managerinsidernews Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 If you don't mind me asking, who's your source or are you larry himself???? No, sadly I am not Simon Grayson. I have just spoken to a couple of people around the North West and they believe Grayson fancies it. Apparently Billy Davies has been a non-starter from day one. There's a lad at Blackpool called Wes Hoolahan who has a £250,000 clause in his contract, he's the player you want if you get Larry. Top class.

bald reynard Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Hi lads,New around here, and not a Leicester fan, but I have a few bits and bobs for you. Billy Davies is not in for the job in anyway. Apparently he will not be getting the job, or speaking to the club. Simon Grayson returned from his holiday this morning, and will be talking to Leicester within the next 24 hours, will also bring Steve Thomson with him as his number two. 'Larry' knows League One inside out and has already taken a club out of the division, would you be happy with him? You sound very knowledgeable - where does all this come from ?! IF true, I suppose it does fit in with Mandy's 'timetable' and the fact that (only yesterday) he said, "the most important thing is to find a manager who really cares and is passionate about Leicester City" - I think most know that 'Larry' remains a 'City man' at heart (I remember him being interviewed last year after the Sky Masters competition - when he played for City - and he was really 'talking up' his Leicester connections and interest, despite then being the Blackpool manager).
Simi Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Another kick in the balls for this club. But if anyone was seriously thinking that Paul Ince was going to come to us, you're being very optimistic. Why would and up and coming manager want to come with us? The ridiculous statements Mandaric leaks to the press about back to back promotions. We've not even managed back to wins for a whole season. He's making a mockery out of the football club and scaring candidates off. I don't blame Ince for coming here. It would only hamper his development as a manager. We'll now end up with a middle of the road manager who has no real success I think. More than likely out by Christmas. Day by day this club manages to carry on tarnishing it's repuation. We were stupid to go after Ince in the first place. But I suppose Mandaric has to look like he's trying.

Agree with everything your saying Ched(ic) Whoever comes here has to either be crazy or 110% sure in themselves that they will get results. As you say, statements from the chairman like, "I want back to back promotions" is stupid, unrealistic and would be very off putting to any serious contenders for the job. I'm all for ambition and confidence, but MM takes the biscuit. Leicester City Football Club is becoming even more a joke by the day, I'm very worried for what the next 12 months has to offer. We will be very very lucky if we can get a haf decent manager.
Joinesy77 Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 oh well, chin up. still reckon billy davies is a better appointment than paul ince as he has way mor experience in the upper leagues. Come on Billy Davies!

Perhaps someone whos going to try things a little different and shake the players up a bit might actually work. I think everyone would agree that some of the most successful managers out there at the moment are more than just a little crazy. Please don't jump on me because I'm not for a minute suggesting that we will attract this calibre of manager, however, Ferguson, Mourinho and Wenger are all a bit eccentric... Hey, Scolari is a flipping nutcase... Maybe theres something in that.
Maybes Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 oh well, chin up. still reckon billy davies is a better appointment than paul ince as he has way mor experience in the upper leagues.Come on Billy Davies! Billy Davies will not be joining Leicester City. FACT.
Legend_in_blue Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 When the final whistle blew at the end of the season, at least it was an end to it. An end to the uncertainty of it all. A new start. A new beginning. But no. It feels like we're struggling through next season already and it hasn't even started yet. I'm depressed. I need cheering up. I'm fed up. Oh, at least I'll be £153 worse off at the end of this month, and then another £153 worse off next month too. Season ticket loyalty and all that. Yeah cheers.
iancognito Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 Imagine that, Thommo and Larry in charge. The Steve Walsh column will be filled with even more glib anecdotes and quotes like "knowing Larry he'll have given the players a tongue-lashing after that result" than ever before. Whoever we get will now feel like a second choice, no matter what Mandaric says about having no favourites. Not having a favourite translates into not having a fcking clue. Newell, Davies, Grayson, Gregory, Sanchez? Make a fcking decision! It's becoming the latest joke in the stand up comedy that is LCFC
lookwhaticando Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 the lack of coverage his name has got in all of this Martin Allen wasn't talked about much until the very end of the search for a boss. Gary Megson wasn't mentioned at all until he was practically in the chair already. A lack of noise doesn't always mean that something is far away... it could just be muffled. this is a interesting statement! Two words. Steve. Walsh.
Daggers Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 A lack of noise doesn't always mean that something is far away... it could just be muffled. "when the seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea".
mikelcfc Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 wel who ever we get milan has said we will have a manager before thwe 15th. thats sunday . ever heard of a weekend press conference??
Unabomber Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 wel who ever we get milan has said we will have a manager before thwe 15th. thats sunday . ever heard of a weekend press conference?? Tbh ever heard of most of the things that have happened to our club during the last few years.
fox123 Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 With the quotes Milan has been coming out with today I would say that the only probable candidate that would be as passionate about this club as he wants them to be would be Simon Grayson! I hope whoever is installed passes the passion onto the players!
Simon Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 So, basically, Ince said 'Thanks, but no thanks..." Brilliant.
Chrysalis Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 The more I think about it the more I want simon grayson. 1 - if hearsay is true he wants to be here (very important) 2 - recent experience of promotion in this division
lookwhaticando Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 "when the seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea". Fuck me what a pleasing thought... Gregory being hauled into the sea from the back of a trawler. That just made my day. Cheers, Daggsy.
demon_dog Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 STOP PRESS. Groundbreaking news. Having just spent some time in my local hostely, getting politely persisted, I was given some info which leaves me slightly perplexed. I have heard from a very reliable source who has good contacts within the club that, wait for it ........................... Nigel Worthington is in the frame for the job. Before you all shout and scream, YES I do know that he is currently manager of Northern Ireland, that is why I am perplexed. The source was absolutely emphatic that he has been interviewed and that many people within the club would welcome his return. Sorry can't name the source as the club know him very well. If it's true, then wouldn't complain if he was at the helm once again.

Sods Posted 13 June 2008 Posted 13 June 2008 The only problem ive got is that Milans going to appoint someone very soon just because it gives a manager 15 days to look at the players we already have. Fair enough but lets get the right man this time.
