Lineker's Left Foot Posted 11 October 2007 Share Posted 11 October 2007 Great band !!! Hope its true Started to listen to them loads lately and in between days is one of my top 5 best songs ever. What a surprise, I'm gonna talk about The Cure, but Disintegration, as you can see, is my most favourite album ever.... you're better off with some of their earlier stuff like the Faith, Pornography and Seventeen Seconds albums IMHO.... talking about innovation, they have more idea in their little finger than Oasis. Nationwider Posted 11 October 2007 Share Posted 11 October 2007 A great band. I can't offer anything more constructive than that. Lullaby was one of the 7" first singles I ever bought. I'm enjoying slowly fillling the gaps in my collection.

Head Honcho Posted 12 October 2007 Share Posted 12 October 2007 Rumours of a double album coming out next year.I just booked to see them play in Vienna in February. Love that band. Saw them supporting Siouxsie and the Banshees at De mont in the 70's Robert Smith playing for both. One of the best bands in the world-can I be your date for one night in February? Very jealous. That would have been awesome. As much as I love the Cure (my gf is a cure collector and Gallup is a huge influence on my playing) I can't really get excited about this. It pains me to say it but they should have called it a day after Bloodflowers and as good as the Cure were they would have strugled to pull off a double album in their prime let alone twenty or so years later. Very few artists can make a good one and those that have relied on a good story coupled with varied musical ideas and I just don't think the Cure have that in their arsenal, especially on the evidence of their last album. I really hope they prove me wrong but if they don't at least I have lots of awesome records by them in my collection.

Course you can! The Missus might be a bit miffed though. Great venue. Gasometer. 3,000 seater, so quite initimate. I saw The Cure on their first ever tour. Three Imaginary Boys. Poor old Tolhurst got lost along the way somewhere, but they were great to start and still are. Still not sure about the lip gloss mind!
General Smuts Posted 6 March 2009 Share Posted 6 March 2009 Saw them supporting Siouxsie and the Banshees at De mont in the 70's Robert Smith playing for both. One of the best bands in the world-can I be your date for one night in February? I've never been more jealous of a man in my life. Love that The Cure got the revival they deserved thanks to the NME. Been a fan since a young un growing up listening to Disintegration on cassette in the car on long journeys. Boy's Don't Cry has always been one of my favourite songs and The Exploding Boy and In Between Days is the best Single and B-Side ever. Charlotte Sometimes, Friday I'm In Love, Lovesong, Lovecats, Just Like Heaven, Lullaby, A Forest the list of classics just rolls on and on. The Cure. J'adore. StanSP Posted 7 March 2009 Share Posted 7 March 2009 I recently got the Free Covers CD whcih came with NME magazine. Had originally only heard Cure's version of Boys Don't Cry and Close to Me. But after hearing each cover on the CD, I am beginning to see what I've missed!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 March 2009 Share Posted 7 March 2009 Arthouse wank. Robert Smith kicks Cartman in the balls! "Disintergration is the best album ever dude!" (Though I disagree with Kyle - it's not even the best The Cure album ever.)

Some of their recent stuff has been poor - though that's just my opinion.
Matt Posted 29 March 2009 Share Posted 29 March 2009 Which tunes? Some of their recent stuff has been poor - though that's just my opinion. Classics like, Boys Don't Cry, Inbetween Days, Friday I'm In Love, e.t.c. That's what amazed me!
act smiley Posted 29 March 2009 Share Posted 29 March 2009 Which tunes? Some of their recent stuff has been poor - though that's just my opinion. Wouldn't disagree with that opinion though, everything after Bloodflowers has been mediocre. Pity really. However, it is physically impossible for anyone to not love In Between Days, surely.
