Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 15 July 2009 Posted 15 July 2009 I went running today for the first time as it is summer holidays for me now and i feel the need to get fit. Went around through the park a couple of times and all around the village so must have done at least a couple of miles. I know its not great but every little at a time.

I started running when I realised I couldn't even run to the end of the street, and last year I ran a half marathon. Sounds like you're starting from a better position than I did. If you don't run a marathon next year I will be very disappointed in you

I am going to try and go every day except weekends so thats 6 weeks worth of 5 days so i should get fairly good. But i very much doubt a marathon though sorry.
James. Posted 16 July 2009 Author Posted 16 July 2009 Did my first sub 50 minute 10km yesterday on the treadmill. 49 minutes 59 seconds. Get in!
Tabou Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 Did my first sub 50 minute 10km yesterday on the treadmill. 49 minutes 59 seconds. Get in! I wish I could run like this. But my knee gives up after about 3 miles.
Bluefoxtim Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 FINALLY managed to get an average speed of 9.0mph over the course of 4 miles. 26 mins 57 seconds! I felt great - running all those half marathons has certainly helped. I could definately go quicker, my run was broken with traffic 3 times!

morris1234 Posted 16 July 2009 Posted 16 July 2009 20km on the bike yesterday, 33 mins and 20 seconds. PB BABY!!!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 After going running on the same route which I have calculated to be about 3.2 miles, I think I am gradually getting better as cow can run the first 1.5 to 2 miles easily without stopping. I have only found myself stopping 3 times today and that was walking for about 50 metres or so didn't lose to much. I need to start pushing myself more not to do this as I know I can run a further. I think I am doing it quicker as well, but I do not jog too quickly though, just a steady consistent pace throughout. Today I had the mother of all stitches on my left hand side of the stomach area, but I eventually managed to run it off. I think it had something to do with me downing a bottle of lucozade rather quickly just before running!
Bluefoxtim Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 Took me a while to find this thread So, is anyone else running in the Great North Run on Sunday? Off early tomorrow morning
General Smuts Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 Took me a while to find this thread So, is anyone else running in the Great North Run on Sunday? Off early tomorrow morning It's all about the Windsor Half Marathon next Sunday. fook knows how i'm gonna complete that! Running a steady 3 miles a day at the minute and only stop because im bored of running in circles. Well inside my target of 10 minute miles too.

Alexikokopops Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 By the way, I'm not sure if I'm going to take James' place at the Windsor one. The whole medical issue worries me a bit. My knee isn't brilliant at the best of times and I had a bit of an issue with it on Monday night. If I had the medical assistance and all that you get if you're properly registered then it wouldn't be a problem.
General Smuts Posted 18 September 2009 Posted 18 September 2009 What's the longest run you've done so far? 6 miles without any hassle. Again i got bored of running in circles. If you run with me, the pace you'll be going at will cause you no medical problems guarenteed. You will be properly registered anyway, just with the wrong name.

Bluefoxtim Posted 20 September 2009 Posted 20 September 2009 Still in my Whitley Bay hotel after the GNR. Did it in 1 hour 42 mins, came 2827th out of at least 55,000 so quite pleased with that considering it was a damn hot day and I was way, way down in the field and I had to run like a crab to get past the slower folk

My Brother In Law ended up in hospital on a drip and apparently so did a lot of others.
Bluefoxtim Posted 21 September 2009 Posted 21 September 2009 Well done! My Brother In Law ended up in hospital on a drip and apparently so did a lot of others. I saw a few people with oxygen masks lying on the side of the road towards the end... With about 400 metres left, some guy in front of me suddenly grabbed his leg, hopped over to the side and collapsed on the grass, how gutting is it to pull a muscle so close to the end? It was hot - I think I took on water at every station bar one, and I also ran through each of the 3 showers - god they were nice
Alexikokopops Posted 21 September 2009 Posted 21 September 2009 I just registered for the Paris Marathon. €67 with cancellation insurance (for my dodgy knee). What have I just done?
