That's because Chambers was played out of position - at left full back.

It must have been another match then - but going forward he was tigerish and swift but had no idea when it came to the final pass.

You're quite right about Chambers as a left-back. Although he has played there previously, he is clearly out of position.

I thought Stearman was woeful once again last night.

He improved, like much of the squad, in the last ten minute, when the fans finally got going.

I'd like to see a bit more of Chambers in the right back position.

I think he's a lot quicker than Stearman and provides more of an attacking threat.

I'm not slating Stearman but some of his performances have been poor but he's young and still learning so we've got to give him a chance.

I don't think he was woeful last night, he was half decent coming forward and I've certainly seen him play worse, however as usual he is skinned to easily, doesn't close people down anywhere near qucik enough and allows people to get crosses in too much. Also not great in the air, but theres worse than him.

Thought Stearman was our best player in the first half last night and only bettered by Chambers in the 2nd half. Hope he keeps it up.

I wouldn't say that Rik - but he definately has had an injection of belief from somewhere, and played the proper ball rather than the hoof more times than not. There were times he reverted to type but managed to pull himself together again.

I'm looking forward to Saturday.

Stearman had another good game last night. i think some people get blinkered by the fact that they just dont like him, whether thats because they dont like the look of him or based on watching previous games when he hasn't had such good games (or has frankly played sh*t - but hen again over the last few years he certainly wouldnt have been the only one!!)

OK its not fashionable to like Stearman thats obvious, and he might have girly spindle legs, but i think he is a bloody good player & a bit crouch like in that he's got a good touch for a big (tall) lad!! ;)

I just wish people would give him a chance.

Having said that i'm not saying Chambers wouldnt do better, but for the most part when he's played this season he IMO has been woefull! I think both will benefit from having a run of games in their actual natural positions?

BOTH Stearman & Mattock are poor neither will be in the team at the end of the season.. Holloway will soon sus this and replace them :yesyes:

How come you have turned into a rebel ? I always had you down as a background kinda guy. Never thought you would dare step up and be a someone.

At the end of the day has anyone even mentioned that Stearmans natural position is centre back? He plays average right back because that isnt even his natural position. How many lanky right backs do you see? Not many.

If MaCauley or Kissa get injured then pop him centre back instead of N'Gotty (as he is drawing his pension) and give him a chance. I think chambers should be RB when he's fit. People need to get off stearmans back because really he isn't a 'natural' right back.

Stearman may have played most of his youth and reserve games at centreback, but he's not strong enough to play there at first team level. He lacks strength and is fairly poor in the air - how can you play centreback well if you're lacking in those areas?
