Rt Hon Percy Longprong Posted 17 January 2008 Posted 17 January 2008 In my not inconsiderable period of time listening to music I have to say that La Winehouse has the singlemost soultastic female voice. Ever. Fact. Whilst yet again bowing to your more superior "posting" & the fact that you're a complete fecking know-all You are wrong The High Priestess of Soul-------Nina Simone is the best & THAT my friend is FACT!!

Your posting style reminds me of someone. You are Wherethefoxhat aren't you? Did my constant questioning of the missing "t" in your name drive you to open a new account? If so then I'm sorry. And if I am talking absolute arse I'm sorry for that too.

General Smuts Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 Whilst i do like a fair few of those already mentioned and at the risk of sounding like your typical NME reader, there are a few very good 'soulful' (note the inverted commas) young, female especially, singers floating about at the moment. Of the top of my head, ADELE - Laura Marling - Laura Groves Nick Harrison Duffy - Mercy Alice Russell - Jill Scott - Mpho Skeef *Featured on Coldcut's Sound Mirrors album on - Bembe Segue Tawiah Daniel Merriweather - Find 'We Can Work It Out' - Mark Ronson cover with Tawiah and Sean Lennon. Very good. Jamie Lidell Amos Lee - Florence And The Machine - Some aren't as new as others and i may have gone of on a bit of a wild tangent with some bands there, but these are what my iTunes kicked back to me. EDIT: Thas's all the vid evidence i could peep for the time being.
Head Honcho Posted 20 January 2008 Posted 20 January 2008 If you like Jill Scott have a listen to this cheeky little Northern Soul stormer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xclu3Dy3Qc...feature=related

MC Prussian Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 As a matter of fact, I just downloaded Stevie Wonder's No.1 Collection two days ago. Songs like "Master Blaster (Jammin')" or "Sir Duke" bring back memories from my early childhood.
