Bryn Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 "BEERSHEBA, Israel (AP) -A Hapoel Beersheba soccer player died minutes after collapsing during a practice session Wednesday. Chaswe Nsofwa, a 27-year-old striker, formerly played for Zambia's national team. Rescue workers tried to restart his heart for several minutes on the field before taking him to Soroka Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. "When we arrived we found the soccer player lying on the grass. We found his friends trying to help him,'' Paramedic Carmel Cohen told The Associated Press. "We gave him first aid, electric shocks and an external pacemaker, but despite all our efforts, he was declared dead at the hospital.'' It was unclear why Nsofwa collapsed, but temperatures on the field approached 40 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit) with low humidity. Nsofwa, who joined Hapoel Beersheba in the offseason, scored a goal in his team's 3-0 win over Hakoach Amidar Ramat Gan on Saturday. Sevilla midfielder Antonio Puerta died Tuesday, three days after collapsing during a Spanish league game. Other soccer players who have died after collapsing on the field include Benfica's Miklos Feher in 2004 and Cameroon midfielder Marc-Vivien Foe at the 2003 Confederations Cup in France." fooking hell.

Dames Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Funny thing is. Damian Doyle saved a mans life last night by doing his job. Now he's probably out of a job right now. Disgrace.
