Since 2002 more than 100 players have played for City

Just an interesting fact in todays mercury. I was astounded by it. 100 different players since 2002 have played in the first team.

Also, it said, this season alone we have used 37 different players - more than any other team in the championship. Brizzle City using the least with 25.

That is an unbeleivable turn over, i think another thread has been made on the bit in bold though. i seem to remembr talking about it before.

However 100 players since 2002 that is radiculous, and goes to show how insanely rubbish we are in the transfer market.

And guess which team has done well and which has done badly.

Our approach has been embarrassing and we've deserved everything we've got as a result.

ah. apologies.

It's deserves a topic of it's own.

What I'm wondering is how many of the 100 ever deserved to wear a Leicester City shirt.

I'd guess at about a quarter to a third.

The only positive I can think of is that any aspiring young footballer watching our teams over that period and noting who has been selected should be certain in his mind that with the right effort and application he can carve out a lucrative career playing the game he loves.

When I trained at City there was Banks, Shilton, MicLintock, King, Appleton, Davie Gibson, Howard Riley, Mike Stringfellow and a whole host of others.

Think of what we've had in recent years. I won't name them out of kindness but they wouldn't have got near the training ground, let alone the team, in Gibbo's day.

Yes, but it's inevitable that if you do do well, then you keep pretty much the same nucelus of players. Where as if your utter guff, then you have to find more players to try and improve. Sadly, we haven't improved either, but I can't imagine had we only used 25 players this season we'd be much better off than where we are right now.

But if our leaders chose their signings more than a bit more carefully in the first place...

You're absolutely right. But it always annoys me when I hear people say that teams like Arsenal and Man United are so successful because they've stuck with their managers for many, many years. But the reasons why they stuck with them is because they are very good managers who have made them successful. There comes a time when managers and players cannot be given much more of a chance and have to be replaced, which has happened with us a hell of a lot.

This club wouldn't have gone through so many managers and players if they weren't absolute garbage.

if you had to pick 9 full teams , which one would you leave out ? :)

It's tempting to say the first team!

But player wise it's from Hammill, Sylla or Low and forced to choose one, then Hammill.

Does anyone know the 100 players? It would perhaps be interesting to rate them for their contributions as City players. It would give a good indication of exactly how much m,oney, on the playing side, has been shamelessly squandered.

We could do the same for the managers during that period.

It took Ferguson ages to win anything - it was two or three seasons, wasn't it? Once the trophies start rolling in, attitudes change, but for a club of their stature I think their board was remarkably patient at the time. Can you imagine a new Man Utd manager being allowed to go on that long without a trophy?

It was a few years I think, but Man United hadn't really won much for a few years prior to Ferguson coming in and given what he had achieved up in Scotland with some mediocre clubs, I can understand why they were patient. Probably wouldn't happen in this day and age.

Incidently, going back to Bristol City. Gary Johnson had a similar start to his tenure there as Holloway has done here. They were very incosistent in his first 20 or so games, think they only won a handful of them. Look at them now. It does indeed pay off to be patient at times, but I don't think we've shot ourselves in the foot that much by not being overly patient with players or managers. Not many have gone on to prove we made a mistake in getting rid. We have possibly been too patient with some before Mandaric came in.

It'd be a right effort to name them all.

I'm going to start.

1) John Curtis.

No. But one of them was Peter Canero

Heroes, every single one of them.

Only joking. What a load of old sh*te.

What would be really heartbreaking would be knowing how much all that lot got paid. What would be even worse is if we could add up what we've all spent going to see them

This forum aint half boring.

We'd better be at least half decent next year as we can do something besides moan about anything and everything and listen to Thracian bang on about kids and attacking approaches. It's been 3 years now and I'm fed up
