Hackneyisblue Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 An Irish left back with a tidy free kick on him will be present at pre-season training for us today, I just wonder who it is. Harte or Sheehan? Ian Harte please with Sheehan as understudy (he has a lot to learn).
Thracian Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 Personally, I don't think Clapham was as appalling as made out but we will need a left-back with both Mattock and Sheehan rumoured to be departing. I wouldn't say no to Jon Harley, also available on a free, as worth a look. Clapham wasn't appalling he was neat, tidy but of no particular consequence. Why we keep courting such players when what we need are people with the speed/energy to get forward in support and the skill/desire to make things happen I don't know.

[/qu Agreed, I thought Clapham did a decent job, he was very cool under pressure and generally found the space to deliver a ball out of defence. He's not what I would want when attempting promotion though. Hopefully Ian Harte may be that man. He's a bit slow though isn't he?

Collymore Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 Not sure if this has been posted - but a sunderland fan told me that the reason Harte was released was because he was allegedly caught smoking a class A drug in the changing rooms with some other players (who were also released... )
MC Prussian Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 Hmm... Would still be a good addition to a young squad. Captain's armband, anyone?
SamL Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 http://www.leedsunited.com/page/NewsroomDe...3~1336513,00.htlooks like harte then I think Ric knew it was Harte before he posted.
MC Prussian Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 This should make the two Leeds fixtures even more interesting...

Hackneyisblue Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 I doubt that, surely footballers are not stupid enough to do that. Nobody would deny that some players are as daft as co* fans BUT not in the changing room surely?
sham Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 WATFORD are set to sign former Leeds full-back Ian Harte. SOURCE
Thracian Posted 2 July 2008 Posted 2 July 2008 What would your thoughts be on Ian Harte? Not sure he'd want to drop down to our level but a glance at his recent record suggests he's on the slippery slope. It worries me that Keane has clearly seen enough of him. There will be reasons for that and I'd back Keane as a good judge. Pity in some ways. But on balance I'd pass.

jonw88 Posted 14 July 2008 Posted 14 July 2008 http://www.wolves.premiumtv.co.uk/page/New...1343732,00.html Seems like Harte is on trial for a fortnight with wolves, seems like he's too good for league 1 and we'll miss out on this one. Btw wolves have just signed Iwelumo, how many feckin' strikers do they need?! I know they've just sold eastwood but still have far too many, maybe we could take one off their hands, Bothroyd anyone?
Ultra Posted 14 July 2008 Posted 14 July 2008 Yes, he judged the tackle on Alf Inge Haaland to perfection And of course that was by far the most notable achievement of Keane's playing career. Let's forget all the league titles he won. Shame we don't have winners like that at Leicester.
Milky Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 ian harte is training at wolves hahahahahaha Watch it u!
Daggers Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 ian harte is training at wolves hahahahahaha How's your pre-season going?

Let's forget all the league titles he won.Shame we don't have winners like that at Leicester. 1) It's what I'll remember him for - it was a premditated act of thuggery to break another man's leg and end his career. If you're happy to accept that in football good for you. 2) He played for Manchester United alongside internationals galore. Not sure if you can spot the difference between the two clubs but Leicester aren't gonna get league title winners for some time matey.

I will always consider Roy Keane as Scum for what he did to Halaand - plenty of winners out there not all of them have to resort to that
billyfox1 Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 i know this one is pretty dead now but has anyone heard if he has signed for wolves yet, his trial should have finished by now
SamL Posted 30 July 2008 Posted 30 July 2008 i know this one is pretty dead now but has anyone heard if he has signed for wolves yet, his trial should have finished by now Mick McCarthy will make a decision on the future of Wolves trialist Ian Harte after Saturday's pre-season friendly with Blackburn.Ian is now into his third week at Wolves and having enjoyed various bits of game time at left back last night played 75 minutes in the centre of midfield during the friendly win at Walsall. Although initially unwilling to put a timescale on the former Leeds man's stay, Mick knows he will have to make a decision after the final first team friendly before the Championship season kicks off at Plymouth on Saturday week. "I'm going to have to give Ian a decision by the weekend," said Mick."He'll probably be involved against Blackburn and I'll let him know then. "His attitude is first class - he's come in and played at left back but then he did alright in the centre of midfield last night. "It's good to be a utility player and he can certainly handle the ball." Ian has been playing catch-up in terms of fitness having arrived when Wolves were already a fortnight into their structured pre-season preparations. But Mick believes he has certainly closed the gap. "Hartey's a couple of weeks behind the rest of them in terms of his fitness but he's done well," the boss added. "He came in to train with lads who were flying at the end of last season and then came back flying after the summer. "He was out of his team at the end of last season but he got through 75 minutes in the middle of the park of a real competitive game last night so he'll get up to speed no problem. "Everybody likes him, he's a great lad and has fitted in really well. "We'll see what happens at the weekend." From the Wolves OS.
