filbertboy Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 In 1967 my dad took me to filbert street to see city play Arsenal, it was my first ever game and I will never forget it. Over the years we went together many times to see the city play both home and away. After my brother was old enough he joined us on our trips. I have many memories of those games and times. Yesterday my lovely dad passed away, suddenly. In one of our last chats he said lets hope we beat QPR we need the points. So today thats all I ask - go out City and win it for him. please.

What a fantastic post, Filbertboy. When you read so much petty character assasinations going on amongst many topics of this forum it really makes a change to read something like that. This is what football is all about to me. Well said and I hope the lads get those points for you both (and the rest of us).
Guest Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Sorry to hear about your dad, my thoughts are with you and your family.

My dad died 5 years ago, we were regulars down there for years and season ticket holders since the Brian Little days. His last game was the last game at Filbert St. I must admit the following season , the promotion season, felt empty without him. All the best for the future and commiserations on your loss.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 The bonds fans form with their football clubs are almost unique in their strength and lifelong nature. It really is a special thing to have experienced that three-way tie when your Dad takes you to the football and you can share that Saturday afternoon together. I consider myself lucky to have seen some great Leicester games with my Dad and I'm sure you can say the same. Let's hope they win for him today. My thoughts are with you. Blue Army.

James. Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 Going to the football with your Dad is one of those special times and I know you'll cherish those memories. I'm going to the game today. I'll be thinking of you and your family. Come on Leicester.
Aeropars Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 My sympathies to you and your family. I went through the same thing with my grandad who was more like a dad. It still hurts when i think about him.

Lillehamring Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 What a truly nice sentiment, clearly one that many of us on here can empathise with entirely. i count myself lucky that, even tho i don't get to see the old man too often these days, it is LCFC and foxes talk that helps keeps us close. best wishes, filbert boy Hi Dad!

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. However I was touched to hear that your dad kept the faith until the end. While that faith persists, it will continue to touch lives in ways that no chairman, manager or even player will ever truly understand. I really hope that your wish is granted today!
David O'Leary Posted 15 September 2007 Posted 15 September 2007 R.I.P i will be thinking of you and your dad whatever the result today
