The People's Hero Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Not quite true. MDV would have played because Cort was still not quite fit. Also the system would have remained the same. Going back to 4-4-2 completely unbalanced what we had on Saturday. And if N'Gotty had been knackered, as was suggested, the McAuley would have played. One big guy, one mobile. My line-up would have forsaken wingers and enabled us to be stronger in central midfield where we were overrun for the first half hour. Thracian??? THRACIAN!!!???? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! What have you done with 'our' Thracian? Where will little Levi play? Oh yeah, in the hole.
Geo V Posted 29 August 2007 Author Posted 29 August 2007 Leicester City's rescheduled Carling Cup second round clash against Nottingham Forest will now take place at The City Ground on Tuesday, September 18 (7.45pm). As a result, the Foxes Championship clash at Ipswich Town, originally scheduled for that night, has been postponed until a later date. Forest were not due to have a game that night. Ticket details will follow in due course.

Manwell Pablo Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Ooh I like that! I've got a driving test though. But thats not until 11.
Thracian Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Thracian read that back from your good self and explain how your team you have chosen there would not be seen as resting other players, given that you are aware how well we played on Saturday and were inclined not to change the team too much as they had all played well. This is why people struggle to grasp your prattle, because you contradict yourself so much. It is entertaining though because amongst what you write is some knowledgable stuff. I look forward to reading your attempts of getting out of this. I said elsewhere before the Forest match that there would be changes but not to a winning system and not such changes as would destroy the balance of our side and limit its flow. We won Saturday because there were passing options everywhere and moves could flow. Last night six changes (to my four) meant we were weakened in key areas - central midfield (two instead of three), up front (two instead of three), in goal (much weaker choice). Bottom line was that MA reduced the effectiveness of our team right through its centre where Forest seemed so strong. PS: that's my last word for now -I'm off to Telford.

Manwell Pablo Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 But the system changed as well. Apparently. I thought we played 4-4-2 on Saturday with Hume on the right

But your main gripe about last night was the fact that Allen shouldn't need to rest players after 4 games and that having a big squad will hamper him as he's trying to keep them all happy. Yet a few days ago you agreed that a big squad will be beneficial for us to be a success at this level. So I don't get it? We shouldn't have changed our team as they shouldn't need resting, but your suggested line-up included 5 changes. You have to admit that you've changed your tune dramatically because of a very, very crap first half. Fair do's, it's easy to do so when you witness something like that, but it would be nice just once for you to hold your hands up and admit you've been a little silly in your two outrageously contrasting posts on this subject. Enjoy Telford, I look forward to hearing how you thought I did. Yours Sincerely Ryan Beswick
Fez of Mahrez Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Ah but Ric, his team is full of quick passing, movement off the ball, 7.39 potential scorers and attacking intent all over thzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

filbertway Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Not read any comments made I just want to say one thing, our midfield didn't really contain one player willing to attack the space and get at defenders, newton and porter the wingers would much rather get the ball to feet and pass it instead of running at the full bakcs. Then there weso and clemence who are the steady ball winning passers as well. I'm happy to have weso and clemence as the CM pairing as they could be qaulity at this level, but I think we should play 2 attacking wingers on each side, obviously it looks like Kaebi could be the answer to the right, but on the left we don't really have an answer, unless Hume or Gradel was played out left?

To come out with rubbish like that really proves you are clueless when it comes to football! Just because one system worked against one opponent when playing at home, who is to say that the same system would have worked away from home against a completely different opponent??!! Also, from your team selection, you made loads of changes but earlier say that we shouldn't have made changes?! Thrac you really are priceless!!!

Clemence works around the midfield as does Wesolowski. Kishishev is more of a defensive midfielder as is Sergio Hellings. In the middle we don't really have many other options apart from that, Porter perhaps. Kisnorbo, nah not going there again. I wouldn't mind Allen grabbing a decent left winger and a decent attacking midfielder before the end of the transfer window, someone like Claus Jensen (although we won't odviously get him )
Sparky Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Seems we're destined to disagree a lot tonight Kenton was crap! no im with u all the way on that 1 worst player on the pitch for me was newton , absolute waste of space

Tevez Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Apperently Forest wern't bothered by this game, i'm sure they treated it like a cup final?
Raj Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Apperently Forest wern't bothered by this game, i'm sure they treated it like a cup final? By the turnout from the Forest fans, they probably weren't bothered as much as us. The Forest players however were!
Peacefulred Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Apperently Forest wern't bothered by this game, i'm sure they treated it like a cup final? Im not sure about that, but we did pick up where we left off on saturday and thought we controlled the game well apart from the last 10 minutes.
Chrysalis Posted 30 August 2007 Posted 30 August 2007 Perhaps explains why you'll never be a manager.I also hope you'd make an announcement to that effect a fortnight beforehand to save people wasting their money on tickets for what they believe is going to be a first team football match. Nor was this some low-key outing into the wilderness to play the likes of Accrington or Bury - not that it would be any real excuse. It was a derby game against one of our nearest neighbours and over 5000 travelling fans were not only placed in a situation whereby their club and team were being publicly humiliated they were placed in that situation voluntarily, by our manager. Priority? The next "priority" is winning the next match. good managers make priorities and rotate their players for early round cup games. I am sure you would then be moaning if clemence broke his leg in the cup game and shouldnt have been risked for a non league game. The squad tho as someone pointed out was actually quite strong for this game and clemence is in it so the problem wasnt a weak team but they just under peformed.

Shaun Newton on the wing? Hume and DJ up front (that just isnt going to work). Kenton at centre back? that suggests to me that it was a weakened team. Up front and at the back were tampered with. It was weakened, simple as that.

And why would I moan about Clemence sustaining a broken leg in a cuptie?. Playing in cupties is one of the things he's paid to do. And, if we lost any top player a good manager would have a ready made replacement. Shouldn't have been risked? Forest was the next fixture. It would be no sort of issue to me.
