maddog Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 I want to congratulate Milan on bringing in Gerry Taggart, not sure on his role yet but this is fantastic for Leicester. He is a true Leicester legend and has been there and done it with the team, will know how the players will be feeling and i think will be an excellant motivator. He has been on Radio Leicester quite a lot recently, gets straight to the point and i have agreed with almost everything he has said so i am really pleased. Well done Milan Not sure about Megson though but he has a much better record than Allen 2 promotions to 0 and i think does have the passion for the game and club. He probably didn't have that at Forest because who would at an, awful crap club like that Excellent we have Taggart, im sure Megson will do well, 2-0 win on Saturday!
maddog Posted 13 September 2007 Author Posted 13 September 2007 Wasn't it GM who brought him in? Not sure really thought it was Milan Great move either way, if it was GM i like him already
Matt Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Wasn't it GM who brought him in? So he says but I honestly believe that is Gary Megson's first "Yes Sir" reply to Milan. I reckon Milan bought Tags in and when he offered Megson the job he said "but in the press conference you must say it was your choice" Perhaps not that simple but I do believe Milan is behind bringing Tags in and Megson's first "Yes" was the reply.

Either way, I'm glad he's in and hopefully he's not all talk and what he said on RL he can put into practice
maddog Posted 13 September 2007 Author Posted 13 September 2007 The interview probably went like this: Milan: Your not another Martin Allen who won't say yes to me all the time are you? Megson: Yes errrrrrrr i mean no Milan: Lets get Gerry Taggart Megson: Yes Milan: I will run this club, you will do whatever i say Megson: Yes Milan: You will be sacked in 8 weeks if you have not won every match, and even then i will just sack you for non footballing reasons Megson: Yes Milan: Welcome to Leicester City Megson: Yes, Thank you, i will get us promoted yes
andyh1884 Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 I could swear I read on BBC yesterday that Elliot & Izzet were also being lined up as coaches of some sort, but can't find the story. Milan's obviously thinking these will help soften the blow for those who aren't happy with megson

MPH Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 good move bringing in taggart.... he was always one to sort things out...
Unabomber Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 good move bringing in taggart.... he was always one to sort things out... He also always seemed to talk a fair bit of sense of the commentary, and he also is aware of a few of the players as he has watched us many times, Megson most probably won't have a clue about our strongest side etc.
FilboFox Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 A Taggart, Izzet and Elliot team would be amazing! Can you imagine the buzz that the players would get from three friends running a club! We'd be a team with INCREDIBLE motivation and determination that those three have!
Pete_foxes Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 My guess is Tag's has been brought it because as a crowd pleaser, because MM knew Megson would be a contraversial appointment. As I see is also the view of some others on here.

Why would the players get a buzz, they don't know them as such, as for running the club that's Manadaric or haven't you noticed!

Don't know how much a buzz the players will get but us fans would be delighted, obviously they have no coaching pedigree yet but still it would lift the mood amongst the masses greatly.
Geo V Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 I seem to be in the minority whenever talk starts up on ex-players who had successful spells returning, either as a player or as a manager and I must admit whilst Taggarts appointment wont be negative, I cant see how we should be overly delighted with him. Yes he was a great player who made the most of what god gave him and maybe he may toughen up some of the defenders but i am delighted in the way the defence is playing and would much rather that anyone who came to join the backroom staff at the club was a class coach, not an unproven one.
Flynny Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 If this is a Megson appointment I'll eat a turd. Rumours went round that we'd be getting Elliott and Izzet in as coaches too. Obviously Megson was interested in bringing back ex-legends because he gives a shit about our club and everything!
dandannieldanok Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 link to the Times story??!! http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle2442293.ece
David O'Leary Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 Well done Milan first thing you've done right since hiring Allen
Bryn Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 He like how Mandaric describes Taggs as a local lad in the press conference ::
Thracian Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 I could swear I read on BBC yesterday that Elliot & Izzet were also being lined up as coaches of some sort, but can't find the story. Milan's obviously thinking these will help soften the blow for those who aren't happy with megson Are we ever going to get a striker coach like Cottee? All these defender and midfield coaches yet the thing we're crying out for is for someone to show us how to score goals. We get very few goals from corners, hardly ever score direct from a free kick, never score at the near post, rarely score from headers. In fact apart from the Kisnorbo/McAuley charge we hardly ever score from free kicks at all. It's like being in a handicap race and yet we've got a goalkeeper coach, defender Taggart, prospective defender Elliott, midfielders and every Tom, Dick and Harry except what we most need. And we do need him. I can still remember that small-phase practise session in front of the fans at the Walkers - the delivery/striking standards were diabolical.
maddog Posted 13 September 2007 Author Posted 13 September 2007 Song for the game, Gerry! Gerry! Gerry! Gerry! (like Jerry Springer)
Daggers Posted 13 September 2007 Posted 13 September 2007 It's like being in a handicap race and yet we've got a goalkeeper coach, defender Taggart, prospective defender Elliott, midfielders and every Tom, Dick and Harry except what we most need. And we do need him. Surely if we don't have everyone we need then we have only got Tom and Harry? What you are trying to say, I think, is that the players of Leicester City are crying out for Dick.
