Player Ratings vs Preston

Deej was alright although his anticipation is actually terrible.

I dont think this partnership is working to be honest, Howard seems to be doing the fast mobile strikers role, whilst DJ is coming short, holding the ball up and going up for headers.

DJ is a striker and his job is too score goals and he never looks like scoring. Howard .... Words fail me with him.

We weren't that bad tonight, by this season's standards. 5s and 6s is right. The people awarding 3s to Kisnorbo and N'Gotty are having a giraffe. They weren't really troubled much tonight. N'Gotty isn't pretty to watch but he gets the job done and made countless clearances tonight. It was just an average performance, end of.

5s all round for me although Hendrie played quite well.

Sorry but we were very bad tonight. We were playing against one of the worst sides in the league on the back of a good win and yet we didn't look interested. We created next to nothing in fact I don't remeber their keeper having to make a save. 2 strikers who didn't muster a single shot between them and a midfield that basically didn't seem to want to play. yes defenders did ok but they were playing against a team which seemed only interested in a draw. It was a truly inept performance, leaderless and managerless.

What makes me angry is that these overpaid prima donnas get away with this level of performance week in week out. IF I performed like that at my job I would have been sacked (without compensation nor paid off) long ago!

N'Gotty missed a lot of headers tonight.

A LOT.

And when he did miss, he pushed their centre forward over a number of times, giving away needless fouls. Was very clumsy aswel, didnt inspire any confidence. And his distribution was as bad as McAuleys. On that performance, i'd have McAuley back tomorrow.

Sorry but he was awful. The reason howard has to drop deep etc is because DJ doesn't ever seem to understand that he might try doing that as well. His firts touch is poor he isn't strong enough on the ball and you're right his anticipation is non existent.

Henderson-6-Nothing to do

Clapham-7-Solid

Bruno-7-Made some key clearences

Kisnorbo-6-Ok

Hume-4-Headless chicken, when is Ollie going to realise this guy can't play on the wing

Clemence-2-Gave the ball away, a shit captain, doesn't inspire the players, shit in nearly all his games

Oakley-5-Didn't realise he was playing

Hendrie-6-Ok

Howard-4.5-Im not sure about Howard, he did nothing again today

Campbell-4.5-Again did nothing

Subs:

Mattock-6-Did what he could with the clueless manager putting him on the wing, this guy is an England U21 Left Back not a fecking Left Midfielder

Hayles-4-Possibly should have scored, didn't give us anything

Fryatt-4-Is this guy ever onside? I think we need 2 more new strikers.

Ollie will use the linesman as an excuse today. i aint got a clue why the 3rd goal was disallowed, but the main facts are we didn't create anything in open play, we didn't have a shot on target, their keeper had no saves to make. If you don't count the own goal we haven't scored in over 4 and a half hours of football. Preston played for the draw, but credit to them, they came up with a bit of class that we don't have and a goal like that is worthy of winning any match.

What excuses will you come up with for that Ollie?

No shots on target today, no chances made in open play, no match winners on the bench.

He looks like scoring and then blows it. To be honest both of them have lost confidence and especially DJ who probably needs it more. I wouldn't say their bad players though. Howard is going through a rough patch and maybe needs resting a few games.

Ive put this in another post but the lad needs some kind of confidence, what i liked about him is that hes still trying to take players on. What i didn't like was his communication with Howard as well as him anticipating anything. Look at Micheal Owen okay hes not firing in all cylinders at the moment but he gets himself into positions where he thinks 'if they miss it im there'. Bit of a crazy example as Owen is of a more higher standard of DJ but surely he could do the same thing.

Henderson 7 (Great block early on, no chance with the goal)

Stearman 5.5

Kisnorbo 5 (Seemed to think he had minutes to dwell on the ball before passing it to the opposition)

N'Gotty 5 (see Kisnorbo)

Clapham 6 (Crap in patches but tried to engineer something)

Hume 3 (Appalling, visibly frustrated and clearly knows that was his last chance)

Clemence 2 (Captain Craptastic! Surely a pass completion of lower than 20%)

Oakley 3.5 (Stephen Hughes-esque performance without the goal threat)

Hendrie 4 (Put himself about but no ball control whatsoever)

Howard 4 (Offers no more than de Vries playing like that, granted he had no service)

Campbell 4 (£2.1million :crylaugh:)

Subs:

Mattock 5 (Looked a bit lost at times but we shouldn't be looking for a 17-year-old to dig us out the shit)

Hayles 6 (Not bad)

Fryatt 7 (Nice touches, stuck it in the back of the net twice, surely better than DJ "I've got a better goal ratio because of 2 more tap-ins in 3 or so less appearances" Campbell)

Only players who really tried for me were:

Hume (at times, when he had the ball i thought something would happen, but too inconsistant)

Hendrie (first half looked like he wanted to make things happen, but seemed to disappear in the second half)

Clapham (looked pretty solid)

Kisnorbo (playing well, until he fell over for the goal)

Fryatt (looked like he was keen and looked the only player likely to score)

Hendo (solid in goal, demands the defence well, wasn't at fault for the goal)

The only positive (if there is one) is that we didn't sit back defending the draw, which is what has happened before. At least we were positive and were going for the win when N'Gotty and Kisnorbo were caught at the back with their goal.

Henderson 6 - Good shot stopping in the first seconds but shit kicking, seems to put back spin on it every time.

Stearman 7 - Decent game.

Kisnorbo 7 - One of the better defenders

N'Gotty 5 - Constantly leaving the ball to Stearman when he should have dealt with it, passing was atrocious.

Clapham 7 - Got forward well and defended well, put in some tasty crosses which no one attacked.

Hume 4 - Looked threatening at times on the run but picked the wrong ball and was isolated a lot out wide.

Oakley 5 - Awful first half, never seen him so bad, perked up in the second and remembered how to pass.

Clemence 5- Iffy start but got more into the game....then subbed.

Hendrie 6 - Some clever passing to open up the back 4 but often crowded out by Prestons 5 man midfield.

Howard 3 - Owned by Mawene in the air and looked lazy to me.

DJ 3 - Awful, looked like he'd given up when 'chasing' a lot of things and never looked like scoring or working the channels, disappointing.

Subs:

Fryatt 7 - A positive with his sharp finishing, shame about the nobhead with the flag.

Hayles 3 - What does this bloke do?

Mattock 3 - Gave the ball away for their goal by trying to do too much, inexperience showing.

I think I watched a different game to everyone else:

Henderson - 6 - Nothing really to do, nothing he could do to stop the goal.

Stearman - 6 - Solid enough

Kisnorbo - 5.5 - Think he looked the weaker of the centre-halves

N'Gotty - 6 - Didn't think he was as bad as everyone makes out. I thought he was more comfortable on the ball than Kisnorbo

Clapham - 6.5 - I like this guy. He's calm on the ball, always looks to play it and a hoof is a final resort

Hume - 4 - Wasted on the wing. Hasn't got a good enough touch, pass or cross to play out wide at this level

Clemence - 4 - Poor game. Supposed to keep the midfield tidy, but just looked off the pace

Oakley - 6.5 - Good energy, tried to keep the ball moving, was always buzzing about

Hendrie - 6.5 - Looks the most likely to unlock a defence and create. Think he will be a good loan signing.

Howard - 4 - Not at the game today

Campbell - 5.5 - His pace and constant movement was a concern for their centrebacks. If maybe not the results.

Subs

Mattock - 5 - He's not got the ability to be a left winger

Fryatt - 6 - Didn't look out of place when he came on. Like DJ, needs to watch the line because he was offside

Hayles - 5.5 - Can't fault the guy for commitment and effort

I thought our problem tonight was not having a central midfielder on the bench. When he took Clemence off, we had to bring on Mattock and move Hendrie to the centre. Hendrie may be better individually in the centre but I think our team is better with him on the flanks to provide some creativity. We didn't need two fullbacks on the bench (Mattock and Chambers). Should have had Wesolowski or King.

Also, I never think it works bringing two forward on together at the same time. Bring one on 10-15 mins on before the other to see how it goes rather than completely reshape a forward line - but that's just a pet hate of mine.

Can't be bothered to rate them individually, but the defence I thought did ok and everyone else was pretty much shite apart from Hendrie maybe.

Atmosphere was beyond shit. People around me looked at me like I was absolutely conkers when I tried to join in some of the songs coming from the back of the kop. Geezer next to me asked me not to swear (which I was only doing very occassionally and quite lightly anyway) because there were kids around. When I pointed out that he could sit in the family stand if he wanted, he told me to 'fook off', eeeeeeerm what?!

i want to relive last night as little as possible, so reading through the whole of this thread is a no-no, hopefully being hulled off like that was the beginning of the end of Clemence, or at the very least his captaincy

Dont normally do owt in here but i thought Hendrie played pretty well.

When Clem (CRAP AGAIN!) i watched him and Ollie in the dug out.

Clem sat on his own,no contact at all with Ollie and Ollie completely blanked him.

Maybe ANOTHER player falling out with Ollie????

I've said too much......

Henderson - 6 - Few good saves, Couldnt do anything about the goal

Stearman - 5 - Pushed up well few times but defended poorly.

Kisnorbo - 6 - Didnt do much wrong, Pretty solid

N'Gotty - 6 - Didnt do much worng, Feel more secure with McAuley at the back though.

Clapham - 5 - Played ok few good crosses & few bad hoofs.

Hendrie - 5 - Looked alright for about 10 mins, Went missing for parts of the game

Clemence - 3 - Looked off the pace, Couldnt Pass. Did nothing

Oakley - 6 - Got stuck in, few good passes but wasnt effective enough

Hume - 5 - Quiet game

Campbell - 5 - Ran well at times, didnt offer much

Howard - 4 - Didnt win anything in the air, offered nothing on the ground either. Get out of Mawene's pocket!

Posted

Henderson - 7 - Did alright, although didn't really have much to do. Nearly saved us at the end.

Stearman - 6.5 - Solid game and good going forward.

N'Gotty - 6.5 - What we've been missing, a bit of calmness at the back and much better distribution than Mcauley.

Kisnorbo - 6.5 - Good solid game, especially in the air.

Clapham - 5.5 - Where was he all game???

Hume - 4.5 - Very Quiet all game.

Clemence - 4.5 - Glad he's injured, he's meant to be our captain!! Oh, and if your reading Clem - when you get the ball go

FORWARD!!!!!

Oakley - 5.5 - Was decent and spread the ball around quite well.

Hendrie - 6 - Was quite good and has a good delivery but was tired and shows that he hasn't been playing much.

Howard - 5.5 - Head the Bloody ball!!

DJ - 5 - Made some good runs - but the cheating linesman flagged everytime. Apart from that **** all.

Subs

Hayles - 5 - Crap.

Fryatt - 6.5 - Had a great game for the 15 minutes he was on. Unlucky not to score those goals.

Mattock - 5.5 - Was solid.

Holloway - 4 - Tactics completely wrong AGAIN!"!!!!

Fans - 7 - Tried to get it going and in the beginning of the 2nd half the great escape was going for a while.

Linesman - -10 Go to ****in specsavers and take money from the FA, not Preston.

Ref - -5 - Never stopped bumming Preston

We've played far worse this season, just sods law that we got hit by a sucker punch at the end.

First half dire, second half better.

At least we had some desire at the end and we attacked, has anyone seen replays of the decisions to see if they were unjust?

Anyone know what the last goal was disallowed for?, was it because Henderson wasn't allowing their defender to rip his shirt off?

Fair play to Hendrie, taking the corners at the end he was actually showing some urgency and also trying to whip the kop up.
