Collymore Posted 16 May 2008 Posted 16 May 2008 Finally got so pissed off today I went down the supermarket and bought a stationary pack to write to the government about the high tax. I've heard some villains put vegetable Oil in their diesel cars and save a lot of money...
Collymore Posted 16 May 2008 Author Posted 16 May 2008 I should that too. Well I found that Asda sold the stationary packs the cheapest. as for vegetable oil, I've heard that you should double check your car can handle it (a lot of modern Diesels need modifying) I'm lucky to have a very basic engine if I ever wanted to use it (and pay the tax on top). I've heard As soon as you get over the embarrassment of trolleying it out of the supermarket it's well worth it.
BigGibbo Posted 16 May 2008 Posted 16 May 2008 I think it should just be prices in general im really starting to notice the last load of hikes loaf of bread £1.40 did they think we wouldn't notice?
Vacamion Posted 16 May 2008 Posted 16 May 2008 Diesel = the Stella Artois of the fuel world You used to buy it, thinking it was good for your engine and you could handle the emissions. Nowadays it costs far too much per gallon and you are spent having taken on board a lot less.
Collymore Posted 16 May 2008 Author Posted 16 May 2008 With everything it seems to be that £1 psychological barrier. I rememeber seeing bread, fuel, eggs etc hover over the £1 mark and everyone was like "can't believe I'm paying over a pound" now it's just got a free license to rise. All the zombies in the country are too worried about getting mugged, or not getting credit etc...

Totally disagree - I've had 800 miles in one tank on diesel which equates to about 60mpg - I know someone who regularly gets 70-75mpg in a modern diesel. Show me a Carling that can do the same?

I knew it was coming when starch prices almost doubled last year. Thank fook I don't work where I used to, because I had enough trouble explaining price increases then!
placidcasual Posted 16 May 2008 Posted 16 May 2008 Gas prices are disgraceful. It is $3.89 a gallon at the moment.
MC Prussian Posted 16 May 2008 Posted 16 May 2008 I have yet to own a car. Public transportation all the way. I do have to use a lorry type vehicle occasionally for work when doing transportation assignments. Whenever I drive around, I just shake my head in disbelief when I see all those poor people driving all ALONE in their own car, with three to four additional seats UNUSED. What freaking sense does that make? Ecological nonsense. And then people complain about fuel prices. Madness.

Wycombe Fox Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 Highest price on the Isle of Wight yesterday was £5.77 per gallon (£1.269 per litre)! B*stards!
Tabou Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 Highest price on the Isle of Wight yesterday was £5.77 per gallon (£1.269 per litre)!B*stards! I've just got a new company car (Pick it up on thursday) , a diesel, and although diesel is topping £1.30 a litre at the moment, I will be doing circa 60,000k a year. So surely I will benefit????
MC Prussian Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 That's right. We should all go out and by two seaters to be more environmentally friendly. I see someone's fancying convertibles.
Tabou Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 I see someone's fancying convertibles. If anyone fancies buying my car, PM me
Mickey O'Neil Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 My mate Davinder has got about 4 blokes at his work running their cars on cooking oil. Good on them I say. I'm sure he said you need a Bosch fuel pump for this to work. I read that a barrel of oil is set to hit between $150-$200 this year. It was about $20 a barrel 5 or 6 years ago.
placidcasual Posted 17 May 2008 Posted 17 May 2008 pffft have you actually seen what we pay here? I know it is still dirt cheap over here but the price of a gallon has nearly tripled since December 03. Then you have idiots like Clinton (H) and Mclain saying that the federal gas tax should be suspended for the summer. Which is all well and good but it is only 18.4 cents a gallon. So their plan to save me about $2 on a fill up will end up costing people jobs as the road construction industry will shut down due to lack of federal funds.
Alexikokopops Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 Carefuldid you smell like a chippy? It's depressing looking at that article from 2002 and seeing that petrol prices are 73p a litre. I've got a mate from Venezuala and it costs him 0.7p per litre when he's at home. He says that filling his car up once here costs as much as an entire year of filling it up in Venezuala (twice a week).
grth2004 Posted 18 May 2008 Posted 18 May 2008 big difference in prices if you shop around look at this leics petrol
