Thracian Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Surely if we don't have everyone we need then we have only got Tom and Harry? What you are trying to say, I think, is that the players of Leicester City are crying out for Dick. If that's "inside knowledge" I'm in no position to argue!
sackmycook Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 hope the players (esp foreign boys) can understand him. as i couldnt understand a fooking word when tags was on RL
sackmycook Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 I could swear I read on BBC yesterday that Elliot & Izzet were also being lined up as coaches of some sort, but can't find the story. Milan's obviously thinking these will help soften the blow for those who aren't happy with megson Ex-Leicester stars Matt Elliott and Muzzy Izzet may also be given roles on the coaching staff. worryingly the article also says: Mandaric had targeted Billy Davies and Iain Dowie as a successor to Martin Allen, but has failed to tempt them away from Derby County and Coventry City respectively so we got our 3rd choice! Times Article
Daggers Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 so we got our 3rd choice! I think that was obvious from his reply to the question during the press conference...Megson was the best he could get. This may well dictate how much time he has to play with the team...until Dowie quits anyway.

I forgot what question was asked it may have been this one but I sensed abit of anger in Mr Mandaric's voice to the question about how many managers he interviewed or maybe it was a question about how long Megson will be given/Why Allen was given so little time something along those lines but certainly sensed abit of anger in his voice at one point in the Press Conference.
TheBlinding Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Are we ever going to get a striker coach like Cottee? All these defender and midfield coaches yet the thing we're crying out for is for someone to show us how to score goals. We get very few goals from corners, hardly ever score direct from a free kick, never score at the near post, rarely score from headers. In fact apart from the Kisnorbo/McAuley charge we hardly ever score from free kicks at all. I wouldn't say scoring goals has been that much of a problem. 4 games - 6 goals isn't bad, only 4 teams in the league have scored more than that. By my maths that is a 1.5 goals a game which over the season would come out at 69 goals, 2 more than Birmingham, 8 more than Derby and 10 more than Wolves scored last season and they were 3 of the top 5. And as for not being a threat from set pieces, 4 of those 6 goals came from set pieces.

Mandaric was asked about whether Megson was first choice. The answer was not "Yes, he was my first choice"

Four of our six League goals came in one match the other three produced 2 goals and the 1.5 cup games provided one goal. So seven goals in 5.5 matches and three of those fixtures we didn't score. Last last season it was 49 goals in 46 League games - so not enough all round. Our free kicks have improved this season but one of the four was from a deflected mishit and there is still great scope for improvement, particularly in certain aspects.
Bryn Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Having thought about it... don't think I'm as disappointed as I was. MEh didn't really mean to put that in here, I mean about Megson.

I'm just saying, you seem to think we have problems scoring goals, I was pointing out that we have actually scored a good amount of goals so far, nothing about the style of the goals. And then you said that we don't score enough goals from set pieces when 2/3 have been. Does it matter that it was a misshit/deflection? Ball ended up in the goal from a set piece.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Tags has been brought in to twat anyone who steps out of line. And to crack open the Guiness at half time. Great appointment.

Seems highly likely to me that MM had lost so much credibility that various prospective managers were simply not in interested in working for him. And no wonder there's been reported talk of us needing stability now. Another manager search might be even more difficult. I wish Megson the very best of luck because the situation was not of his making and he was just in the right place - that is out of work - at the right time. But the circumstances of his appointment were embarrassing, and probably more so if we knew all the details.

eaststandtom Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 Wasn't it GM who brought him in? so he says in the press conference like!!! megson has made a good choice.

Lillehamring Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 I want to congratulate Milan on bringing in Gerry Taggart, not sure on his role yet but this is fantastic for Leicester. He is a true Leicester legend and has been there and done it with the team, will know how the players will be feeling and i think will be an excellant motivator. He has been on Radio Leicester quite a lot recently, gets straight to the point and i have agreed with almost everything he has said so i am really pleased. i remember when we were great (mo'n) and my bro was convinced in all seriousness that taggart should have been nominated as european player of the year - based on being the best defender in the best defence in the best league in europe... tenuous, i know, but he really was a world class player... and he also does great karaoke - which people seem to be overlooking.

I agree 100%
Phlashman Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 and if we ever play Leeds again he can finish the job he started at Stoke: But yeah, when he's on the radio I always agree with him and he's always straight up about things. I think his more recent knowledge of how we've been playing should help Megson settle in faster.
Free Falling Foxes Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 Everyone seems to wetting themselves over Tags inclusion & the rumours about Izzet & Elliott. Some of us are old enough to remember the excitment & untimate disaster of former players coming back as coaches/managers. I'll wait & see. FFF
Leicester Rule! Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 Cant be bothered to read all the previous posts! Is this the Gerry Taggart who used to be the versatile Leicester City defender as well ?
BigGibbo Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 I am hoping Taggart Elliot & Izzet are being brought in to suffice for Megsons terrible motivational skills
Strokes Posted 14 September 2007 Posted 14 September 2007 Gerry's been bought in to appease fan's over the obvious unpopular appointment of Megson, and it shouldn't work.
