Metartarsal Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Reading the bull*** in the Mercury a year on after he took over, can someone tell me what positive contribution that Mandaric has made to this club? Why is no one having a pop at Milan? Maybe those who opposed his takeover had a point. He paid little money up front to buy the club in the beginning and hasnt spent any of his own money in the last few months. He's no saviour, just a Serbian Ron Noades who wants to do everything. Be honest - we've had more managers than I've changed underwear. It's not the manager's fault anymore. How can you manage a team when your boss keeps interfering all the time? All he does is give the journalists - and Barber - the quotes he wants, even if he contradicts himself. He gets players in over the head of the manager. His finances are the subject of mystery and in recent months, the subject of police investigation. He's even exchanged an embarrassing chief executive for one who was involved in scandal. There were rumours last year of other groups coming in to form a bid. It's just that Mandaric was able to get his bid together before they could. Give them a try and bring an end to this farce. The farce will continue even if Ollie gets the sack.

Unlike you, some of us weren't under the impression that the absloutle state this club was in before he took over, would be completlet reversed within the space of one year. We wanted Kelly gone, we wanted Worthington gone, Megson left us, that leaves Allen. See below. He's invested in players (when Allen goes throwing seven figures at players like Campbell can you blame him for sacking him/getting involved in tranfers) and the police investigation came to nothing. As I keep saying where would we be without investment, probabley bottom.

LaDiscotekHorn Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Anyone here who was racially abusing Al Bangura should be ashamed of themselves. I don't know what was said, I only learnt about it here just reading up but it's disgraceful. Also, to the fan who said Watford are far from a Premiership fan, I agree, Boothroyd is not the manager to successfully take us up.

I think we need to be careful about how we talk about those chants. I was there and while I didn't sing along some of them made me smile. In my opinion they were not racist and defining them as such will only create more problems. "We heard you came in a lorry" and "Where's your passport gone?" may be insensitive but it's a football match and worse things have been said. To me that was banter as opposed to overt racsim. Touchy subject and I wouldn't be surprised to hear many people disagree with me.
ibbosuk Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 After tonight maybe Dowie could be no worst. Could do really well here and with abit of money.Getting Ollie was a mistake and we all make mistake in life and takes a bigger man to put his hands up and say i was wrong. I'm still behind Milan 100 %, he wants what we all wants and has put a good amount of money to the club. I just hope Milan gets rid of Ollie and brings in Davies. Early days yes, but the stats back the guy up, "Ollie" is shaping up to be one of the worst City managers ever. Championship played 17/ won 4/ drawn 5/ lost 8/ scored 15/ conceded 19/ pts 17 17 pts from a possible 51 Ollies current rate of a point a game will definately get us relegated. P.S. not included the 2-0 FA cup defeat in the stats

It would be nice to see some signs of improvement and some return on the investment that we rthe fans have made, rather than MM. I also expect a chairman to manage the business of the the club and let a manager manage - and pick the right one in the first place. The police investigation is still pending, isn't it?
Bryn Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE SAY WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUEWasn't a pretty performance towards the end but we had to, everyone was knackered and we lacked the extra man. The Linesman on ourside was pathetic, O'Tooles red card was probably justified, I thought it was a yellow but that would of been fair enough. The thing that rattled everyones cage was play carried on when O'Toole pulled on Clemence's shirt, then the second Clemence spins around and starts going mental, the linesman then puts his flag up and it takes the referee a further 5 seconds to blow his whistle. Incompetent twat. Leicester were average, strung some passes together but the recipient didn't know what to do with it, Howard was played out the game by Shittu and Campbell did fook all bar run it off the pitch in the first half. The two wingers didn't get the ball, the very few times they did they looked alright, but as I said, didn't get it enough. Clemence didn't really do a lot, Oakley was the only man who had that extra bit of skill needed, but everytime they got the ball Eustace or Bangura was on them as quick as you can shout vaginal fluid. Ellington was decent, shouldn't of gone off but Aidy had one thing in mind, power for shielding the ball in time wasting and Henderson has a hell of a lot of it, held five players off at once at one stage laugh.gif Ainsworth was very good in the first half, looked very scary for the Leicester defence, he shouldn't of come off, McAnuff was playing well but not as good as Lionel, was a shame for him. Jamie Clapham is a fooking mouthy little ****, every time the ref sent a decision our way he would run 20 yards and shout the odds to the referee, and kept falling to the floor like he was legless when Henderson stood his ground, ****. Alnwick, fantastic goalkeeper who kept you in it on a couple of occasions, once with a Gordon Banks-esque save on the floor to tip it over after a rifle from the Duke, he got a standing ovation from us for that. All in all, one of those games that are emotional and get you riled up, singing and shouting for 90 minutes and on the edge of your seat, not noticing the bitter breeze or that you just poured hot tea down someones leg. Vital three points and E I E I E I O. Oh. Hai2U La Discotek. Were they really getting at Bangura?

We were all aware that we could well end up chopping and changing managers and end up being shit for quite awhile when he bought the club, we knew this as that is exactly what happened at Portsmouth. He said promotion inside three years, and I don't believe that, but I think that if given the three years he's asked for, Mandaric can take this club forward. As far as I'm aware he's not been charged for any crime and therefore I don't see why it's an issue.
LaDiscotekHorn Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Oh. Hai2U La Discotek. Were they really getting at Bangura? Yeah that's me,
hellIfIKnow Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 As for Vicarage Road - shit ground, no atmosphere. The Watford fans needed drums to create noise and the side stands were piss-poor when it came to support. Top of the league - hell yeah! Hello, I am a Watford fan. I wasn't able to go so will not comment on the game itself, but I fail to see how the nature of our ground has any impact on our eligibility to be top of the league.
Joe. Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 I didn't go last night and so I'm generalising over the season here. I've said before how on paper we actually have a good enough team to fight well in this division. It's the wingers. We don't actually have one single player in our first team squad who can consistently beat their man and deliver a decent cross in. Despite it's unlikeliness, Scott Sinclair could potentially be the man to get us out of this horrible mess we've got ourselves in. People moan how poor Howard was last night and how poor he's been since he came here but what can he really do when he's just used as a bloody target all game? A good winger would change all of that. Howard might start scoring some goals from crosses instead. We live in hope...
The People's Hero Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Mate - I wouldn't worry about what City fans say - it's been so long since we've been good, we're not really qualified to comment. One thing though - your kit is fu cking awful. Sort it out. Go for a nice blue or sommat.
Simi Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 I cannot help coming away from the game last night extremely downhearted and disappointed. When you're playing against a side that has 10 men for the whole second half and some of the first half, not having a shot on target is completely unacceptable. The first half we actually started quite well, had some decent possession, but the worry was that it came to nothing far to often. DJ was making some intelligent runs but was often ignored. Then we'd find ourselves in a position down the wing with a chance to cross, but end up being forced out and then we see the inevitable back-pass to the keeper, meaning we have to start all over again. It was the story of the match. I must say I still think it's a red card, although on another day Clemence won't get as lucky. He then wasted the resulting free kick. To go and concede the goal when we did was absolutely criminal. It should have been us lashing them with pressure for the last 5 minutes. But instead we relaxed and payed the price big time. Alnwick at fault. I knew he'd get punished eventually for eccentrically coming for the ball like he does. At half time it just felt like a massive kick in the balls having seemingly been given a shot at the match. Holloway bought Laczko on at half time. A good substitution in theory, but Holloway absolutely shafted him I feel. Every time he picked up the ball in a decent position he was told to cross early. There is no doubt he has the ability to run at defenders and get to the byline, but it seemed he wasn't allowed to do this. His crossing wasn't great and it was a wasted outlet. We failed to stretch the game in the second half, which really is a basic tactic when you're playing against 10 men. They wanted the ball to go wide, every time it did they just bunched together and defended it really well. Good support from the fans last night as well I must say, but after another loss it'll only be matter of time before our support gets worse.
Guest Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 Couple of things I noted about last night having never been to vicarage road before, I did like the turning out of the lights in the stands, was weird at first but kinda worked, and 'The Golden Boys' as the announcer kept referring to Watford as seemed like a very camp nickname
hackneyfox Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 FFS EDIT: Nothing to do with anything but I needed to vent this........ it was well annoying to not get home from the match til 12.30 when I live in North London!! How did you get home? I live in Hackney, got bthe 10:15 to Euston, 10:37 from Euston to H&I (last tube) and home for 11ish.

Mate, Im sure we could all say the same to you. You may gain promotion but even if you do, you'll just be like Derby. You'll get smashed every game and come straight back down.
Staf Posted 13 February 2008 Posted 13 February 2008 I didnt go last night but it sounds like it was another depressing show and another defeat. I still feel we need a class striker someone score like Andy Cole i find it hard to be positive like Ollie when we didnt even have a shot on goal

Maybe so, but we get 30 million plus from it, enough money to keep building a better team to finally reach our goal of being a top half prem team, few years off that yet, the fact is as the other watford fan said, what has the fact we have a "shit ground" got to do with us being top?
