Rincewind Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 what traumatic experience did you have involving baked beans? None really just don't like the smell of them either. I can guarantee though that a relative will forget that I don't like them and pile them on my breakfast plate when visiting or I get them when ordering breakfast in a cafe despite saying 'Hol;d the beans'
AoWW Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 does anyone remember some sweets called 'pacers'they came in a green and white wrapper, were white coloured with a green stripe and were 'chewy' like chewitts. Mint flavoured. I miss them!!! oh, and i used to go to Lanky Boys... on my way up welford road i used to stop off at 'kens' and by 1/4 of 'choc lick'.... that was ace.... Yep, pacers were ace. I was never a big fan of minty sweets, but I liked them. (Though the wrappers used to stick to the sweets something chronic! )
Daggers Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Pacers were made with lead. And all other sweets, pre-1981, were made with anthrax. Harking back to "the good ole days" is a double edged sword.
Smudge Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Youngish. 42 Fair enough Snr. Futts, on reflection, young to me is anyone south of 50.
potter3 Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Although it's not really a sweet, the Wispa bar has made a return :w00t:

Geo V Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 There used to be a little shop that had stacks of sweets sold by the quarter (man I am old but thank god not as old as Raj ) and amongst the favs were Cola Cubes and Pear Drops but my favourite was those nut sweet thingys as pictured below. Most of those sweets must now be illegal as the sugar level was horrendous
AoWW Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 Pineapple cubes... I used to like them. You could suck 'em for hours - they took ages to dissolve.

Kent Fox Posted 7 October 2007 Posted 7 October 2007 My grandad had a newsagents when I was a kid. It had all the old style jars of sweets in. Fantastic. Other than those mentioned already, anyone remember the Aztec bar?? It just disappeared. And Marathon's were so much better than Snickers!
