I'd say there's probably a better chance of it happening than there otherwise might be, what with all the help Forest gave last night.

Good point. If they were as helpful as they've been made out to be, then it would definitely be nice. They weren't under any obligation to call off the match, but sounds like they had no hesitation at all.

It's just fair in my opinion and they did afterall agree to the abandonment as pointed out by my man Nibbles above.

According to the radio, Tim Davies offered Forest the match.

Casualtys on Saturdays Dave, popular Casualty spin off Holby City would be Thracians best bet if he is after hospital drama based entertainment.

erm, given what happened, not sure casualty and holby city are the right choice for this joke, bit close to the bone...

besides, i think thracian is more of a 'generation game' fan.

Does anyone know why De Vries and Sergio Hellings were sitting with the away fans in Z block?

they obviously fancied a rumble...

I must admit I haven't read the leadup to this but... you nutter.

How was that a reserve side? Okay so you're not a fan of Kenton or Newton but who else are you unhappy with from that team?

You're right I'm not a fan of Kenton or Newton - or Henderson when we have a better first choice.

I'm not in favour of six changes to any team and I'm not in favour of ditching a big centre-forward and making a system change for no reason.

That wasn't our first choice team out there by a long way and your name-calling won't change that.

Who do you suggest we should have played as the big man up front last night then? MDV was clearly f**ked by the end of the Watford game, Cort isn't match fit yet and Sappleton is still recovering from the news about his best mate.

Henderson, Kenton and Newton might not be first choice players now (Hendo and Newton obviously started the season as first choice though) but they are all experienced pros who should be expected to put a shift in for us in a League Cup game just days after a very strenuous league game against a top team.

I thought they all played poorly but to blame Allen is to hide away from the fact that the whole team looked poor and that includes players like Kisnorbo, Clemence, Wesolowski, Porter, Campbell and Hume.

Oh and come on, name-calling? :D

B4 last nights tragic events unfolded he was having an absolute mare for me, he wasn't bombing on much and he made that ridiculous header that put Forest thru 1 on 1. He also had a mare at Palace in the 1st half b4 he was subbed at half time.

He just doesn't seem arsed. I'd just sack him off tbf.

Whats everyone else think??

I like Newt. Think hes the best option on the right at the minute apart from Kaebi. He didnt have the best of halfs last night but i still think he does a job for the team, although his slight lack of pace is a problem.

Very poor, ran at defenders but as soon as he looked to be getting anywhere he cut back and passed it backwards, very frustrating.

hard to see where he will fit in with Kaebi getting into the team... chambers for sure at right back for me. kaebi RM... i doubt he would want to play reserve team football in the champ. bad enough playing it for a prem team...

What does he give us? Zilch most of the time. He doesn't score. He doesn't create much. And I hate to see him involved defensively cos he's such a liability.

He seemed more use to them last night than to us.

I know MA was prob jus giving him a run out last night but I would hope that against Plymouth he reverts to Hume on the right, and then DJ (and I never thought I'd say this) DeVries....

I think we really did a miss a target man up front for us last night. Time after time the balls to Hume and Campbell were poor and constantly got intercepted. Especially playing away from home I thought we would of gone with someone with more of a physical presence. Whether it was De Vries, although sounds as though he had a knee problem, or even an unfit Cort!

It's difficult when there are players like N'Gotty, Kisnorbo and Clemence who look so assured and comfortable in possession and Chambers, Wesolowski and Hume who always look lively, energetic and capable of making things happen. Someone like Newton just doesn't look up to it in comparison. To be honest in both the Palace and Forest games he looked no better than the likes of Maybury, Hughes and Hammond who have been shunned completely. I also think though that he's unlucky not to start a home game in his proper position yet this season. Being played on the left wing against Blackpool for large periods and then playing on the wing as part of two poor team performances away from home is difficult.

I'd have had no fears using MDV. He'd had enough time to recover and does not seem to be especially injury prone. And I'd have possibly brought Cort on later although, of course, I wouldn't have sent Dodds away to Lincoln.

Don't give me the strenuous game crap. Was it more strenuous for Weso or Hume? Why Newton started our first game only MA can explain but I wouldn't want either him, or Kenton in a non-League side of mine.

Of course Allen is to blame. He decimated the team and made the players' jobs more difficult and more complicated. He was the motivator yet we hardly had the ball for the first half an hour.

What with the penalty claim, two blocks by Chambers and other chances we could have been 4-0 down by the break. I can't even begin to defend the manager for overseeing that sort of response to a major challenge against theoretically inferior opposition.

Newton annoyed me at Palace by getting into good positions, and then not passing. And not even looking to pass.

Now, if he could get into those position, and pass/cross as he is supposed to, then he might actually be useful.

That's garbage about MDV. If he'd have played and had a game as poor as he did against Palace or the rest of the team did last night then Allen would have got it in the neck for fielding him after he was on his knees at the end of the Watford game. I think it's pretty clear that Allen has no qualms about playing MDV and he rested him because he needed to, hopefully so that he can play an important part on Saturday at Plymouth.

Weso and Hume are naturally extremely fit players. You can see this from the fitness drills they do in training. It's not the same for the likes of N'Gotty and de Vries.

You go on about your fears but your are not in a position to tell us what MDV physical condition is and how his body needs to recover. The fact that the management have decided to rest him for both Cup games may be a bit of a clue that the big lad needs his rest.
