mancunianfox Posted 2 November 2007 Author Posted 2 November 2007 Its got to be Jewell for me. The guy even managed to keep Bradford City up in the Premiership. He has won four promotions and he is one of the few experienced managers we have looked at who has kept not one but two sides in the Premiership. His teams are well organised and he has an eye for a player.
Foxhateram Posted 2 November 2007 Posted 2 November 2007 I wish i was as optimistic as you, but my big question is why wouldn't he have taken the Bolton job if he was ready to get back. Seemed the perfect job for him and the club! I really hope he does join us because I don't see him as another manager that will be put on trial, i see him as a manger for the next few years. It may take him a while to build his own team and style of play but I think he could get us to the Prem with MM's backing. Problem is Martin Allen has set us back due to all the iffy signings, so this season at least could be a struggle for any manager. Fingers crossed for Jewell!! Only Gary Megson would be stupid enough to take the Bolton job, their chairmen has officially lost it! and tbh that was Gary's job roght from the start with his agent on the interview board at Bolton it was a big set up. I know Milan isnt exactly the most stable guy in the world, but atleast he makes some sort of sense. I see Jewell as a man with good judgement, and i think he could see that Bolton are desting for relegation simply because their players think they are better than they are because of the "PAST" Diouff has lost it, Anelka is losing his touch and probably on his way out, Giankapoulus has lost his legs, Speed is on his way out of form. the club is falling apart, anyone can see that, and Jewell knows if they get relegated hel 1) get the sack 2) ruin his great reputation of keeping teams in the premiership everyone remembers the bad things that you have done not the good things. I honestly beleive Jewell will come here, and to suggest that Tagss and FRank should have the job when their is any possible at all, is just pure stupidity. And if Mialn does appoint Fran ad Taggs then i seriously think he should go "talk to FRANK" about his drug problems.

I think you are reading a bit too much in to it and I think with Bolton and the players they've got there, they have a better chance than a lot of other teams of beating the drop. But I hope you are right about Jewell. And i am dead against Tags and Burrow becoming full-time appointment, always have been, because I dont see it as a long-term solution. But if you are suggesting an average Championship club with a controversial chairman is better option than and established Prem club with players like Anelka, then you are dreaming. Just hope to God your right and Jewell will pick us but longer it goes on, less and less likely I reckon. If Jewell was generaly interested, I don't think there are many out there who could compete with him. I think we are looking at another Megson kinda of appointment, maybe Joe Royal.
Ultra Posted 2 November 2007 Posted 2 November 2007 Please remember we were terrible under Megson - but who was his two coaches - Burrows and Taggart. I appreciate that Megson would have had the last word but they were still part of the problem. Burrows has not set the world on fire in the past 40 years so why do you think he will do so now??? I think a new manager has to be the way forward. Amen to that. Burrows is a solid lower-league manager and coach but appointing him on a permanent basis would show a woeful lack of ambition by our chairman. This club needs a figure of more gravitas and expertise to take us back into the top flight and keep us there.

MC Prussian Posted 2 November 2007 Posted 2 November 2007 Give him the damn job now! My thoughts exactly! No matter what big names we all throw into the pot, reputation's no guarantee for success. Especially when you look at Leicester City FC. Also, I like that 70ies/80ies look about Burrows - the looks and his personality could very well develop into a legend.
Bryn Posted 2 November 2007 Posted 2 November 2007 I've warmed to Burrows massively and he has a good track record. I see no reason to rush into an appointment, in my opinion the season is probably already wasted in terms of getting to the Prem. Give Taggs and Burrows a month or two, why the heck not?
Alexikokopops Posted 2 November 2007 Posted 2 November 2007 has he ever managed anyone He has about 12 years experience of managing teams in lower leagues. Any talk of appointing Burrows just because we beat Barnsley and played well in the cup (as always) is ridiculous. His moustache is bloody brilliant though.

oO RUSTYNAIL Oo Posted 2 November 2007 Posted 2 November 2007 WOW i love frank burrows, he reminds of Sean Conery in the film THE UNTUCHABLES look at the resemblance between them
Raikkonen Posted 2 November 2007 Posted 2 November 2007 is it me because i heard that milan was ment to be an apointment today?
lookwhaticando Posted 2 November 2007 Posted 2 November 2007 WOW i love frank burrows, he reminds of Sean Conery in the film THE UNTUCHABLES look at the resemblance between them Good effort... but deary me, the spelling of untouchables is shocking. First you missed the U, then a case of "fattest finger first" meant you included a K by mistake, alongside the L. Oh... and it's Connery. is it me because i heard that milan was ment to be an apointment today? I seriously doubt he ever intended nor hoped to make an appointment quite that quickly. Next Friday maybe... This week has been too busy in a footballing sense... Barnsley on Saturday, Chelsea on Wednesday and Colchester this Saturday... a managerial appointment during that time was never too likely, I reckon. Especially as Megson only left last week.
Chrysalis Posted 2 November 2007 Posted 2 November 2007 Just spoken to forest friend of mine. It seems frank was at forest but just didnt joni at the same time as megson he joined at a later date, when megson left forest 4pts above league one relegation zone frank was the joint caretaker manager when they had that late surge and almost made the playoffs. Interestingly one thing we both defenitly agreed on, under megson there is next to no open play goals scored, nearly always set peices only and when 1-0 up always play defensive. Forest won their first match after megson left 7-1 whilst Leics got a couple of games in the following home game. We then went onto score open play goals against Chelsea, and we also have beaten watford 4-1 this season. My point been a bad manager can make the fans blame the players as been incapable when reallly our players are quite capable of winning a lot of games and scoring goals it just needs a manager with the right mindset. I still think Frank should not be appointed tho but should be a ok caretaker manager and MM should take his time and make sure he gets a decent proper appointment.
lookwhaticando Posted 2 November 2007 Posted 2 November 2007 Just spoken to forest friend of mine. To be frank, your Forest mate is wrong. Barlow was the Frank they had... they tried to get Burrows, but he declined... so they took Barlow instead. Beeb Sport - Jan 27, 2005: Barlow joins Forest
