Gerry's been bought in to appease fan's over the obvious unpopular appointment of Megson, and it shouldn't work.

its not that unpopular appointment of Megson and it has worked for me. Gerry will sort them out, my hopes for this season still remain play offs and possible promotion even without Allen

Wasn't it GM who brought him in? :dunno:

BBC gossip section today said it was Milan who wanted him in to try and appease disgruntled fans...

if you read alot into that and look negatively then MM thinks we can be conned with a tolken gesture from him to 'make the angry people go away'

otherwise good old Milan for trying to bring some spirit back into the club!!

Posted
Seems highly likely to me that MM had lost so much credibility that various prospective managers were simply not in interested in working for him.

And no wonder there's been reported talk of us needing stability now. Another manager search might be even more difficult.

I wish Megson the very best of luck because the situation was not of his making and he was just in the right place - that is out of work - at the right time.

But the circumstances of his appointment were embarrassing, and probably more so if we knew all the details.

...and thereby lies the crux of the problem.

Personally, I liked MA and felt he could do the job for us. Without any clear, given reason from MM it is impossible to make a reasonable assessment of the situation beyond 'do I think Megson is better than MA?' The answer is a simple 'no'.

MM should have come out and been honest, but he has publicly demonstrated his duplicity and I have lost a great deal of respect and trust for him as a result.

If he really wanted what was best for the club then he would have spent as long as needed obtaining the best long-term replacement but he chose to rush it and get the best one he could during this fortnight break. It was a mistake.

Maybe (pay attention Fundamentalists) it will work out well for us, I hope so, and we can all sit back and go 'phew!' and 'that Megson knows his salt!'.

In the meantime I'm going to continue to express my reservations regardless what the lobotomised demand.

Cant be bothered to read all the previous posts! Is this the Gerry Taggart who used to be the versatile Leicester City defender as well ?

if you cant be bothered to read all the previous posts, why should we be bothered to read yours? or more to the point, respond to yours?

Ha! You just did :D

I could swear I read on BBC yesterday that Elliot & Izzet were also being lined up as coaches of some sort, but can't find the story. Milan's obviously thinking these will help soften the blow for those who aren't happy with megson

Would do wonders for the motivation of the Foxes squad. True legends walking through the front door on a regular basis...people to look up to IMO.

What happened to that pencil sketch avatar you used to use ... I have to say I'm flattered you like my avatar so much you want to use it but really ... what would happen if everyone used the same avatar ... ??? Anyway ... I won't say anymore on the subject ...

So why have you just read my post? Or more to the point, why did you even respond to my post and quote it?

He has a point - it's not a long thread...

Unfortunately they are not legends to the current squad, any motivational potential will only be realised if the squad come to respect them for their ability and knowledge not because they are adored by the fans.

Having Tags watching him, Stearman might get his arse into gear again.

I want to congratulate Milan on bringing in Gerry Taggart, not sure on his role yet but this is fantastic for Leicester. He is a true Leicester legend and has been there and done it with the team, will know how the players will be feeling and i think will be an excellant motivator. He has been on Radio Leicester quite a lot recently, gets straight to the point and i have agreed with almost everything he has said so i am really pleased.

Well done Milan

Not sure about Megson though but he has a much better record than Allen 2 promotions to 0 and i think does have the passion for the game and club. He probably didn't have that at Forest because who would at an, awful crap club like that

Excellent we have Taggart, im sure Megson will do well, 2-0 win on Saturday!

Yeh why don't we bring back Frankie Wortho and Lenny Glover while we're at it

I don't see how being a one time great player at the club equates to being rewarded with a coaching/meet and greet contract!

OK we don't know what role he'll be given yet but we all know he's only here for one reason and that's so the fans won't be as pissed off about Megson being given the managers job.

Stuart Pearce, great player, shit manager. Jose Mourinho, who?, great manager.

End of the day, tutorlage and leadership don't exclusively come from how good you were as a player. I appreciate coaching is a little different to management, but all of you making out this is a fantastic move boggle me. I like Taggart, he talks a lot of sense on the radio, he was a player with a good, strong work ethic and he's got a quality accent. ;)

But I'll reserve judgment 'til we actually see progress. We're all happy to abuse Megson, but he has a track record of Promotion and success - if only in this division. And let's not forget one Mr. Mandaric will be all too happy to rid us of Megson if he gets us promoted and fails to start well in the Prem.

Could be an interesting appointment for Tags, we know he is through and through a lover of Leicester City.

As first team coach do we think there will be any differences of opinion between him and Megson.

Remember Gerry came from a MON team that played good attractive football.

There was rarely any of this hoof ball up the field business.

Surely Gerry would wish to play football the way it should be played, on the ground.

Some people say that Megson is a long ball merchant.

Could this lead to any difference of opinion between them? :dunno:

It's a good appointment for Gerry though, he's on a learning curve that will hopefully see him some day become a good manager.

Good luck to him.

Hasn't worked with 22-28,000 watching him...you think one more will be a straw that broke the Stearman's back kinda thing? A shame, I'd have brought my brother along against Wolves if I'd known. ;)
