I think the point people are trying to get at James is the fact Lackzo played so well against Cov and has been very poor since.

The writing was on the wall after the Cov game - so much expectation surrounded him. People left right and centre putting him in their signature, changing their avaters to a pic of him, saying he's a godlike etc etc.

That kind of behaviour is so naive. I'm not getting on the fella's back, at the end of the day he's played one good game and the rest have been wank, disregarding the fact he has only been here a few weeks, it's a fact.

I hope he succeeds, but thre is big expectation at this club and people do expect things to happen straight away unfortunately

Yes, naive kids....

The bloke has turned out to be a duffer and not up to it.

Ronaldo didn't need a load of time at Man Utd, he came over here and got on with it.

Stop sticking up for him, anybody else would have been given the sack after a month if it was their job that warranted one good day out of 28.

He's may be the right player at the wrong time. There's no question he needs time to adapt to English football but if we're going to win a relegation battle it hardly seems sensible to me to have someone who's needs acclimatisation time taking such a responsible first team role.

It's really quite ridiculous but there are big differences between what he did against Coventry and what he did today.

He wasn't a winger today. Wingers provide width which stretches the opposition defence across the pitch creating space between defenders for people like Campbell to exploit.

They also take defenders in an effort to get behind the back line and deliver a telling variety of crosses into the box.

Laczko failed today because he didn't provide width, didn't run at defenders, didn't get behind the defence and didn't deliver crosses. Nor can I remember him having any shots.

As an attacker therefore he was effectively impotent.

Instead he had obviously been told to improve defensively and was concentrating on helping Mattock. Trying to use wingers as defenders is something we're always doing at Leicester instead of getting them to understand that the defensive aspect has to be undertaken AS WELL AS the attacking, not instead of.

Laczko's other big downside was moving into the middle too much without delegating someone else to provide the width. Normally, of course, the full-back would do it but Mattock was also preoccupied with defending so the result was we crowded our own space and made ourselves easy to mark and contain.

The fault lies with the player for not really knowing his job and the manager for either not telling/showing him his job or for picking someone who's as yet unable to do his job. Whichever, the job wasn't done properly and with Mattock struggling too today, the whole left flank was a bit of a disaster until Hume and Chambers effected partial repair in the second half.

yep, good game against cov, but the Palace game was played in the centre of the pitch, and when he did get wide, Warnock had obviously done his homework and they had 2 or even 3 on him most times.

What we should have done is exploited that and used our right winger more...sorry, he was on the bench.

Away from home, he'd do a better job as an impact player. Teams come to us to grind out results, we should do the same at their places. If you're 1-0 down with 20-30 to play, bring him on.

You can't say that and expect to get away with it.

Please tell me I don't need to explain why that is a ridiculous comment to make.

My primary concerns with Laczko are:

1. It seems like we are not playing the sort of football that will suit any winger, nevermind Laczko.

2. We are at the wrong end of the table to be relying on players that need acclimatising to the Championship.

This isn't to say Laczko is shit, it's too early to pass judgement. And also we lack any wide players so we are limited to the extent that we can overcome my 2nd concern.

The bottom line is we either recall a winger yet to prove himself in the Championship (Gradel) or we hope that Laczko finds his feet/we start applying different tactics. The last thing I want though is seeing Fryatt or anyone else playing out of position on the wing, that'll be s backward step.

Good post I had missed that comment :crylaugh:

SPOT ON - and we will struggle on a cabbage patch.

is it me or is laczko rubbish.

great game against cov.

sh*t in every other game- sh*t enough to get subbed at half time.

Yes not good enough - it aint about 'acclimatising' or some other bullshit excuse - tell Zola about acclimatising, or Vialli - a good player is a good player is a good player - I hope to see him improve but actually see more potential in Bori

Exactly!!.

Had this player been a real gem, do you really think Leicester would have ended up with him?.

Since Leicester spent a few years punching above their weight in the Premiership, some people on here think Leicester are something. Leicester are nothing more than a mediocre club, so any chances of us stumbling across some wing wizard and signing him before anyone else is highly unlikely.

glad you agree - i hope I'm wrong of course, and that he comes good...but myself I'd have given the young uns a chance on the wing (Chambers, maybe even Billy Kee?) - and I think Mattock is wasted at left back - get him forward and let him attack full backs

Kee is still way to young, not really had that much time in the reserves.

What an odd comment!! So no teams apart from those in the prem/told 6 of the championship can make a cracking singing that no-one has really heard of before?! There are so many examples that disprove this.

Hahaha what a ridiculous point made above about a good player being a good player and not needing time to acclimatise.

Thierry Henry, Patrice Evra, Nemanja Vidic were all awful at the start of their English careers. And, before some pedant picks up on it, I'm not comparing ability levels.

i dont rate laczco had good game against coventry palace and norwich games he was absolutley auful(sorry about spelling), i think bori plays quite well maybe play him and hume with howard and hayles uprfont.

I cant see how putting Kee or Chambers will help us out at all, silly comment imo

I also agree with Martyn and Shrenchel, Wenger himself has says it takes top players a good 6 months to acclimatise.

I rate Laczko and have full faith that he will be fine in this league. I mean come on, he has got great hair!

Any player that comes to us is destined to be awful with our willy puller fans stepping on them at every opportunity. Give the lad a fooking chance :frusty:

Any player on either wing is going to struggle if 1) not given the ball and 2) once in possession of the ball has no obvious passing opportunity at hand, as was the case against Blackpool. Our central midfield has a lot to answer for in this respect. Play the ball along the floor to them and they should release it down the wings. But this don't happen. Why not? There ain't even a sign of anything "this creative" happening!

Surely it's a simple thing to do. No? Obviously not.

I feel sorry for him. No doubt he has good technical ability. Doesnt seem to get enough of the ball though in the final third. Our defenders and midfielders seem to lump in long to Howard at the earliest opportunity, rather than looking to the wings, as a result he loses discipline and goes searching for the ball affecting our balance. Also no doubt he hasnt played football like this, 100 mph, physical up and at them. He is adjusting and im confident we will see the best of him once he adapts to the Championship and also when our players adapt to him.

It is funny that all wingers. strikers and even midfielders seem to struggle at Leicester and one day people will realise and accept that while we continue to hump the ball out of defence that will happen.

A fan who's followed Leicester 55 years and missed 8 games home, away and abroad in that time, shared the same concerns yesterday and mention was made of how good we were when we had quality footballers at centre-back like Ian King, John Sjoberg and Tony Knapp.

Attacking starts from the goalkeeper. DavieG has often mentioned how rarely any of our goalkeepers throw the ball out and you have to ask why? Premiership goalkeepers often throw the ball to start an attack.

And that's where we need to start and then move onto the backline and so on through the team. United offer such wonderful examples of what I mean. People like Ferdinand, Brown, Evra don't do anything complicated. But they do pass the ball quickly along he floor and they do have the energy to support, and at pace, for 90 minutes.

One hundred per cent correct.

Agreed against Coventry for the first time it looked as though we were starting to get all our midfielders in the game but since then we have just been smashing the ball up to howard with no pace upfront to even make the knock ons count.

Its funny how when we start passing the ball to the midfielders they actually play well. Laczko does drift far too much to the centre but I'm pretty sure that is down to frustration because the ball just keeps getting lumped up to Howard, he is just trying to get himself in to the game, he rarely drifted in against Coventry he stayed wide and got some good balls in.

Both Laczko and Bori are young. They're new to the country the league and many other things. I don't expect them to be nutmegging every full back in the championship from the word go. I'll reserve my jedgement until the end of the season, and I really hope it works out for both of them.

Its a shame other fans don't think like that tbh.

Yeah, I've mentioned this a couple of times.

This is one of the reasons that it worked against Coventry because we utiilised them properly. With two genuine wingers we had plenty more options and Hume up-front allowed us to have another dimension when going forward.

This is why I think we're a little restricted with Hayles and Howard, both aren't that mobile and I think it makes us very one dimensional and narrow because of the way they play. With Hume or DJ playing up front they can drop off and provide support that the wingers need and link up. Neither Hayles or Howard give us this, but are both good in different areas.

I think its a lot to do with him playing with an injury against norwich, you cant judge him yet far too early, i like the look of him seems to get stuck in
