Staf Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 Doubts over England away friendly Warner ® says the game could be called off England's friendly match against Trinidad and Tobago on 1 June could be cancelled in a domestic row over rental terms for the stadium. The country's Ministry of Sports owns the Hasely Crawford Stadium. But the Caribbean nation's football federation (TTFF) are in dispute with them over advertising and rental fees. Fifa vice-president Jack Warner, a TTFF special advisor, said unless the terms of the agreement were changed the England match would be cancelled. "If the sports minister does not answer and withdraw this agreement, we have authorised our attorney to file an injunction to restrain the minister for imposing these conditions," he said. "If the injunction fails, the match fails, I refund people their money and apologise to the world. "If the injunction wins, then the game is on. If the minister chooses to withdraw this today, then there is no injunction, the game is on." A letter from the TTFF's attorney, published in the local media on Wednesday, said the conditions demanded by the ministry "will result in a breach of contract with the English FA and may result in a cancellation of the match". The dispute is the latest in a series of rows involving the TTFF and comes after it was ordered by an arbitration panel in London this week to pay its 2006 World Cup squad extensive bonuses. I know people probably dont care about England friendlies but it thought i would let people know incase someone was going
Webbo Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I care . I'm sure they could rig up an alternative quite easily.
lildave3 Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 I hope it's called off. Why? I'd rather watch this game than no game.
Dames Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 Isn't Jack Walker the guy that was so outspoken about us getting the world cup? Some how i don't think this is just a coincidence.
Floating Fox Posted 22 May 2008 Posted 22 May 2008 Why? I'd rather watch this game than no game. Excuse to get drunk as well.
act smiley Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Isn't Jack Walker the guy that was so outspoken about us getting the world cup? Some how i don't think this is just a coincidence. It is - he's a complete crook. Stole all the development money for CONCACAF to build some absurd £20m training venue, using a relative's building firm, sold all the Trinidad and Tobago World Cup allocations exclusively via another relatives travel company (plus massive booking fees etc.) and touted all the official ones. Just keeps going though because he's mates with Sepp Blatter. Its almost certainly some scamtastic thing, rather than some sort of anti-England thing. He only cares about that when it looks like the FA will grow some balls and might mention he's less than reputable.
surrifox Posted 23 May 2008 Posted 23 May 2008 Yes I read that as well. it's incredible that world football is so influenced and controlled by low life like Walker and Blatter
Tilley Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 It's defo on now isn't it, Isn't kick off time something ridiculous like 22:30
Simi Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 Why? I'd rather watch this game than no game. I'm not sure I would. I've lost touch with the England team. I don't like watching a bunch of overpaid twats that don't care **** all about the team, only for themselves. The media attention that surrounds games as well is boring.

Yeah, I only watch Qualifiers & Competitions, I have been and always will be a club man, I saw a programme on Eurosport the other day, previewing the Euro 2008 groups, & can't believe England aren't there!
Jay Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 what exactly is the point of this friendly? have T&T just offered The FA a big wad of cash to play the game because what is the point of traveling half way around the world to play a very poor football side. is it to demeaning to play one of the European sides who HAVE qualified for Euro2008 as a warm up game Greece, Sweden, Romania any of them would have been a far more worthwhile game!!
FoxesRoyal Posted 25 May 2008 Posted 25 May 2008 It will be going ahead as it says it will be gooing ahead on teletext. Hope it does might get to see some of the younger players play and we would still most probaly thrash them.

It's not just that i tend to find that these games are becoming very boring aswell. (although probably will watch it as there will be nothing else on). I find it difficult watch the England manager giving a press conference through an interpreter, Im not against a foriegn manager but he has had enough time now to grasp basic english surely.

I like everything I hear in this, particularly because most of the dropped players were rather anonymous last night. Everyone wants to see how an alternative England line up with no big names would fare. Personally, I can't wait to see Agbonlahor start.
Joe. Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Well we might actually see an England friendly actually being put to use for once. I'm glad all these Man Utd/Chelsea players aren't travelling.
Simi Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Well we might actually see an England friendly actually being put to use for once. Are you referring to the time the game is being shown? If so, I agree. More friendlies should be put on when people are in bed.
