Daggers Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 I'd be pretty sure Milan's got somebody in his mind in preparation for hearing MK Dons' rejection so I expect to hear the new appointment in the next few days. Milan has things on his mind alright
Ric Flair Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 If he didn't want to come here (even apply for the job) what were we playing at approaching him when there were apparently 20 good applicants for the job. I'm dreading the outcome. That's the thing, I think Ince actually was interested in coming before this Blackburn malarky.

There wouldn't be an announcement/press conference on a Saturday or Sunday would they? Obviously you know as much as me but do you think we're looking at either later today or Monday?
Joe. I would imagine Monday or Tuesday with the fact that Milan said he would like to finish the candidate interviews. So unless he finishes them today and makes a quick decision I would say early next week.

Nothing will come out today, too short notice, although it is only 11am. Maybe Monday or Tuesday I'd say. But I know nothing,

SO next week we will have a new manager, the money has to be on Gregory!! Davies will not be interested and the third candidate is porbably someone like Peter Ried if not Les Reed!!!
harpendenfox Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Why do most people seem opposed to John Gregory? I have no particular view on the guy. But why the hatred? I seem to remember similar 'please not Glenn Roeder' type posts ins recent years. Didn't do too bad at Naaarch. Sensible answers please. Saying he's a to%ser doesn't shed much light on it all
MikeyT Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 There's only one BILLY DAVIES, one BILLY DAAAAAVIES!!!!!
Finchy Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 So are Grayson and Steve Clarke still in the running? They were the ones i wanted.
Jon the Hat Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Agree entirely!! And what were we playing at waiting for him after approaching him!! Time is ticking... What makes you think we have been waiting. The proces has clearly continued with other candidates. If MKD had said yes he could have been interviewed today, so no delays either way. People need to quit this negativity. You don't make omlette without breaking eggs as they say.

Saying he's a to%ser doesn't shed much light on it all I don't like him because he's a nasty piece of work. I don't mind that if you have a good managing track record, but he doesn't and certainly not at a lower leavel either. He was awful at Wycombe and not so great at QPR. Villa was the only place he did ok at to start with.
Tilley Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Pompey win percentage 20% Plymouth win percentage 31% Wycombe win percentage 32% Aston Villa win percentage 43% Derby win percentage 29% QPR win percentage 27%. There is John Gregorys win percentages, need I say anymore.

The fact he walked out of Liecester hours after he said in a TV interview he was gonna stay really made me hate him!! He should stick to playing his guitar and singing old Status Quo songs for a living!!!

Milan's statements in the press mainly about waiting patiently and doing everything by the book. I just think that if I had applied for a job but I knew the company I had applied to was waiting for someone else then I'd be a tad narked and less inclined to take any job offered knowing that I would be at least second choice. Ince was always first choice for this job whether Milan said it or not. Thats just my opinion. And you can make an omlette with egg powder where don't need to break eggs....tastes like shit though!!

Joe. Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Davies has a 39.9% win ratio in his managerial career along with a 67.2% games not lost ratio.
Daggers Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 That's the thing, I think Ince actually was interested in coming before this Blackburn malarky. Not for a second. You are an up and coming manager - do you seriously consider going to work for the most unstable chairman in football and a club of serial failures? Ince, as I have been saying, declined the offer to work for us on two previous occasions. Since then we have dropped a division and embroiled ourselves in more nonsense. As I said back when we sacked Holloway, Mandaric has been sending a clear statement to the world of football and it is "I can not be relied upon". He was an object of comedy on 5Live the following weekend - his actions in hiring and firing have resulted in us being totally unable to attract any managers of talent. Again, I said at the time, we should have stuck with Holloway because replacing him would prove to be a big ask. Now, like before, we know that whoever gets appointed will be a long way from first choice. Mandaric needs to pull a rabbit from the hat because without one, and a massive dose of luck, he is going to be coming in for serious flack.

Thanks Good point, but It's Gregory as a man, he's a sly arsehole who has no passion, no leadership & he is pretty usueless imo. Preston BD had a 44% win percentage. Derby BD had a 44% win percentage.

I have it on good authority that Ince made it beknown to Messrs Mandaric and Aldridge that he would be interested in the vacant manager's job at LCFC, this was before the Blackburn link though.
harpendenfox Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Thanks for all the stats. I guess the stats don't lie. As Shakira would say if she were a football fan
