Ultra Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Manure were within a dodgy linesman's flag of a double last season. So it's a little harsh to say their fans don't make a difference.
mat_j101 Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 To be honest, im not that bothered. While i dont expect a manager to be able to turn things around instantly, i think you can tell after a couple of games whether he is correcting the mistakes etc... and getting them playing well, and frankly Allen wasnt. With that said, i would have given him a bit more time. The win against Watford was just a false dawn. We really didnt play that well as a team - Humes goal was a superb individiual effot, Sheehans free kick was very lucky, as was Clemences which Campbell managed to scramble in, and De Vries', well that was sublime!!! But none of these goals were the result of good team play, and the team as a whole werent really that good. Add to this the fact we couldnt hold onto a lead for 5 mins at Palace, lost on the opening day to a newly promoted team, and by all accounts scrambled past an Accrington team that 'caused us trouble at time'. I would have liked to give him more time, and he did have my support, but im really not bothered tbh.
MPH Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 i have only just got to my computer and i am absolutly speechless... i just cant get my head round this... all i can guess is that MM was lining up all these big name foreign boys and MA was saying, 'dont know them dont trust them' kind of thing... MM wants big names and big wages and MA was more after work horses who could fight their way out of this division. purely guess work.... absolutly stunned. i feel so sorry for MA- yesterday was very traumatic for him, clearly. and now this.
Steven Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Gutted and livid. If he's going to behave like this I don't want him running the club. And if he to bring Warnock anywhere near Leicester.... Bring back the old board.
the_bowman Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 "Sack the board Sack the board Sack the board"

The Stig Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 We need Milan, we'll have to live with his dodgy gaffer decsisions, so will our next gaffer.

Filberts lovechild Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Got to say an absolutely shocking decision by MM to get rid of MA. Very poor timing and football wise, in my opinion the wrong one. We were starting to gel, we just hammered a team that was in the Prem only 4 months ago 4-1, a real shocker of a decision. I've got to say though I'm not going to jump on the get rid of MM bandwagon, because what he has bought to the club is something we've never had, investment! I think MM looked over the squad of players we've got, that MA bought in and thought, 'i expected better quality than this'. With the exception of some, don't get me wrong. I think the JFH issue obviously started it off, and he probably thought as all we did, why the fook didn't we get the fat eddie murphy?? He probably thought after that he'll take a look at the first few games and if he didn't like what he saw, he'll bring his axe out. I like the fact we have a chairman that doesn't fook around, but he's gone well OTT this time!

I like the fact we have a chairman that doesn't fook around, but he's gone well OTT this time! On much of this i agree. But we simply don't know exactly what went on behind the scenes. if they couldn't work together (as seems likely) then this would not have been in the long term interests of the club. Signing "name" players can have an immediate impact on the numbers og bumbs on seats and so far our signings have not really gone far towards doing that. For eg our season ticket sales are roughly the same as last season (think 13000 pre season) hardly and indicator of faith in the new signings from the public. A high profile signing or two may well have seen an increase in season ticket sales and matchday sales thus giving more money to the club and of course to MM. Also shirt sales may have increased. If there were fundamental business reasons behind this decision then as the owner of the club MM is fully justified in taking the decision he has made if he believes the manager is satnding in the way of the development of the club. In my opinion it was simply too early from a pure footballing sense to tell whether or not there were real improvements. personally i think the squad though better than before is terribly thin in depth of quality and experience and maybe here lies the reason for their supposed fallout. If we end up getting into the play offs or promoted then we will all look back upon this decision as an excellent one. the timing is not great but then is it ever? probably though it is better now than later in the season.
Vacamion Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 We are going down the same road as Heart of Midlothian. It will end in tears. The best clubs in the history of the English game had chairmen you never heard of. We have a media loving chairman who sacks his manager after 3 league games. Poor.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 29 August 2007 Posted 29 August 2007 Why dont you write of instead of ov and this isnt msn and b4 its before The annoying thing is, typing 'ov' instead of 'of' serves no benefit whatsoever, it doesn't even save type-time. We are dealing with one right twit in beena. Beena you tit

What sort of manager would let himself work in an environment where the slightest disagreement puts you out the door this quickly? ....one that wants to get back in the Premiership I suppose....

Mike the Metal Ed Posted 30 August 2007 Posted 30 August 2007 "Milan isnt your man for stability" "but it'll be great fun" "Milan was a great chairman, it was never dull" "shooting the duck" ""Step aside Saints" banner" "and at the end of the day, he knew when to step aside and bring in someone better " ---- Quotes from an MSN conversation I had with a Portsmouth fan I talk to quite often, on Sunday, when discussing the ever-growing rumours that Martin Allen would be leaving Leicester.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 30 August 2007 Posted 30 August 2007 He's also mentioned how Mandaric likes to sign "gifts" for the fans once a year, big name players like Robert Prosinecki or Teddy Sheringham. Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink was going to be a Milan "gift", but Allen refused it (quite rightly, IMO). But he's very set in his ways, and any manager who comes in for the long haul is going to have to learn how to play Mandaric.
weggy1976 Posted 30 August 2007 Posted 30 August 2007 Very good post Best for who.......him? cause don't think he gives a damn about people or this club. He is bothered about the lining of hiss pockets and his morales end there. He's a ruthless piece of work. Doubt any promising manager would want to work for him.....would you?
