Not everyday you bump into your sporting hero

I was standing at the front of the queue today at the baggage checking terminal with my parter at George Best, Belfast City Airport around 4pm today when i noticed a man with his young toddler son with matching orban hair and his very attractive wife. Hardly a shock to see him at a Belfast airport i know but it was Neil Lennon who was getting on a Flybe flight to Glasgow. I really wanted to ask him if he had any interest in the post available at city but i didnt want to seem intrusive as he was holding his son and his wife seemed to be having problems with the baggage.

My mum was in Dublin last week and Niall Quinn was on the same flight as her.

Nothing to do with this really, just saying she saw an ex footballer at an airport...:dunno::unsure:

They all come with it, the trick is to smile and nod so that they think you are listening and agreeing.

That's the easy bit, don't forget we will test you on it at a later date.

I just kind of clammed up big style and the second he was out of reach for me to converse i thought of about a million and one LCFC related things i wanted to ask him.

Ahhh reminds of the time back in November of last year when I boarded the same flight as Bruno N'Gotty with his wife and kid only to board the same flight back as Bruno N'Gotty, wifeless and kidless lol I'll never forget the nod of appreciation when I called out "Bruno!" across the passport control hall. :P

I met him the summer after he left LCFC.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...tic/1439081.stm - Holloway was QPR manager.

I wasn't expecting to see him, it was at Loftus Road and the Celtic team had got back on their bus. I just opened a door and Lennon was stood right in front of me. Bearing in mind it was at a QPR v Celtic friendly in London, he spoke first - taking a quick glance at my Leicester shirt...

"What the **** are you doing here?"

...and?

What the **** were you doing there?

What did he do next?

You can't just leave the story halfway through. I'm damned if I'm waiting for sequels - is there somewhere I can download the entire story so I can finish it all off tonight?

I was driving through town about a month ago and was stopped at the traffic lights near St Margarets bus station waiting for them to change to green and i had Stearman in front of me in his really cheap looking car  .

Just thought id share that piece of useless info with everyone! lol

I was once with Brian Little in the departure lounge at EMA but I didn't want to intrude and talk to him either.

It was my 17th birthday, I went with a mate of mine who supported Celtic. I sort of stammered that I wanted to come down and see how him and O'Neill were getting on, so he said "ah right".

Then I was stuck for something else to say and stupidly blurted out "good news about Muzzy" cos Izzet had just said he was staying with us rather than going to Celtic.

He looked at me as if I was an absolute moron and went "for youse lot, yeah" and walked off.

It's great meeting your sporting heroes.

Next week - how I got told off by Curtly Ambrose for being rude when I was 11 (that's actually a true story).

Are you sure it wasn't the other way round? :P

lol

One of my friend's cousins was married to Heskey (not sure how long ago now), and Emile used to buy him and his brother loads of stuff (including the use of his executive box at Anfield when Leicester played there in 2003/2004) and go round their house. Lucky bastard.

Walshy was in town today. I did a double take and stared a second too long. On his phone on High Street.

Hardly postworthy but while we're here, innit.

Last year i was sitting next to Trevor Francis :) in the departure lounge at Coventry airport (aka a garage) while we waited for a flight to Barcelona, i think he was going to commentate on a Champions League game. He's not my hero lol i just thought i'd mention it because there seems to be a airport theme going on.

I met my hero Muzzy Izzet on the open top bus parade in 1996 ;)

I met Neil Lewis & Jamie Lawrence down a back street and they challenged me to a duel.

I won
