I don't know why but a Mona Lisa avatar with the words "Matt Elliott" beneath it is surprisingly amusing.

Very good discipline. :D:D

When I saw you'd posted in this thread I was expecting a Thracian special!

I'm impressed that you've restrained too. ;)

Some of our dim-witted fans wanted Kaebi to be a waste from the start so we can keep playing the mediocre kids in our academy but from speaking to some of my pals who have seen him play they do admit that he looks almost lost in our football and way too light-weight.

I haven't seen him play myself but by all accounts it seems he is like a fish out of water but he wouldnt be the first foreign import who came here and needed to beef up a touch and learn the lingo to then display his talents. The one that stands out the most was Robert Pires who was so weak and light-weight before he bulked out and became a class act for Arsenal. Even players like Drogba was laughed at as being useless after his first season but now is seen as one of the best all round strikers in the world and his team mate Shevchenko, who 2 years ago was classed as one of the best forwards in the world looks like a donkey in our football!

Lets not make the lad out to be totally useless, just that 2007/08 at 21 with us wasn't the right time for him maybe? Lets hope he enjoys a successful career though as he must have something having bagged all those International caps at such a tender age.

If you'd been around I did make the suggestion that he should spend probably half-a-season here acclimatising so that the coaches could assess his best position and perhaps iron out particular problems. But no, it was all give him a chance, give him a chance...

Frankly I doubt he was good enough anyway.

Lets be fair though, you have always pushed for the inclusion of the kids before they are actually ready so we can blood them in almost and in fact you are quoted as saying last season that it would be better for us to be relegated and play a load of the kids to build them up.

Kaebi may well have done well with us had he had a season to acclimatize and a proper pre-season as if memory serves me, he didn't have that as he was still awaiting International clearance but I may well be wrong. Either way it seems as he was nowhere near ready for us but that doesn't make him a bad player.

he was also on Asian Cup duty which kept him away for a month after signing

I don't think the performances of Stearman, Mattock, Porter, Wesolowski, Sheehan or King suggest they weren't ready at all.

Two have already been the subject of bids/enquiries from bigger clubs than ours and all six played their parts in at least equal measure to the seniors around them and certainly far better than anything I saw for any length of time from Kaebi.

Furthermore I am quite sure that, if the opportunity arises, those youngsters will do even better in a good side just the same as others like Clemence, Hume etc.

Sometimes you need to see players in the first team to see whether they are up to it. What if we'd kept Laczko and Bori in the reserves for the rest of the season?

I don't know why we bother entering in to reasoned debate with Thracian.

He's completely incapable of participating in it.

Why is there still a debate on this dude! I admit I was one of those supporting this guy, due only to his hype when we signed him. Surely now, everyone can see that he isn't cut out for Championship football. Holloway even gave him his chance in the first team. He is now transfer listed my Ollie, can we please put it to rest and say he simply wasn't what we thought he would be, end of! Time to move on I think.

How would that have happened?

If they'd gone into the reserves their ability would have stood out in an instant.

That never happened with Kaebi.
