maddog Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 This guy deserves large praise. He has come in at a critical stage in the season having hardly played and performed extremely well, under extreme pressure. He has made great stops in his games and saving a penalty Saturday just proves what a good keeper he is. All this talk of Fulop for £3m seems crazy when we can stick with Henderson. For me his kicking is just as good as Alnwicks, and his shot-stopping, as he has proved is still there despite not playing in the 1st team much this season. Give him a go at Number 1 next season, before we go splashing the cash, when we could sign a decent Midfielder or Striker instead. Certainly stick with him in goal ahead of Alnwick when he's back from injury. Well done Hendo

However he was number one most of the year last season, and wasn't anything special. Why should next season be any different?
Fat Ron Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 If we go down he will be our Number 1, it certainly wont be Fulop!!! If we manage to stay up Im not so sure, He had a great game on Saturday to be fair to the bloke but his problem is consistancy and confidence. If we are in the Championship then I hopoe than Milan/Ollie/Whoever is in ****ing charge come pre season splashes out to get Fulop.

Dr The Singh Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 Hendo is a good third choice, I get the feeling we won't be seeing him next season!! Good Luck Hendo!!
Thracian Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 It's been no surprise to me that Henderson has deputised so capably but that wouldn't persuade me to chose him over someone like Fulop. Henderson's usually a good shot stopper but he doesn't have the commanding presence of Fulop and tends to make a few more mistakes from what I've seen.
The People's Hero Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 Goalkeeper is the least of our sodding problems. Grumble grumble. Where's my ditchladder?
Fat Ron Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 I like Hendo, He's a bit like Steve Harper.. Happy as a deputy but dependable. Fair play to him.

I think that could work as the middle 8 for a song I'm working on about how you never see Steve Harper and Hendo in the same room together.
Messi Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 Hendo is a good third choice, I get the feeling we won't be seeing him next season!!Good Luck Hendo!! he will go in a deal to swansea in a part exchange for jason scotland
Fox in a Box Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 Hmmm, how many clean sheets has he actually kept?
Fat Ron Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 Hmmm, how many clean sheets has he actually kept? Not many is my bet.....Have you seen his Mrs
lildave3 Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 Henderson has proved what was always known, he's a good shot stopper. Nowhere near good enough for first choice imo.
Simi Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 Henderson has proved what was always known, he's a good shot stopper.Nowhere near good enough for first choice imo. I think this is about right to be honest. Still nowhere near good enough at catching crosses and commanding his defence. The difference was unreal after Fulop left, the defence looked worried and uncertain all the time. If we stay up, I'd definitely still be looking to bring in a new keeper.
Jack Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 He is a good shot stopper and has come in and done a decent job for us. I still shit myself everytime the ball is in the air near him, he just looks very clumsy. His kicking seems to have picked up a bit also. Good keeper to call upon when needed but not good enough for first choice IMO.
RowlattsFox Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 I think he's done enough to hold down the jersey til the end of the season, but a keeper should be a priority in the summer whatever division we are in.
AyewJoking Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 Super Hendo is one of my favourite players but sadly he's a flawed second choice at best.
Joe. Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 Yes he's done very well since he's come back. But he's still nowhere near good enough for the number one shirt yet. His ability to deal with crosses makes me cringe at times and I still don't enerally trust him like I should.
jano Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 Hmmm, how many clean sheets has he actually kept? so its his fault for not keeping clean sheets ? is it not anything to do with the other 10 thats infront of him aswell
dandannieldanok Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 Always liked him whatever people say and have said, I'm sure I'll be in the minority but I really hope Alnwick doesn't replace him whenever he gets fit again.
clazkel Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 Hendo has made some great saves, especially against Hull, and deserves to keep his place but he doesn't command his box as much as he should, and i really worry when crosses come in the box. I don't have as much confidence in him as i did Fulop, but between Hendo and Alnwick, they are both great shot stoppers so i wouldn't mind who is in goal, but prob would stick with Hendo
The Stig Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 He's on a good run of form but if he was number one he'd make some mistakes at some point. If we stay up I'd be looking for someone new in the sticks. He's a good deputy though.
Mr Happy Posted 25 March 2008 Posted 25 March 2008 The difference was obvious in the first forest cup game we played where MA choose Hendo instead of Fulop and we conceded. Second time round Fulop started and even with the free goal we gave them we still kept a solid defense. Fulop is by far a better first choice than Hendo, no disrespect to him but he is going to be limited to second, possibly even third choice with us if we manage to stay up (Fulop would be my No.1 hands down, failing that try getting somebody else in). If we go down I'd still like to think we'd get a better No.1 maybe bringing Logan back.

We were 2-1 down! before we scored 2 in the last 4 or 5 mins. The defence was not great at all, it took a few games for them to adapt to fulop in goal. I wish people would get over fulop. Yes he was great for the club, one of the best keepers we've had in recent years, but he's gone now! We have far bigger problems than a new keeper. Hendo, Conrad or Alnwick (if he stays, doubt it) are fine between the sticks. We need a decent striker and someone who can create something in the middle. Henderson has been on good form considering he has stepped in and not played nearly all season. It would be very harsh to drop him for alnwick....
