Head Honcho Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 Didn't wanna post in this thread, People know how it normally turns out when I post in a thread like this, But I may shock people;I like the Poles, Fair enough there over here taking jobs English people should be doing but if lazy English people can't be arsed to get off the dole then why not employ poles, If I was the owner of a company - There cheap, they work damn hard, and you probably get more for your money than employing an Englishman. The only thing that I am against with them is there effectively doing me out of a job, I and others who are willing to work are being pushed out of jobs because Poles are cheaper to employ, As I said fair enough if some English people are sat on there arses all day scrounging on the dole employ the poles to do there jobs but don't forget there people like me who do work and want to work. I work with Poles and there a really friendly bunch and a good laugh, At least they have made the effort to learn our language (Barr 1 or 2, and theres no real excuse those 1 or 2 have been here for about 4/5 years now, and i'm not exaggerating the hardly know a word of English) I have learnt abit of Polish, Fair enough it's abuse and swearing and now i'm moving onto sentences. I have even been invited to one of the lads wedding's next month in Poland, and I want to go but i'm only going if a few lads from work go, but it's nice for the offer anyway. And its only about 50 to 70p a pint over there Oh yeah and the Polish women  I know you can't say all Polish women are good looking because i'm sure theres the fair share of rough ones, but on a whole from what i've seen not bad! As for Trevor McDonald, I am sorting of siding with the people saying if it was a white person who said it regardless of whether it was a joke or not, regardless of whether people found it offensive or not it would no doubt be classed as racist. That's all I have to say on the matter before I get into an argument like usual Matt-Another candidate for Foxestalk Voice of Reason award 2007
Rincewind Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 A total of 112 people complained. Hardly a mass protest of anger against reverse racism. Bernard Manning said that kind of thing all the time and as far as I know was never arrested for it. There are many comedians who make similar remarks and jokes. It is when those remarks are taken onto the streets that it becomes wrong. Making speeches in front of a baseball wielding mob and condoning the use of violence. Trevor McDonald as far as I know never stood outside Bernard Mannings house shouting 'Go home you whit fat bastard' or parade through the streets with a placard. He never threw bananas at hiom during any of his shows or spent an whole evening telling jokes about how BM was overweight. But he did appear on a comedy satirical show in front of an audience and with other guests. As said many times the remark was made in context with the line of conversation in the same way when asked if Akinbyi was unlucky when shooting at thje goal a LCFC supporter would reply 'No he was just a crap fcuker.' For the last time it was a joke, it was meant to be funny and laughed at. Bernard Manning is at this moment looking down/up saying 'The black sods right you know I am a fat white bastard.'

That's all I have to say on the matter before I get into an argument like usual Except people like Chris Morris, a white person, has made an entire career out of it. If you ever watch Brass Eye for instance you'll see examples of it against all walks of life. In one of the bits in the Drugs episode of Brass Eye it shows a clip of Chris Morris apparently injecting heroin and then he turns up and says "That could've been me. Fortunately I only inject on a purely recreational basis, but if I was any less well off, like builders or blacks..." He hasn't been called a racist yet, that was 10 years ago. So really that's bullshit.
Rincewind Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 This is what happens when the masses are given freedom of speech.
Nick Posted 17 September 2007 Posted 17 September 2007 Racism is about power. There is no power in a black man opressing a white man in a comedy show by calling him a white racist bastard. A black person saying " all you white guys look the same.... " is powerless comedy in terms of white people being offended. It does have power and context in making white people think about their prejudices, especially when said in front of a prime time white audience. In reverse it means something totally different. Bernard Manning was a racist. It is about power and context. So, in short, all you white wankers out there with no understanding of racism or prejudice can go be white and offended somewhere else. You Honkey pricks. N. (and what ethnicity do you think I am?)
Rincewind Posted 18 September 2007 Posted 18 September 2007 Actually he was called a fat white bastard. He said Bernard Manning wasn't a racist which in the brief pause would have brought gasps of amazement from the audience, so when TM finished his sentence the irony hit home 'Aahh so he wasn't a bad person because he insulted people of a different colour to him and made fun of their culture and way of life, he was a bad person because he had happened to been born white and failed to keep his appointment with weightwatchers.' Now which is worse? I suppose I am wasting my time. Still another 8 inches to break through . SIGH
Daggers Posted 18 September 2007 Posted 18 September 2007 Is there any point highlighting that you all have his name wrong? It's Trevor McDonut.

Rincewind Posted 20 September 2007 Posted 20 September 2007 I don't think Chris Morris was exactly having a go at blacks. If taking all what he said, he also said what if it had been somebody less middle class and warned people to be careful. I assume he was reffering to inner cities where it more likely to have high unemployment and young people with nothing to do. I don't believe he takes drugs at all. He was trying to shock I think and get a reaction.
