DB11 Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 How sad I hope that LCFC win as it is what your Dad wanted and hopefully, any players that are reading this thread, will try their almighty best to make a proper LCFC fans last hope come true RIP
chesterfox Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 I'm sorry to hear about your loss. However I was touched to hear that your dad kept the faith until the end. While that faith persists, it will continue to touch lives in ways that no chairman, manager or even player will ever truly understand. I really hope that your wish is granted today! well put - my sympathies go out to you and family. Just been looking through some old 70's programmes - it never dies does it?? RIP
foxin_oz Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 My dad last took me to Filbert Street in 1966 just before we came out here to Australia ... He was an ex soldier in World War II and died 2 years ago ... I know how you feel Filbertboy ... I miss my dad too ... let's hope we win it for your dad Filbertboy ... hang in there mate ... it gets easier with time ...
Stevosevic Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 I hope they do it for your Dad today, a touching story. I too share Leicester City F.C with my father and i can't imagine going to games without him. Sympathies with you and your family.
Bert Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 How sad. My thoughts are with you and your family, let's hope the lads can go out and do it for him. May he R.I.P
Blue Bob Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 I think this is what makes football so special, forget the latest comings and goings at a club. Players, managers and chairman come and go but the fans are always there. We winge and moan about on the field and off the field issues but a lot of the special moments happen in the stands. I am sure there was an immense moment of pride that first time your dad took you down to City and every match since when you stood shoulder to shoulder cheering the boys on. I do believe there is something quite special as that passion is passed down from generation to generation. You have been lucky to have had that bond. My Dad cant stand football so he has never been, but I hope on day I can have a son that I can take down. Cherish the memories I am sure he did. RIP.
Ben Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 R.I.P We all hope the boys can go out there this afternoon and do it for your dad. Come on City!
NorthernFox Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Sorry to hear of your loss FilbertBoy. I don't see my old man more than a couple of times a year, and it was a special day to go to the Blackpool game with him this season. A win today will be a fitting tribute.
Moreton Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 In 1967 my dad took me to filbert street to see city play Arsenal, it was my first ever game and I will never forget it. Over the years we went together many times to see the city play both home and away. After my brother was old enough he joined us on our trips. I have many memories of those games and times. Yesterday my lovely dad passed away, suddenly. In one of our last chats he said lets hope we beat QPR we need the points. So today thats all I ask - go out City and win it for him. please. R.I.P C'mon do it for his dad
Wycombe Fox Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Deepest sympathies to you and your family. RIP Filbertboy's dad. Come on CITY!!!!!!!!!!
Jay1982 Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Dear Filbert Boy, I know it may not be a concilation but since Elvis Hammond has moved here ive known him (yes i know its nothing to be proud of, thats why ive never said anything, but hes a good guy) i just rang him and told him about you and your'e Father. I told him to tell the Lads that this is what the supporters go through, and when you look up at the stands today, every person has their own story. I just wanted to get the message through so they know they will be playing for you. whether or not its gets through , i dont know, but i thought id try. Sorry to hear about your Father, RIP

Really sorry to hear about your Dad. I first went down with mine in 1969 against Man Utd and saw Charlton, Law and Best etc (City won 2-1). I now have a seaon ticket with my kids aged 9 and 6 in the family stand and although I have to get on at them a few times during the match to keep them in order, I hope like you, that they will later in life remember the times they spent with their dad down the 'City'. It's that one time that at least once a fortnight we can share a few hours together and forget abou the distractions of work and being too busy doing other things. We can all share our opinions and fall out with each other on this forum as managers and players come and go, but its because of our family histories and memories with our club that make it ours and why at times we get so passionate about it. I, as will others, will think about you today and hope for the win that your dad would of wanted! All the best.
Alexikokopops Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Sorry about your loss. Hopefully a win today will be a fitting tribute.

filbertboy Posted 15 September 2007 Author Posted 15 September 2007 Not quite the score that my dad had in mind but still. I would like to thank all those people who have taken the time and gone to the trouble of reading my post. A huge thank you to all who replied in writing. Reading your words has been of a help to me and you are all right in that those memories and times, the bond that we built through our lives together, including our football club, will live for ever. Thank you from Filbertboy and family.
Thracian Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 There's no replacing a good dad. But it sounds like you had some terrific times together - memories that will always be with you. Deepest sympathy. It puts a lot of things in proportion.
