MikeyT Posted 23 April 2008 Posted 23 April 2008 Mattock will be sold in the summer, whatever league we're in.Harte wouldn't be a bad replacement, certainly better than Clapham. Can i ask whats wrong with Clapham? Every game ive seen him play hes bee very steady. Has barely put a foot wrong since his arrival! Baring in mind as well that Ian Harte is rarely playing these days so im guessing your basing your opinion on his form from his Leeds United days, which was years ago now!
jumbo mills Posted 24 April 2008 Posted 24 April 2008 Ian harte, it said in the sunday people he is on the way to swansea
Fox 4 Life Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 Championship pair Swansea City and Watford plus League One Leicester are believed to be chasing Republic of Ireland full-back Ian Harte. The 30-year-old is available on a free transfer after being released by Sunderland at the end of last season. He made just eight Premier League appearances for the Black Cats after moving to the Stadium of Light last summer from Levante. Harte is on the look-out for a new club and it is believed the Foxes, Hornets and Swans all hold an interest. The former Leeds United defender is now waiting to discover if any of his suitors come up with a firm offer for next season. http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...3754309,00.html
Father Ted Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 I'd have him too... but yet again the question is can we beat off Championship competition?
Uncle Albert Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 Why do we want some 30 year old reject? It would be like having Clapham again.
General Smuts Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 Why do we want some 30 year old reject? It would be like having Clapham again. Harte is undoubtebly much better than Clapham. Id take him herebut very few other old bells with there arms out collecting cheques.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 I'd out take him if Sheehan wants out. And, of course, providing Mattock leaves.
MC Prussian Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 Would be a very good signing on this level, but I'm pretty sure he'll choose Championship clubs over us. Also, I'm afraid he could become just another high-profile signing with little to none impact at LCFC. It's a sad world, playing in League One...
Babylon Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 Why do we want some 30 year old reject? It would be like having Clapham again. Maybe you haven't noticed, we got relegated.
Joe. Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 This hardly inspires me to be honest. I think we should be looking for a younger, more attacking full back and not some 30-something has-been.
Candidcamera Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 It all depends whether he can still compete and whether he wants to make it at City. I would prefer the type of hungry player MON went for.
MikeyT Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 Why do we want some 30 year old reject? It would be like having Clapham again. I personally thought Clapham did a steady job here. Rarely put a foot wrong imo.
dandannieldanok Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 I personally thought Clapham did a steady job here. Rarely put a foot wrong imo. Agreed, surprised we didn't offer him a year's contract for League One, especially with Mattock likely to leave.
MPH Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 I'd have him too... but yet again the question is can we beat off Championship competition? depends whats more important to him - games in a higher division or a regular first team spot. If the champ teams can offer him both then he wont be coming here. if they only offer him the fisrt then we have a chance.
davieG Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 depends whats more important to him - games in a higher division or more money a regular first team spot. If the champ teams can offer him both then he wont be coming here. if they only offer him the fisrt then we have a chance. The second option then.
breadandcheese Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 Personally, I don't think Clapham was as appalling as made out but we will need a left-back with both Mattock and Sheehan rumoured to be departing. I wouldn't say no to Jon Harley, also available on a free, as worth a look.
dandannieldanok Posted 29 June 2008 Posted 29 June 2008 I wouldn't say no to Jon Harley, also available on a free, as worth a look. Didn't know he was available on a free, we should definitely make a move but surely he could get an offer from the Championship.
Daggers Posted 30 June 2008 Posted 30 June 2008 Why do we want some 30 year old reject? It would be like having Clapham again. Yup. A player living on past glories - not interested in him at all (apart from his free-kick abilities)

Ric Flair Posted 1 July 2008 Posted 1 July 2008 An Irish left back with a tidy free kick on him will be present at pre-season training for us today, I just wonder who it is. Harte or Sheehan?
