DB11 Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Henderson 8 Stearman 4 McAuley 6 Kisnorbo 6 Clapham 6 Bell 7 Weso 7 Oakley 7 Hayles 6 Hume 7 before penalty miss then his confidence went and 5 afterwards Howard 5
moseeds Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 I don't think there's any point trying to calculate a score per player: The Good (ish) Henderson - Great save, didn't actually have many shots to stop but dealt well with crosses, etc. Really poor kicking at times though. I get the feeling the route one football was intructed by the manager because he was still doing it in in the 2nd half even though the slug like pace of hayles was no match for a flying ball. Stearman - Actually cared. Wanted to attack. In the process of doing the midfield's job left big gaps but someone has to want to run at the opposition. Unfortunately its our right back. You would have thought if bell decided he couldn't play right wing he would try and cover stearman's butt. Weso - Still rusty but was the only midfielder that looked present. Made mistakes but was trying. Hume - Ok missed a penalty. Wanted to win, wanted the ball but I get the feeling he wasn't keen on running 50 yards in any direction but the one he was currently standing in to collect the ball. How many times was he forced to chase ridiculously poor passes? I knew he would be tired within 30 minutes the Wednesday defence had that sussed too. The Bad Defence - 2 modes of passing. Sideways or hoof. Midfield - Ball flying past their collective heads. Completely outplayed by Wednesday. Might as well have been getting ready for the awards ceremony. Oakley did somewhat ok. Hayles - In the first half spent more time at left back. Few suspicious moments before the penalty. Second half was the most pointless display of attacking play I have seen for a long time. Ineffectual means the person tried but failed. This was not even ineffectual it was absent. Howard - Just didn't seem to want to play. Manager I think the best part of 30,000 people managed to notice the wrong choice of strikeforce. It's not Bruno's fault he is slow, it's the manager's fault for sticking him into a backline that moves like a snail. There was no wingplay and any wingplay there was came from Stearman mostly. The chips are down so we defaulted to hoofball. Wednesday even in their predicament were made to look like Brazil with their passing and moving, pace and hunger. I think that says everything.
Lovejoy Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Henderson 7.5 Good penalty save Stearman 6.5 looked creative, but is shockingly unaware of what is going on at the back McAuley 6 Part of a slow, fragile back line Kisnorbo - Clapham 5 Not great Bell 7 One of the better players imo Oakley 5.5 Is he really that bothered? Wesolowski 7 He DID look bothered Hayles 3 Hume 7.5 Good performance, but awful penalty Howard 5 lost, missed a sitter N'Gotty 4 Too old, should retire tbh Fryatt 4 No effect as usual Campbell 4 Can't/won't score!
Thracian Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Henderson 7.75 (Excellent penalty save which offered us such a wonderful reprieve and generally played his part soundly and without serious fault). Stearman 7.25 (Tried so hard and stayed on at the end to say sorry to the fans. No, not everything worked for him but he was always looking to make things happen, always making the effort to support and I don't think he let the shirt down one bit). McAuley 5 (Failed to stay on his feet when being turned for their first goal and simply failed to form an effective unit with N'Gotty). Kisnorbo 6 (Sound as always until his injury and how we missed his presence. His absence had a major impact on the game). Clapham 4 (I honestly cannot think of anything good to say about the guy. Wednesday targetted him as a weakness and with good reason while in possession and in attack he offered nothing) Bell 6.75 (With Stearman he was creatively our best hope of a goal. Delivered any number of decent crosses but aimed far too many at Howard and that is always the problem when you play with a big line leader. Acceptable all round contribution. Weso 6.75 (Competitive and positive. Like Stearman, not everything came off but he did try to make things happen and he did win his fair share of possession in midfield. One or two touches too many at times and the wrong choice of pass as well sometimes let him down). Oakley 6 (Alright but again didn't have the dynamic impact I expect from a key midfielder and failed to take his half-chances). Hayles 3 (Inexplicable hands for the penalty. I've seen him in bit parts mostly but a near full game had me thinking what's he for? No apparent tactical or space awareness, lousy first touch, unconvincing runs. Everything about him made me think it was time he retired). Hume 7.75 (Opening goal, might well have won a penalty and a nightmare for the Wednesday defence. Yes his penalty miss was careless and might eventually prove the key to sending us down but there was no doubting his commitment to the cause and Holloway's inexplicable stupidity in taking him off). Howard 5 (Won a few balls in the air and directed a few lay-offs for half chances but generally slow, cumbersome and easy to contain). Subs: N'Gotty 4 (Worst game I've seen him play). DJ and Fryatt (Not worth marking) Holloway 0 (You wonder if one or two players might let you down on big days and people on here have mentioned the risk of fielding inexperienced youngsters in vital games but it was Holloway who really let us down. His choice of team didn't address our known weaknesses, his tactics when we got ahead gave Wednesday a lifeline, our three strikers played too narrow, his substitutions were made too late and taking Hume off was unforgiveable in the circumstances. And that's only for starters.).
Leicester Lass Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 McAuley 5 (Why the hell he handled for the penalty - at least I think it was him - I've no idea. I thought he might be sent off. Failed to stay on his feet when being turned for their first goal and simply failed to form an effective unit with N'Gotty). It was Hayles
Fez of Mahrez Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 McAuley 5 (Why the hell he handled for the penalty - at least I think it was him - I've no idea. I thought he might be sent off. stevie909 Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Henderson - 7 - Great penalty save, but made an absolute clown of himself with the third. Stearman - 7 - Played with desire and drive, yet was still weak in defence on occasion. Kisnorbo - 7 - Solid as always. Until he goes and gets injured... Mcauley - 5 - Hoofed it as always, and was generally wildly out of position. Clapham - 6 - Started well, yet offered so much less than mattock. Bell - 7 - Our best player in my opinion, yet we relied on him too much, not looking for other options. Weso - 7 - Like Stearman, he played with hunger, and did not benefit with the players aroud him. Oakley - 5 - Ineffectual. Hayles - 5 - See above. Looks old, and the skill we have seen in the last few games was non- existent. Hume - 7 - Took his goal well, and on another day could have scored 2 or 3. Shame about the pen. Howard - 5 - Didnt offer much, but to be fair won a few good headers. Subs: N'Gotty - 4 - Slow, outnumbered, and generally left isolated in key areas. Campbell/Fryatt - N/A Ollie - 2 Fans - 11
reynard Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Henderson 7 Can't really be faulted and his 3rd penalty save this season.Shame it couldn't inspire the others. Clapham 5 Not as bad as some say and looks the ok standard for div 1. Mccauley 4 Not great. Kisnorbo n/a last game for city?? Stearman 5 ok but if only he could cross or shoot the result may have been different. Hayles 2 What a waste of time. A pet this past it would be put down. crap. weso 4 Completely overrated. Makes the odd tackle that is about it. Never produces anything constructive. oakley 4 mr invisible. As before Mr.average and always will be. Bell 5 Not very good really. A lot of running but his corners are very poor and he hardly ever puts in a decent cross. Looks a division 1 level player so there is hope for next season. Hume 6 Played hard but sulks too easily. last home game for him if Holloway stays? Howard 3 Simply past it. Could be ok in div 1. N'gotty 4 has been a great credit to the game but now simply past it. poor today.
Mikey Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Hendo - 7 - Did well, saved a penalty again. Stearman - 6 - Did Ok defensively, but gave the ball away far too often. Mcauley - 5 - Tackle and hoof. Kisnorbo - N/A Crumbled after he went though. Clapham - 5 - Poor. Bell -6.5 - Looked dangerous on the ball but just put a cross in!!! Oakley - 7 - Was energetic and did well. Weso - 8 - Was everywhere. Bossed the midfield most of the time. Barry - 6 - Looked off the pace today and needlessly handled it. Howard - 5 Hume - 7 - Did well, took his goal brilliantly. Missed penalty. Subs: Bruno 5

Daggers Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Stearman 7Wesolowski 7 Hume 7 I'll go for that. Everyone else - gash.
Calum McDermott Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 I knew that hume was not going to score that penalty as soon as he picked up the ball he looked asif he was not going to score. I dont think any of the players would have stuck it away but its simple you have to hit the target no excuses.
Chimp Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 [snip] Yeah, I'd agree mostly with those ratings, but, I'd knock off an extra 3 points from everyone in the team for their complete mental capitulation once Sheff Weds had equalised. There's not a man amongst them... for which Holloway is to blame.
teblin Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Hendo - 7 - Been good snce he came back into the side. Stearman - 6 - Ok, though should've put a better ball in just before the wednesday equqliser. Mcauley - 6 Average Kisnorbo - Was having a decent game until he went off. Clapham - 5 - One paced. Bell -7- Played well in all games he's played since he's been here. Oakley - 7 - I thought him and weso did aright Weso - 8 - Best game i have seen him have for a long long time. Barry - 4 - Poor should'vve been taken off earlier than he was. Howard - 5.5 Won alot of balls in the air, made a bit of a scape goat, buit still not good enought at the minute. His miss was as bad as the pen Hume - 7 Played really well fist half, good finish, but you have to at least hit the target on a pen. once he's missed that his head went.

dandannieldanok Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Henderson 7 (Dealt with crosses well, good penalty save AGAIN, could have done more for the third but the rest of the defense had gave up on it) Stearman 6 (Decent in attack but lacked the killer ball unsurprisingly for a defender, distribution was either good or terrible) Kisnorbo N/A (sorely missed) McAuley 4 (Without Kisnorbo to cover his errors, he numerous weaknesses were exposed) Clapham 4 (Simply too slow both in defence and attack, no glaring errors) Bell 4 (His set-pieces created a few chances but lacked real quality, also seemed to lack the same confidence to take on his defender, generally disappointing) Oakley 4 (Adds no more to the team than Stephen Hughes did, passing was sideways and never got a grip of the game) Wesolowski 5 (Effort was there but doesn't have a killer pass in him to unlock a defence, his actions were too predictable) Hayles 2 (From the sublime to the ridiculous, touch was poor, reactions were awful and simply showed his age, an unbelievable contrast from last week) Hume 6 (Constantly unsettled their defence in the first half but not getting the penalty even on target was unforgivable) Howard 1 (Useless, what a waste of money ) N'Gotty 3 (Given the runaround all game, looked completely lost) Campbell N/A Fryatt N/A
Ultra Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Henderson - 8*. Did his job well enough, shame the rest of the team didn't do theirs. Stearman - 5 . Some decent tackles, passing and crossing was dire though. Should have saved the showboating until we were 3-0 up. Kisnorbo - 7. A sad loss, and we won't even be able to sell him. McAuley - 5. Equally inept in defence or attack. Clapham - 4. Wednesday knew how dire he was last week, even if Holloway didn't. Bell - 6. Tried hard, but looks a League 1 player. Will feel more at home next season. Wesolowski - 6. Some good challenges, but too often overran. Oakley - 4. We needed another Steve Walsh out there. What we got was another Stephen Clemence. He hasn't exactly advanced in leaps and bounds under this manager. Hayles - 4. As dire today as he was sublime last week. Clearly isn't up to 90 minutes these days and should have been taken off much earlier. Hume - 6. Worth an 8 in the first half and a 4 in the second. Horrendously unprofessional with the penalty. Howard - 5. Kept going, but to little effect. N'Gotty - 5. There were many out there far more worthy of scapegoat status than him. Fryatt - 4. Lived down to expectations. Campbell - 4. See above. Holloway - 0. Even by his own debased standards, this was a tactical display of stunning ineptitude. Why did he move Hume to the wing? And why did he not have Sappleton on the bench? Fans - 9. Superb, though those who chanted for Fryatt (for which I took a mark off) will get what they deserve..
Dames Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Heh, Hate to say it. But now everyone should know why McAuley is a league 2 defender at best. God i wish we sold him when we had the chance.
lavrentis Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Henderson - 6 - Good save on the penalty turning out to be false hope. Stearman - 6 - Good run into the box but it lead to there goal. Kisnorbo - 6 - Good, bad injury though. McAuley - 6 - Hoofed his balls out. Clapham - 5 - Was ok.. Bell - 6 - Few balls into the box Weso - 7 - Effort was good, some passing might need to improve though. Oakley - 6 - Did alright Hayles - 6 - Effort from Barry, wasn't his best game. I shook his hand though before the game. Howard - 3 - Slooooooowwww Hume - 6 - Good effort and well taken goal. Why did you miss the penalty? Subs: N'Gotty - 4 - As soon as he came on I knew we would be in trouble. Fryatt and Campbell - 4 - Please leave Leicester Ollie - 2 - Why take Hume off? The fans were excellent IMO, Kop was really good.
Corky Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Henderson- 7: Made a crucial penalty save, caught every cross, had no chance with any of the goals. Stearman- 6: Some good runs, got forward well, but let their number 36 have too much space. Only one who seemed to care at the end. Kisnorbo- N/A McAuley- 4: Struggled without Kisnorbo next to him. Not his best display. Clapham- 5: Not brilliant, steady though. Bell- 6: Made some good runs, tried too many clever skills. Oakley- 5: Poor. Wesolowski- 6: Did okay, got stuck in, overran on a few occasions. Hayles- 5: Gave away a soft penalty, tried hard. Hume- 7: Ran all day, scored a good goal, never gave up, shame about the penalty. Howard- 2: Did nothing, stood still. Very poor. Subs- N'Gotty- 4: Struggled all match. Fryatt- 3: Did nothing of note. Campbell- 3: Same as Fryatt. Holloway- 2: Made odd substitutions, taking Hume off instead of Howard. Why?
Aeropars Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 I cant be arsed to note all the players..... what I will say is that managerial ineptitude again was at the heart of the matter. We made a change close onto 75 minutes, well after when it was needed. When the changes did come then why the hell was hume taken off?? If howard did his job well then i could understand it but he was clearly not playing well and didnt give a fook! SO holloway leaves him on and takes off our most lovely and dangerous striker... genious. I've been to Bristol, and they are all inbred! What a twat...
bigneville Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Henderson - 8 - No chance with any of the goals, looked assured and did what he could, including a quality penalty save and an assist for the Hume goal. Stearman - 6.5 - Such a contrasting performance from minute to minute, at times made quality defensive tackles, and great forward runs. Then at times got caught out of position, and looked out of his depth. One thing you can't doubt for me is his commitment. Kisnorbo - 6 - Didn't do too much in his time on the pitch, good or bad. But it was terribly noticeable how important he is to the side after his departure. McCauley - 6.5 - Dealt with most things in the air, and tried to lead the back line, although with little success. Looked trouble by Deon Burton at all times. Clapham - 6 - His main problem is his lack of pace, and against a tricky pacey winger from Wednesday, was in trouble from the outset. Definetly feel Mattock could have done better in the situation. Bell - 6 - How long does it take this bloke to deliver a cross into the box? When he runs from deep he looks a threat, but in the final third, where he should be doing his best work, was poor. Oakley - 7 - Worked hard, covered a lot of ground. Put himself about and looked like he had the quality to affect the outcome, but never did. Wesolowski - 7.5 - Again, worked hard and covered lots of ground. Tried to stamp his authority on the midfield, and was constantly looking to get forward and get the ball wide. One of our best players today Hayles - 4 - Poor today, defensively wasn't too bad as he tried hard, but offered nothing going forward at all. Needless penalty given away. Wasn't a good day for Bazza. Howard - 5 - Dominated aerially, but without delivering any danger. Missed crucial chances. Not good enough. Hume - 7 - A constant threat to the Wednesday backline, well taken goal. Showed great effort and commitment to the cause. Head went down after penalty miss, but never given the chance to make up for this. Subs N'Gotty - 5 - Was outclassed by the Wednesday forward line, looked troubled at all times, worst performance i've seen in a city shirt from him Fryatt - 6 - Came on and played deep??? Explain that... Campbell - 5 - Did he actually touch the ball? Manager Holloway - 2 - Had one plan and no back up plan. Laws made him look tactically anept, like many have done this season. Can't fault his enthaustism, but his subsitutions where poor, his tactics where poor, and it then followed onto the team. Should have acted earlier than than the 75th minute. Has he got it in him to deliver something special at Stoke? Big question.
renards Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Henderson - 7 - Great penalty save and relatively secure, but was in no-mans land for the killer.Stearman - 7 - Worked tremendously hard, got into the box a few times but was wasteful. Struggled against Slusarski, who gave them great width and we failed to deal with it as a team. Kisnorbo - 6 - Wasn't having a great game but was solid as ever before he went off. McAuley - 6 - Distribution continues to be pathetic but was alright at the back. Clapham - 6 - Was caught out a few times, and was poor in the air by not getting any distance on his headers. Bell - 6 - He did okay, but despite his trickery, he didn't really get many good balls into the box. Weso - 8 - Thought he was fantastic today. He gave it his all and didn't deserve to lose. Do Do Dooo Jimbo Wesolowski! Oakley - 7 - His best game for over a month, can't really fault him today. Hayles - 6 - Didn't really do much, but did his best. Gave away the penalty, but he already knew it would be saved, so was just preventing Bullen from scoring using any means neccesary. Good old Baz. Howard - 5 - Won a lot of flick-ons but went to no-one. Too slow to get in the box and missed 2 guilt edge chances in either half. Hume - 7 - Hassled their defence and had them rattled in the first half. Second half he moved out wide. The most ludicrous tactical switch that has been made this season in my opinion. Ollie got it horribly wrong again by taking him off. Subs: N'Gotty - 5 - Won a lot in the air but just doesn't fill me with confidence. Paddy was a huge miss, and the game turned on his injury. Fryatt and Campbell - Ineffective and generally useless. Thought DJ should have had a penalty but maybe he dived. Thought Ollie got it wrong again by putting Fryatt on, but can see why he brought DJ on. Ollie - Very poor decisions today and he's really starting to worry me. The fans were excellent until after their 3rd goal. In F1 we never gave up on them, and I'm sure it was the same in L1 and other parts of the kop. Only starting??!!! Under statement of the year
Candidcamera Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Again we were tactically inept so starting with the manager - Holloway 1 (well he did play Hume) Henderson 8 Best I've seen him play Stears 8 good enough for Premiership McAuley 5 (didn't really make enough effort) N'Gotty 5 Clapham 5.5 tries hard Weso 8 great battling performance - perhaps a few more from the youth set up, please) Oakley 6 tried hard Hayles 4 (out of position - poor first touch- panicks in defence. Hume 8 only one to score, again. Looked tired tho'. Howard 2 Bell 6 good but not good enough yesterday. Best wishes to Kisnorbo - we missed you badly.
