lavrentis Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 At the Moment Film: Last king of Scotland Actor: Tom Hanks
MikeyT Posted 5 March 2008 Author Posted 5 March 2008 Best actor of all time He is certainly one of my favourites, but i dunno about all time. I think he's probably still a bit too young to be considered up there in the all time greats list! But he certainly has the pedigree to be one of the best in the future. He's gone from strength to strength! The Bourne series certainly helped his career rocket! I think the all time greats have to be: De Niro Pacino Brando Hoffman and even though only made 3 films i think James Dean was amazing!!!! And i know he was young as well so had the prospect to be arguably the finest screen actor ever. With Matt Damon and Edward Norton certainly being in the running one day.
Samilktray Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Im a fan of Scarface, not sure if its my favourite though.
MikeyT Posted 5 March 2008 Author Posted 5 March 2008 Im a fan of Scarface, not sure if its my favourite though. Again, one of my favourites ever! Great film!
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 5 March 2008 Posted 5 March 2008 Im not a big movie buff. Fav Actors. Eric Bana - To watch him as a stand up comedian and then comic actor to big movie star has been great. Also he is just a really simple nice guy who is in love with St Kilda in AFL is a massive bonus Adam Sandler - just cos. The 2 from Hot fuzz and Shawn of the dead - They are an excellet duo. Fav films- Black Hawk Down, Mick Basset England Manager, The Castle, Football Factory
Zingari Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 favourite films, life of brian and blues brothers favourite actors, tommy lee jones and robert de niro
Dr The Singh Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 Favourite actor is Yograj SIngh: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpWXCGXDfyE Best ever film is Basic Instinct!!
Ric Flair Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 Denzel Washington is a superb actor, The Hurricane, Man On Fire and John Q are sensational films. In fact he pretty much turns any mediocre film in to a great one, just by his film presence. I am also a massive fan of Ray Winstone and Paddy Consintine from the British contingent. I can't ever choose what my favourite film is, there are a lot of amazing films been made. City of God takes some beating though.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 Fave Film: Star Wars (I'm of that generation. I know there's no great acting, but as a 7 year old it was magical!) But as an adult it has to be Citizen Kane - it's just a masterpiece of story telling! Fave actor: Mad Bob DeNiro - made some duffers, but my fave De Niro film is Midnight Run (I hated it when everyone said when Meet the Parents came out that De Niro shows he can do comedy; he'd been doing comedic roles for years! Ignorant critics - how about letting me do your high paid jobs PROPERLY! ) favourite films, life of brian and blues brothers favourite actors, tommy lee jones and robert de niro Best comedy
General Smuts Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 My top 5 fillums - Chasing Amy, Garden State, Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back, Empire Strikes Back, Clerks And not surprisingly after seeing my favourite films, my favourite actor is Kevin Smith even though hes not technically an actor but a director. The 2 films he recently acted in Die Hard 4 and Catch and Release were undoubtedly stolen by him aswell. Actress wise i peep anything with Alba, Johanssen and Portman in it. Hoping for a bit of eye candy.
Uncle Monty Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 Favourite films - Papillion, Repo Man, Withnail and i, Magnolia, Laputa, COG, Riding Giants, Marathon man, well there's loads to be fair I base how good an actor is on their versatility, Dustin Hoffman fits this niche very. Pacino and Bobby are good actors but inherantly play the same role Best Pacino film - Dog day aftternoon Best Bobby film - King of Comedy
The People's Hero Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 To be honest cant think of a bad Tom Hanks film! Can anyone else? Maybe Splash Oh and another of my favs is Roxanne :- Steve Martin anyone seen it? Splash Apollo 13 You've Got Mail The Da Vinci Code

If you had you wouldnt be saying that....especially about De Niro!! Have to say that Dog Day Afternoon is a superb film as well!!!
Uncle Monty Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 Have you seen the majority of their films? If you had you wouldnt be saying that....especially about De Niro!! Have to say that Dog Day Afternoon is a superb film as well!!! Yeah i've seen pretty much every film they've done. To be fair they are quite vaired it just pisses me off that they play the italian american in most films. Also i think a lot of people like just because they think they should - like when people say the best films made are Shawshank or Fightclub.

I think that is unfair because both of those films you mention are superb.
Uncle Monty Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 I think that is unfair because both of those films you mention are superb. Good, not superb
Uncle Monty Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 No, really. They are both superb. And so the band wagon begins..........................
The People's Hero Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 Plot, acting performances, ability of both films to stand up to modern scrutiny a few years after release, re-watchability, multi-layered. They are both superb. I would gladly watch either now, and bloody enjoy them.
James. Posted 6 March 2008 Posted 6 March 2008 And so the band wagon begins.......................... What a bizarre thing to say. I am perfectly capable of forming an opinion on my own. Do you think that just because I agree with someone else that 2 films are superb constitues a bandwagon? You have a lot of growing up to do chap.
