SamL Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 Not sure whether it's already been said but... Liverpool's Javier Mascherano has been charged with improper conduct following his sending-off against Manchester United on Sunday.Mascherano must serve a one-match suspension for the red card, but could now miss an additional two games if he is found guilty. The charge relates to his reaction towards referee Steve Bennett after being sent off. The Argentine has been given until 1800 GMT on Thursday to respond. The case is scheduled to be heard on Friday 4 April. The 23-year old appeared to question Bennett's decision to caution Fernando Torres, and was then shown a second yellow card himself. Mascherano will definitely miss Sunday's Merseyside derby at Anfield. Liverpool's next two Premier League games are against Arsenal and Blackburn. I'm glad something is being done about it, it was very poor behavior on his part. If he thought the ref had got something wrong, he should have just kept his mouth shut.
davieG Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 When the FS/Refs show some consistency to this berating of Referees then I'll say well done until then this reacting on a whim does them no good in my eyes. When I see the likes of Terry, Gerrard, Rooney and co get their due punishment that's when I'll say well done, until then I'll view it as window dressing.
Smiffy Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 A very small step towards solving a very big problem. But like davieG said, will they do the same to the Premier League wonder boys?
Manwell Pablo Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 I think its bollocks personally, you could lip read he simply asked why Fernando Torres had been booked and I don't see why asking an offical why a descion has been made as decent, disagreeing is decent. Ok he was contesting a few descions, sending off maybe. All this additional bollocks, save it for JT and Lampard they contest everything

You can talk, talk, talk all you want about cracking down on indiscipline on the pitch and bemoan the prima donna players that think they're bigger than the game; but until you're going to do something about it, you've not much right to have a hissy. Good on the ref, tbh. Mascherano hadn't shut up all game, he was lip, lip, lip, he'd put in a silly challenge and been rightfully booked and the ref had clearly had enough. It's not even like he'd been near-by at all, he chose to come skipping up from half the half away and have a yap having just seen Torres be booked for exactly the same. Now that's just a level of complete stupidity I can't relate to. I like Andy Gray normally but I totally disagreed with him, Redknap had it right. I'd like to add to that that I thought the Torres booking was a bit over the top, I felt he got up and fairly calmly addressed the referee.
Raj Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 Mascerphone was a twat. He should be banned for 17 games and Rafa too.... Infact Liverpool should be disbanded and Leicester take their place. fcuking scousers!

sdb Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008 he was a complete tool but shouldn't be made an example of. at least one of the top 4 are getting punished though.
Raj Posted 26 March 2008 Posted 26 March 2008  Steady on, Raj! BAN THEM FOREVER!!!!! I detest Liverpool(may have noticed!) But i love you Finnegan.

I'm with the Finster, but it has to be a policy applied to all players every single game. Gobby overpaid little shits, **** the lot of them.

Totally agree with that - including your comment about Gray. It's not often I disagree with the guy and sometimes its good to hear someone stand up for robust football but Mascherano deserves everything he gets. Especially for letting his team-mates down.

How the hell is disagreeing with the Referee decent? I ment desent.
The People's Hero Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 If this was being done correctly and across the board, John Terry would be sent off in the first half EVERY game.

Are the F.A now going to take the same action out against Ashley Cole for his little tantrem against Spurs, and all the other Chelsea players who hound these poor hard done by Referee's. Cant see this happening to any Manchester United players or coaching staff to be honest.

Tevez Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 Was there any point to argue with the ref 20 yards away when it had nothing to do with him?
Uncle Albert Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 Was there any point to argue with the ref 20 yards away when it had nothing to do with him? Yes. You are a team and a team sticks together, especially when he is seeing a player getting booked for nothing.
