MrsJohnMurphy Posted 2 April 2008 Posted 2 April 2008 I'm confused why do Radio 1 edit the word "ass" out of the Nickleback song as in "dress my ass in the latest fashion", yet leave it in on the Scouting for Girls bilge they're currently playing which goes "she's a pain in the ass" ? However Radio 2 edit it out of the Scouting for Girls track !!
Daggers Posted 2 April 2008 Posted 2 April 2008 I wasn't aware Radio 1 existed anymore - I thought they closed it down as a mark of respect to John Peel. If they didn't they should have.

Corky Posted 2 April 2008 Posted 2 April 2008 It can't have been in the Chris Moyles Show, because that plays no music, just him talking and playing awful jingles.

They should edit all the words and music out of that record.
Daggers Posted 2 April 2008 Posted 2 April 2008 They should edit all the words and pictures out of Chris Moyles. Harsh, but fair.
Lovejoy Posted 2 April 2008 Posted 2 April 2008 And why the **** do they censor 'drug dealer' Does the Nickelback song have ANY words left?
Alexikokopops Posted 2 April 2008 Posted 2 April 2008 MrsJohnMurphy, is that Bonnie Prince Billy I spy in your avatar?
MrsJohnMurphy Posted 3 April 2008 Author Posted 3 April 2008 MrsJohnMurphy, is that Bonnie Prince Billy I spy in your avatar? Correctamundo!! A godlike genius if ever there was oneGodlike Genuis
hairy Posted 7 April 2008 Posted 7 April 2008 I thought the record companys did the editing. Which would explain.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 April 2008 Posted 7 April 2008 Hairy shoots... HE SCORES!!! Indeed - the record company decides what will be risque or not. It does beg the question though - for single releases why do they even bother putting swearwords in the first place. The Nickelback song is a good example where stuff has been bleeped in practically every sentence. Gold Digger by Kanye West was another example (also having quite mild words deleted) Tis a silly thing!
MrsJohnMurphy Posted 8 April 2008 Author Posted 8 April 2008 So the word "faggot" was edited out of Fairytale of New York by the record company then?
The Reverend Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 I'm confused why do Radio 1 edit the word "ass" out of the Nickleback song as in "dress my ass in the latest fashion", yet leave it in on the Scouting for Girls bilge they're currently playing which goes "she's a pain in the ass" ?However Radio 2 edit it out of the Scouting for Girls track !! And why the **** do they censor 'drug dealer' This is a point picked up upon by myself and someone else a few weeks back. It's irritating more than anything.
hairy Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 So the word "faggot" was edited out of Fairytale of New York by the record company then? That was released before record companys twigged on to doing radio edits. You buy a CD single now and usually one of the tracks is a radio edit. Its a way of 'filling' the CD without having to record any new stuff therefore cheaper. Fairytale is from when faggots were pigs organs made into meat balls.
sdb Posted 9 April 2008 Posted 9 April 2008 They should edit all the words and music out of that record. they're successfully fooling another generation that they're cool - it's painful to watch
