Jordan Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 If Ince has no interest in the job then what makes us think that Mclaren will go from England manager to a league 1 club with a notoriously impatient chairman. Ince already has a job; McLaren doesn't and he's not linked with any vacancies right now. ...but I don't think there's much (if any) substance behind these McLaren rumo(u)rs.
lookwhaticando Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 McLaren doesn't and he's not linked with any vacancies right now. FC Twente?
C-man Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 FC Twente? Didn't he also say he'd be interested in Blackburn?
Finchy Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 If Ince has no interest in the job then what makes us think that Mclaren will go from England manager to a league 1 club with a notoriously impatient chairman. Well because no one in this country above League 1 will touch him with a barge pole, simply because the job he did with England has made people forget what a good job he did at Middlesborough. FC Twente fans really don't want him either.
lookwhaticando Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 Didn't he also say he'd be interested in Blackburn? Of course he did. Steve McClaren is in danger of becoming the new John Gregory.
lildave3 Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 Not quite. We've had several managers who tbf have been nobodies. We get McClaren - we get the press laughing at how we've taken on board the twat who couldn't get England qualified. We'd have more press attention than ever and everyone would just find it hilarious that out of all the candidates we ended up with him.It better be a rumour. Yeah. Who'd want a guy that's managed in the Premiership, took Middlesbrough, yes Middlesbrough, to a uefa cup final and managed at International level. I'm not even gonna mention his experience as an assistant either.
gosfox Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 It really makes me smile when people talk about LCFC being the laughing stock of the country...... does anyone REALLY think that anybody outside of Leicester gives a flying feck about whats going on here???? The state City are in at the moment, the only person being regarded as a laughing stock would be McClaren himself...... if he did actually end up here it really would be amazing
MC Prussian Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 McClaren deserves the shtick... on an international level, where he was totally out of his depth... But blimey, on club level... Reaching the UEFA Cup with Boro is quite an accomplishment, especially given the squad there was at the time.
Tommy Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 Just been on SSN, Leicester confirm a two man shortlist. No names mentioned or owt, but it must be drawing to and end.
Brainy Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 Larry and Gregory i reckon. I think I read earlier that the two on his shortlist were 'big name Englismen' so I cant see it being Grayson.
The Stig Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 Yeah. Who'd want a guy that's managed in the Premiership, took Middlesbrough, yes Middlesbrough, to a uefa cup final and managed at International level. I'm not even gonna mention his experience as an assistant either. Spot on. People fail to realise that Premiership to international management is a HUGE step up, they are a world apart. For me, Mclaren could manage in the prem let along League 1. Some people just need to realise who this football club is, a league one club and what Mclaren has actually done in his career.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 14 June 2008 Posted 14 June 2008 I still havn't stopped hating loving him for what he did to England. A few days ago I'd have said NO! Now that my night has been ruined by the suggestion of messers Robson :w00t: and Hoddle :w00t: , you bunch of feckers have got my hopes up again. *Hat-in-hand*....yes please Mr Maclaren, please come. Saying that, I can see the Sun headlines now...."From the Wally With The Brolly To The Jester In Leicester" I'd love to be a fly on Raj's wall if he were to be appointed.
Jordan Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Just been on SSN, Leicester confirm a two man shortlist. No names mentioned or owt, but it must be drawing to and end. Nope, it's a one-man shortlist; the SSN reporter must have heard the names "John" and "Gregory" and thought someone was talking about two different persons.
Guest shearfox Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 i got a little hot headed with my post earlier (i just read the name and posted without thinking) and you people are right he did do a decent job at boro but its unlikely he will come here but stranger things have happened.
Daggers Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Some people just need to realise who this football club is Damn right - a massive club to rival Real Madrid and Manchester United put together. We need a gargantuan manager because we are so big. It amazes me that people so often forget how absolutely massive we are.
Hammster Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 His Record: Middlesbrough Games:250 Won:97 Lost:93 Drew:60 Win %:38.80 England Games:18 Won:9 Lost:5 Drew:4 Win %:50.00 It isn't to good but neither are our players get him in!!
StroudFox Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 Have not read through all this thread but sorry if I am repeating. Steve McClaren is in Austria/Switzerland commentating for BBC. If Mandaric has met/is meeting with all the candidates to interview them, how does that work? So surely it will not be McClaren?

Blackburn wanted to talk to Shearer, although I think I read that the Blackburn chairman had denied that he was about to fly out to the Euro's to speak to him. I can imagine that Mandaric would fly out to speak to him, although I doubt he's on his shortlist.
StroudFox Posted 15 June 2008 Posted 15 June 2008 I just cannot see McClaren wanting to come here, nor Mandaric wanting McClaren, a failed manager at Midlesbrough and England.
