Bryn Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Where has Mark Robins name come from?I've just had a very pis sed off Graham Fenton on the phone. If any old ex-Leicester forward can throw their name in to the hat, he wants to know how he should go about doing so. You got lucky - I've got a lengthy answer phone message in rapid Icelandic from Arnar Gunnlaugsson.
The Reverend Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 I thought Thracian had took it a bit too far when i read the thread title as Dodds for manager...
Scow Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Worth a quid. "I'd have to be off my head to go there. They must have had half a dozen managers in the last two years so it doesn't appeal to me at all." Ferguson Link - maybe not then.
Head Honcho Posted 28 May 2008 Posted 28 May 2008 Don't forget though the bookies have been wrong twice with us this season.First they stopped taking bets on Ince and we got Allen and second they stopped taking bets on Royle and we got Holloway. New manager betting is just an way for bookmakers to advertise their product. They know sod all about who's going to get the job and anyone who thinks otherwise is living in cloud cuckoo land! Try sticking £200 on big sam at 14/1 and you'll see what I mean-you'd have no chance, they'd give you £20 tops at 14/1.

Guest Bilo Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Next Permanent Leicester City Manager - Who will succeed Ian Holloway as manager of Leicester city Selections Odds Billy Davies 7/4 Simon Grayson 9/4 Paul Lambert 4/1 John Gregory 9/2 Paul Ince 6/1 Steve Cotterill 13/2 Steve Walsh 8/1 Lawrie Sanchez 10/1 Gerry Taggart 12/1 Mike Newell 12/1 Steve McClaren 12/1 John Collins 14/1 Richard Money 14/1 Darren Ferguson 18/1 Steve Tilson 20/1 Danny Wilson 20/1 Peter Reid 20/1 Russell Slade 20/1 Dave Penney 25/1 Joe Royle 25/1
Father Ted Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Predrag "Preki" Radosavlejvic is another to go into the mates category. Preki is an absolute legend!! He played at Portsmouth under MM and he's also in management at the moment. But hiring the likes of Prosinecki and Preki could be a risk.
C-man Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 What are the odds of the new manager being none of the bookies' given managers?
Babylon Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 I fancy a fiver each way on Sanchez. I forgot about him... what odds the man who started our demise (wycombe cup defeat), comes in and saves us. Shame I hate the man with a passion, but people hated Warnock and look what he did at palace.

Fox in a Box Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Pool boss is Leicester favourite http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/blackpoo...rite.4125558.jp A LEADING bookmaker has installed Simon Grayson as favourite to land the Leicester job. In a development which will cause Blackpool supporters a deal of anxiety, Grayson has moved into pole position as Milan Mandaric hunts for Ian Holloway's replacement. The Seasiders boss is listed at odds of 11/4 with bookies Victor Chandler's, ahead of next best Billy Davies (10/3), Paul Lambert (4/1) and Paul Ince (11/2). Grayson laughs off Leicester talk "Nearly all the early inquiries that we fielded for the Leicester manager's market were for Simon Grayson," said Neal Wilkins from VC Bet. "He has displaced Billy Davies as favourite for a position that has definitely become a poisoned chalice." Grayson is continuing to play down the speculation and has insisted that he is focused on signing the right players to help Pool stay in the Championship next season. "It's flattering to be linked with another job but it's pure speculation," said the Seasiders boss. "When players do well at a certain club and are successful then they are linked with other teams and it's the same with managers. It's just the way football is, but it doesn't mean it's going to happen." Popular Many Pool supporters question why Grayson would be attracted to a club that has just been relegated to League One and has the unpredictable Mandaric at the helm. But they are underestimating the emotional attachment Grayson has to Leicester, a club where he enjoyed the best footballing years of his career and was a hugely popular figure. If Grayson is approached there is a real chance he would go - but it depends on whether an approach is made. Mandaric has announced that he is sifting through an "encouraging" list of applicants for the vacant job. Since Ian Holloway parted company with the club at the weekend, the Foxes chief has not found himself short of options. "I have looked at those who have expressed an interest, and I must say I find the quality in the list of names very encouraging," said Mandaric. "It shows that some very good people still see this club as one with potential and with the ingredients to become a top-flight side once again, even though we are currently in the third level of the game. "So I will take my time, go through the names and give it a lot of thought because this is the most important decision I have ever had to make, and already there are a lot of good candidates." Mandaric is reported to want a new man in charge by the second week in June. Grayson would certainly be a popular choice among Leicester fans. Cliff Ginnetta, chairman of the Foxes official supporters club, thinks Blackpool's boss should be near the top of the club's wanted list. He said: "It has got to be someone who knows the club and what it means." Lance Tomlyn, chairman of Leicester's Independent Supporters Association, is also pro-Grayson and felt that getting Blackpool promoted from League One would stand him in good stead for the job. Questioned last week about the threat of Grayson being poached, Seasiders chairman Karl Oyston replied: "I'm not saying it doesn't bother me but I can't comment on something there is no substance for. "Until I get a phone call from Milan (Mandaric) saying 'can we talk to your manager?' then there is nothing to talk about - and I haven't had a phone call saying that." The Gazette understands that despite the fact that Grayson is the bookies frontrunner, he is not one of Mandaric's top two targets.
Fox in a Box Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has revealed he will not stop manager Simon Grayson leaving Bloomfield Road to join another club. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ool/7424295.stm Grayson has been linked with the vacant managerial role with his former club Leicester City following the recent dismissal of Ian Holloway. "If Arsenal ring up and say 'we want Simon' I'll get him in the car and take him," Oyston told BBC Radio Lancashire. "That's the world we're in, so there's no point anyone getting hysterical." He's clearly very talented, committed and has a very good work ethic Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston The 38-year-old became caretaker manager in November 2005 following Colin Hendry's departure. He took over the role permanently before the start of the 2006-07 season and signed a new two-and-a-half year deal with the club last December. After guiding Blackpool to 19th in the Championship last season - their first in the second tier of English football for 29 years - a number of clubs quickly realised Grayson's potential. "If, and when, he feels he can further his career and it's a good opportunity then he'll be off," said Oyston. "But we want to try and give Simon the best chance to flourish." "Every one of the three seasons he's had he's made some massive achievements. "The first year he kept us up when we looked absolutely dead and buried. I still rate that as his biggest achievement because it's very difficult as a manager to bring in players to a club that's floundering," added the chairman. "To retain Championship status this season has been fantastic. He's clearly very talented, committed and has a very good work ethic that he instils into the team

Ric Flair Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 He didn't play at Portsmouth under Mandaric - he played there a year or two before and I seem to remember hearing that he actually talked Mandaric into buying Portsmouth. He's currently manager at US Chivas. Prosinecki is Assistant Manager for Croatia's National Team. Doubtful either would fancy a stint in the East Midlands.

He'll be sweet on the idea. Trust.
The People's Hero Posted 29 May 2008 Posted 29 May 2008 Easier to read like this:Mark Jarvis: 6-4 Billy Davies 7-2 Paul Lambert 5-1 Paul Ince, Darren Ferguson, Gerry Taggart 8-1 Simon Grayson 10-1 Lawrie Sanchez, Mike Newell 12-1 Sam Allardyce 14-1 Peter Reid, Mark Robins 16-1 Joe Royle, John Gregory 20-1 John Collins 40-1 Steve Walsh 66-1 Franck Rolling Might have a cheeky pound on Franck.

Saying that his family are American so I dunno whether he'd actually want to leave. Still only in the same category of delusion as the likes of Paul Ince, I'd say.
