the_bowman Posted 23 December 2007 Posted 23 December 2007 Benn getting some stick from my mates recently for supporting Leicester and Burton, so just wondering what everyone's views are. I personally have no problem with it. They are three divisions apart (although that could change the way things are going!), and really are unlikely to encounter each other. It's not exactly glory hunting (for example, supporting Man U and Arsenal), I just want the teams to succeed. So, what are your views? I'm voting for it depends, but I just wanted to know what everyone else thinks.
Jack Posted 23 December 2007 Posted 23 December 2007 I reckon it's alright supporting two teams if like you one is a local non-league team and the other your team that you follow e.g Leicester. But I can't stand people that Support two teams and one of them is one of the big four.
Bryn Posted 23 December 2007 Posted 23 December 2007 Course you can. Doubt you could get away with say supporting Liverpool and Man Utd though.

I agree, that's really what I'm getting it. I support Leicester because I was brought up a Leicester fan and it's my local 'big' team I suppose. And I support Burton because it's my very local team, where you really feel like more of I fan I believe, with your money benefiting the club a lot more, and the kind of place where if you shout to a player to shoot, he actually hears you.
Hugo Sanchez Posted 23 December 2007 Posted 23 December 2007 I support Leicester first and formost but i have always liked Arsenal because of my cousins. I supported them before leicester and wasn't till the 3-3 game at Filbert St that Leicester was my one and only team. I still watch arsenal and follow them. Now a days i follow Arsenal just to wind up the Man Utd fans but will always have a soft spot for the Gunners.
Joe. Posted 23 December 2007 Posted 23 December 2007 Yeah I think you can but you'll only always have one team you really support from the heart.
the_bowman Posted 23 December 2007 Author Posted 23 December 2007 Yeah I think you can but you'll only always have one team you really support from the heart. To be honest, I disagree with that. I really want the best for Leicester and Burton, I'd love to see them both in the Premiership, even if that is highly unlikely! I love both teams and would never give up my support for either of them.

Well I'll accept that to be honest. But like somebody else said earlier, I don't think it'd be possible to support two big teams if you get what I mean.

I agree. I don't think you can really support two teams from the heart if they are both relativley big clubs, I think one of them has to be a local non-league club really.

WetFlannel Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 Well i used to support Liverpool, until i discovered what real football was
the_bowman Posted 24 December 2007 Author Posted 24 December 2007 Well i used to support Liverpool, until i discovered what real football was I'm so sorry I hope you got over the trauma soon enough
Simi Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 I couldn't see myself giving the same passion to any other team apart from Leicester. I just couldn't do it. I have soft spots for teams, but nothing more than that.
James. Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 No. Certainly not in the way I'd define "support". Like Ched says I keep an eye on some team's results or have a soft spot for them but it's nothing more.
Mikey Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 I couldn't see myself giving the same passion to any other team apart from Leicester. I just couldn't do it.I have soft spots for teams, but nothing more than that. Agreed.
MC Prussian Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 No.Certainly not in the way I'd define "support". Like Ched says I keep an eye on some team's results or have a soft spot for them but it's nothing more. Same here. Notts County springs to mind.

It's not exactly glory hunting (for example, supporting Man U and Arsenal), I just want the teams to succeed. So, what are your views? I'm voting for it depends, but I just wanted to know what everyone else thinks. Leicester is my main team but I have a soft spot for a few others, Arsenal, Northampton, Lincoln. If Leicester drew Burton in the cup, who would you cheer for?
Asha Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 Depends. You can support Leicester and Hinckley for example, but not two teams in the same league. Personally, i 'support' Notts County as well, but Leicester would have the slight more love from me
Micky Ruddle Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 I did when i was about 3/4/5 years of age. Leicester, Arsenal, Newcastle. Then i realised, Leicester - it's where i'm from, they will have my support. I like to see Quorn do good. Despite living in Sileby, i look for their results, along wiht Hinckley, but i don't support them.
Jay Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 I think it's impossible to be honest!! I live and breath Leicester City Football Club I could never show the interest, devotion, feeling or desire to follow any other football club like I do Leicester City!!
lee7 Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 I think it's impossible to be honest!!I live and breath Leicester City Football Club I could never show the interest, devotion, feeling or desire to follow any other football club like I do Leicester City!! same.
Asha Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 There's a difference though between supporting, and in most people's cases 'taking an interest in the results of'.
AyewJoking Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 Never trust someone who supports more than one team. They are lower than a 100% loyal Leeds supporter.
Floating Fox Posted 24 December 2007 Posted 24 December 2007 I would say yes, but when this is "supporting" a big team, no. I like plenty of other teams, I wouldn't say I supported them though, but yeh nothing wrong with Burton & Leicester at all
