General Smuts Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 2kg's? Hahah! 10k i think. It's weird on the treadmill at the gym, I find if I run slow I struggle, if I go at a faster pace I can go longer. I do exactly the same it also kills my shins to run slower.
Edmund Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 I do exactly the same it also kills my shins to run slower. I do hill running 4 times a week. Gets your calves burning and when I go to do a sprint it feels like your not even trying. Really good way of building stamina and leg muscles.

I tend to do a 5 min jog/warm up, 5 min fast walk incline, 5 min sprint, then perhaps a walk to cool down abit, something like that anyway.

Lovejoy Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Just went for a bangin' run. The best bit though is the ice cold shower after .
James. Posted 23 June 2009 Author Posted 23 June 2009 Just did 10km at 1% gradient in 54 minutes. Felt ok but need to do some interval training to get my pace up.
Teeno Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Joined a gym at the end of the football season as something to do and to get in shape for my holiday. I started of weighing 15.10 now done to 13.8 So lost 2 Stone 2lb in about 8 weeks, I'm well pleased
Poakey Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Need to start running again.Anyone use the Nike+ thingy on the iphone/ipod touch?I'm thinking of getting one of the Nike sensors but not to sure what its about.
General Smuts Posted 24 June 2009 Posted 24 June 2009 Gym tonight me thinks. 1% gradient and hopefully running for at least 45 minutes, as close to 10k as possible. Anywhere around 6/7 will do me nicely.
City fan @ Aston Uni Posted 25 June 2009 Posted 25 June 2009 Just been on my first run since maybe April after suffering an ankle injury during footie. Feel so out of shape, thankfully ankle is only slightly hurting now!
Tevez Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 Just put a cheeky one in. Half hour round my ends. Off to the Gym for me I reckon.
James. Posted 30 June 2009 Author Posted 30 June 2009 Just did 10km with a bit of gradient thrown in for good measure. Fucked me completely. I blame a heavy weekend.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 You might want to wait until it cools down a bit
General Smuts Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 Played 2 40 minute games of 5-a-side back to back on Monday before gan to the pub to watch the U21s. Awful idea in this heat and my feet are shot to bits now. Looked at buying some cheap Puma running trainers on offer at Donnay Shop, once i have these i may start some training.
Babylon Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 Went for a run about 10.30 last night, still bloody hot... my feet got ripped to shreds.
Asha Posted 2 July 2009 Posted 2 July 2009 Think I need to start running more regularly. Paced it up to Old John at Bradgate Park earlier and really enjoyed it.
Guest Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 Hadn't run in over 3 weeks, but I did ok today. More amazingly, having not run, and eaten lots of crap, drunk actual beer (and lots of it) for three weeks, I braved the scales to find that I hadn't put on any weight whilst away.
Bluefoxtim Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 Having done 3 half marathons and a 30 mile off road bike road in less than 3 weeks, I think I deserved a bit of a break. My right knee was aching like a biatch as well. So my first run for 9 days tomorrow... 15 miles is the target Will be thoroughly pissed off in the right knee starts up again - could be my weakness for no real reason? Think i'd better get up early to avoid the heat Anyone else find that they run better after a few drinks the night before?

I find that having a few drinks makes me run better, but it's a fine line between optimal running performance and hangover!

Not quite Just looked at maybe applying for the London marathon.... since when has it been the 'Virgin London Marathon'? Do we get free trains etc if we finish? Without sounding like a cvnt, 13 miles isn't too stressful for me, not sure how well the step up to 26 would go though

I ran Leicester Half the autumn beforehand. To be honest, the weekly long run was a chore, but the main training during the week was surprisingly doable. If Virgin trains are anything like Virgin Atlantic, I would give it a wide berth, unless you don't have to travel pleb class.
Asha Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 I'd love to run the marathon, would have to 2011 though, as I'll still be 17 in April.

I was doing plenty of 4 mile runs a few months ago instead of longer ones, and I much prefer the longer routes. Quite nice running along the canal (apart when some OAP sat on his bike right across the toe path and forced me to stop, walk around, and into the stinging nettles )
