DonsFan Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 Or perhaps you can't.... Sorry, didn't see that post. Mandaric's reason enough.
Staf Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 This would be brilliant however i cant see it happening. Although i believe we are a bigger and better club than them i think he will stay at Franchise just to be loyal although if he did come i would love it
Fez of Mahrez Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 Haven't read through the thread properly but my thoughts are this; You shouldn't approach a manager unless you are 99% sure you can get him. You don't approach them just to talk to them, you approach them to appoint them. That's how it works and always has. If you don't get him it means whoever you do appoint is in a weak position from the get-go because the world and his wife know he wasn't the first choice - or at least wasn't first choice enough to talk to solely first. You weigh up the achievable options and you make your move in a decisive fashion. Either a lot of us are very wrong about this and Ince is ambitious/money-orientated/deranged enough to come here or Mandaric has made yet another huge error in my book.
Scow Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 I think people quite fancy beating us because of the whole franchise thing. I was also hoping we could surprise a few people, but the bookies have put paid to that. I think you've just proved my point. 1) Clubs will only want to beat you because of the Franchise thing - not because you're a club with our level of stature. 2) You were hoping to surprise people - well, if you believed in your own hype, you'd be happy with the odds offered by the bookies. I think the odds reflect the poor state of League One - MK Dons and Posh have ambitious owners with a bit of money to spend - the rest of the division don't have that luxury apart from us and Leeds perhaps. However, teams such as Southend, Colchester and Scun thorpe may have something to say about what happens next season - all clubs with a stable set-up and previous success in this league in recent years.

Oh we're not a big club, and I'm quite happy with that. Also we spent £100k last season, Posh spent £400k on their goalkeeper. We have nowhere near as much as them to spend, especially with the stadium.
thecannon Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 I'd like it if he came. Top man. I think the players and the fans will respect him!
Corky Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 What's he done to upset you? Nicked the nutter from them last May, but that didn't really hinder them, so I don't know.
DonsFan Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 What's he done to upset you? Nothing at all, but I think he's absolutely clueless. If anything I should thank him for taking Allen off our hands.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 He comes out of this well: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle2419068.ece What a delightful individual Doesn't reflect on his ability to manage a football club, admittedly
Guest Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 Nothing at all, but I think he's absolutely clueless. If anything I should thank him for taking Allen off our hands. The thing is though, Mandaric could leave at any time, plus we have the most amazing Trust in the Football League, who are in the process of hatching up a top secret plot for a New Saviour to come in and make this football club great again. By great, I mean an average Premiership team.
Fox You Forest Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 Nothing at all, but I think he's absolutely clueless. If anything I should thank him for taking Allen off our hands. George Bush is clueless, Does that mean you think the USA isnt a big country ?
RowlattsFox Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 I can't see this happening, but it is nice to see us going for people like Ince. I don't think going public is the best idea unless we are confident of getting him. I just hope we don't start approaching loads of clubs and they all start turning us down. One thing I find strange is that some people will gladly accpet Ince but don't want Grayson, why is that? Grayson managerial achievements are in some ways better than Ince's.

From what I can make out, it's Winkelman that's gone public with it. That bloke is an utter twat anyway but I would assume he's fairly confident of keeping him. He belongs in a tribute band for some ageing rockers anyway. I can't stand him. (yeah blah blah Mandaric blah, Winkelman is a c**t for what he did)
DonsFan Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 Basically here's my view. If Ince wants to go then Winkelman will let him, he has never held anyone back at the club; McLeod, Platt, Allen are a few examples. But I cannot see him wanting to take it; that's no disrespect to you as a club but why leave for a club in the same division when you can spend another year here and add 'loyalty' to the personal qualities section on your CV? Plus there's the Mandaric problem with job security - here he is a God, Holloway was the same at Plymouth and you guys didn't seem to like him after a bad start, and he was given barely any time before Mandaric axed him. If you are given permission to speak to him you should let him name his price because he truly is the brightest young manager in England. We've played brilliant football, won every competition we've had a realistic chance of winning (including beating three teams from higher leagues on the way to the JP Trophy). Champions, day out at Wembley (winning), we could not have asked for anything more. If he does come to you however, that's three jobs in three years, and can't see him staying put until he gets to the very top. He wants to retire with Inter.

Guest Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 Is Mk Dons a managerial factory line for us?? If it is, let's hope it got fixed since last time we used it
Ajax Treesdown Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 If Ince did come (unlikely I know)......I can see it now........ "HOLLOWAY NAMED MK DONS BOSS" or "DONS COMPLETE ALLEN RETURN" Nice
Flynny Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 If Mandaric gets Ince I will personally pick up the phone and order a bevy of lovely ladies* to appear at his office. If he doesn't get him he's played his cards too openly and too publically and he's a knob. *cheap hookers
lavrentis Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 Is Mk Dons a managerial factory line for us?? Yeah anyone that comes here is going to end jobless.
Fox You Forest Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 We have the Prem stadium/fanbase/training/more money to spend etc.We have Premiership potential in the next 5 seasons or so, i believe anyway, which i don't think Mk Dons have not disrespect to them. No, you haven't. Perhaps you would like to qualify that opinion? Or perhaps you can't.... Sorry, didn't see that post.Mandaric's reason enough. What on earth does your owner have to do with you being a big club?
DonsFan Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 If you read the quotes, I said that with Mandaric in charge you have little hope of reaching the Premiership in five years. I'm going to change my mind on what I said earlier, and agree that you probably are a fairly big club. In terms of fanbase and infrastructure.
