Cobbo Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 Your mum's time was bloody brilliant as well. She is also a (slightly older) running machine. They show me up!! I am contemplating a 10k (2 at a push) this summer.

Cobbo Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 I will be travelling from Oz to NZ that day. Well don't be sad about that haha! This is the one I am likely to be doing.

Bellend Sebastian Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 Brother (22) did it in: 1.26.55Mum (54) did it in: 2.06.00 Bloody hell, I only ran the Leicester Half 7 minutes faster than your mum. I reckon I'm going to get myself a Nokia N79. Nokia's Sports Tracker app does route plotting, and you can buy a special Polar chest strap and use it as a heart rate monitor. It also has an FM transmitter so you can listen to Mp3s on your car stereo. Sexy
James. Posted 10 May 2009 Author Posted 10 May 2009 Got another 10km under my belt today. 57 minutes so getting quicker each time. Still had something left in the tank at the end, could probably have pushed on at a similar pace for another 15-20 minutes or so. Pretty pleased with that, since last Saturday have done about 41km. Need to get stuck into hill training at the gym in midweek though. Ugh.
Granno Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 I need to hit the training before the FT 6 a side otherwise I'll be spent after about 20 seconds.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 8.5 km today in 48 minutes ish. Christ, it was hard work. Need to get some longer runs under my belt
Guest Posted 11 May 2009 Posted 11 May 2009 Today I went for a swim, as I have neglected to stretch properly the last few weeks, and now have a very tight hamstring I really don't know how people manage more than 15-20 minutes. It is so boring. I am never ever going to do a triathlon.

Plus, I do not think I could make myself do 10k alone..

Guest Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 You can get it for around £100 (new) on eBay It's well worth the money. This is the front page of the system You can get more information than that, but I don't really expect to ever run at 200km/h!!
The Reverend Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Bought a pair of these today. So the journey begins.....

Monk Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 Had a crap 4 mile run this evening racing the planes taking off from city airport. My right calf muscle is pretty painful at the moment - so susceptible to injury!

Monk Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 when I say race, I mean run past them while they are stationary and kinda lose while they are taking off. It's really nice down there in the evening - lots of rowers and kayakers in the dock - watching the small planes take off and land while running is pretty cool.
Guest Posted 14 May 2009 Posted 14 May 2009 On a night shift again tonight, gonna try and squeeze a few miles in on my lunch break round Embankment
The Reverend Posted 16 May 2009 Posted 16 May 2009 I'm actually considering getting one of those Garmin 305's. Just the price is puttung me off. Someone sell it to me!
