l444ry Posted 15 July 2008 Posted 15 July 2008 On first impressions I'd not say our team looks necessarily weaker at all. I've long suggested that not having passers nor any great pace in defence has been a major weakness in our team, particularly as a launchpad for attacks. But if James Chambers can deliver the sort of performance he gave Saturday in Division One then I don't see why Stearman should be especially missed. I was never a big fan of McAuley anyway and, while Michael Morrison looked solid enough in McAuley's stopper role he also gave the impression he could pass and support the team going forward. I've criticised Worley as being prone to making errors and there was another one Saturday but he also looked seriously dominant in the air - as well he might be at 6ft 3ins - and, again, looked capable of playing the ball forward constructively even if there remains room for improvement. With Kerrea Gilbet there as an additional full-back and Bulgarian international centre-back Tunchev (admittedly unseen, but seemingly well enough known) I really cannot see why we should necessarily weaker at the back while, in midfield, the improvement appears to be dramatic. Nicky Adams looks seriously positive and his goals last season would take our combined midfield about three years to match on recent performances. Porter is, hopefully, back from injury offering the potential to play in at least two positions, while Gradel will surely become something of a cult figure and guarantee goals that have not been seen from our wings for years. Lloyd Dyer on the left seems to know his way to goal as well so, all in all, I doubt we'll have much trouble making up Hume's 11 goal contribution and first impressions are that the new players might even gel more easily than might have been the case with Hume who I never thought was a great pass and move player. He was more a helter-skelter with a reasonable eye for goal. Anyway I'm quite sure that the combined efforts of Gradel, Dyer, Adams will amount to more goals than Hume and am equally sure that Porter will bag a few given chance not to mention what our centre-forwards do. So where would we be weaker except perhaps in goal compared with the first half of last season? I like your positivity, Thracian, and hope all you have written comes to pass. It all looks good on paper. But you don't need me to tell you, however, that the game is played on grass. I just get the feeling that having not played competitively for several weeks, therefore not losing, a euphoric sense of complacency is setting in. In fact, most fans appear to be getting ecstatic over new players they have only read about. Deja vu, I suspect.
teblin Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 Hayes Hellings and Hayles are all told by NP that he would like them to have moved on before he gets back from team bonding.Sappleton is seen by NP as a player for the future. I think he is better than Howard now. Mm has told Np he expects his highest paid players to be playing every week. Highest 3 players Campbell Ngotty Howard I dont know if Np will become a great Leicester manager, but I have found him a cold and distance person. I am finding it very differcult to warm to him as a person. See Hayes's status on face book was something to do with hiim having a fight with Tags.

Uncle Albert Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 Tubes has just informed that Beswick had a proper fight with Taggart, and Sappleton tried to split it up. This information came to us by the girlfriend of a player. Me and Tevez can also back up this source.

Milky Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 I wonder how Beswick went about taking on Taggs. Jump on his back, arms round the throat and the odd knee to the kidney?

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Sounds like Beswick needs a reality check and to learn a bit of respect before getting into a fight with a member of staff (who is also a club legend).
Candidcamera Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Being distant from the players can be good. The other approach in recent years hasn't got us far. The criticisn with MON was the same and look what he achieves. There does appear to be sensible transfer recruits this time around. Let's reduce the wages bill and flog off Ngotty and Howard.

Candidcamera Posted 19 July 2008 Posted 19 July 2008 Is there anything in the rumour that Steve Beaglehole and his 2 assistants are leaving ? Read this on another site.
knowitall Posted 19 July 2008 Author Posted 19 July 2008 Is there anything in the rumour that Steve Beaglehole and his 2 assistants are leaving ? Read this on another site. Steve Beaglehole was upset that on July 1st Leicester had not offered him a "more important role" at the club. Dont know what this meant, but then he was offered the Ireland job. So thought he was happy. However thats not to say he is happy. When Steve is unhappy keep out his way. He can strip paint off woodwork.
