I must admit, since I got married, I have rarely gone to a curry house, the mrs's food is far more impressive and alot more healthier\cheaper!! If you were to ask me to recommend a curry place in Leicester i wouldn't really know, although 'r-code' is highly recommended by many I know!!

The only place I go to eat punjabi\indian food is 'The Sportsman Bar' in West Brom, all the food is 'tandoored'\'Charcoal grilled', it's proper authetic, it's healthy and for price is amazing. there curries are also excellent, proper punjabi food from a proper chef, non of this balti\curry house wank these days!!

TK Balti on Greenlane Road. I assume it is a Muslim-run establishment as they do not serve alcohol. (However, you can buy it from teh off license accross the road, and take it in with you. The same guy then serves you the food!) Food is always good, always a laugh, staff are pleasant and as you take your own drink with you, usually by the can, you don't get raped for the price of a beer. All time favourite place.

Othe rthan that, the only one worth mentioning in Poppadom's on Welford Road. Just a good laugh and cheap!

The Singh - can I come round yours one day for some food and beer?

I'd be happy to weat a turban. In fact, I'd be thrilled to!

No need for the Turban mate, but your welcome anytime!! The Mrs is a cracking cook, her tandoori chicken wings and lamb curry is excellent!!

The only condition is that you will have to watch my wedding dvd with the kids and answer 'who's who's' on the dvd!!!

Yeah, sh*t is big on the menu in my part of town.

You’ll have to come and sample some the local delights. It's quite the treat.

I love lamb curry - my standard order is a lamb dopiaza. In fact, I really like the one I make, but that's just to my own taste, I'm sure your wife's is fantastic.

Serious question, would it be an insult to your faith if others were to wear a turban because I suppose it's a symbol of a certain faith ?

I've always meant to learn more about religion but never have done. I'm lazy.

It depends on why your waering a turban, my cousin got married, his best man was a 'white' guy, he and his brothers all wore turbans during the ceremony!! If your out to take the piss then that would be offensive!!

If your genuinely curious, then maybe if we get the chance I will tie one on for you!!!

The turban is one of the 5k's of Sikhism, although not mandatroy, many non baptised SIkhs do still wear it!!

The Taraj Palace is the best one in Syston at the moment and I've also had a good meal at Ashoka on the Melton Rd though the portions were a bit small.

Another one I tried recently was 'Feast India' also on the Melton Rd, £13.95 all you can eat with a good selection of Indian and Chinese food.

Tried that and there weren't enough different curries for my liking...

Don't think I have had a better curries than from 'The Tamarind' on Hinckley Road or 'The Jewel in the Crown' in Wigston.

However, most Saturday nights me and the lads usually end up in 'The Shamim' (everyone calls it the Shamin) on Woodgate.... which is a 50 yard stagger to my front door

You're having a laugh, aren't you, Robbo? Namaste (other side of the road, 50 yards up) is loads better, I reckon.

Rise of the Raj on Evington Road does everything pretty well, and Harmony on Belgrave Road (not to be confused with the similarly named sex shop on London Road is GREAT

R:code is horrid.... I went there with my girlfriend the other week. It was more of a bar than a restaurant. It was full of rough looking blokes, who had no manners and were generally chavish. They all seemed like regulars as they knew the asian lad in charge. The people in there made me think they were serving more than curry... if you know what I mean.

Best curry house... Friends Tandoori has never been beaten as far as i'm concerned.

The Grand Durbar on Melton Road is a favorite of mine although like robbo said we usually end up in the shamin more often than not.

Shimla Pinks is the single worst restaurant i have been in my life , food was rubbish , service shocking and to top it all of they put 15% on the bill as a service charge !

the Tamarind and Namaste are owned by the same people, but the chef is better at namaste from what i've heard!!

R-Code has gone well down hill form what i have heard, the old crow's nest lot and Richmond lot come in!! It use to be quite family orientated, Ranj who's the owner is too nice i'm afriad and can't get rid of the rabble, considering most of his profits are made from his restaurant!!!

Friends and Grand Durbar, are well established joints and have been around for a long while, so the food would be of sufficient quality for a curry house!!
