Webbo Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 If Worthington wasn't good enough for us last season, how can he be good enough now. He's far too nice to run a football club, He's more like a scout master than a football manager. Out of all the deadbeats mentioned I'd take Gregory like a shot.

Worthington - Promotions: 1 (Championship to Premiership). Gregory - Promotions: 0 Worthington has also the reached play-off final before... has Gregory even reached the play-off places in any given division?
Lillehamring Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 I imagine Joe isn't just basing it on that, he's also basing it on the fact that he knows enough about Nigel Worthington from his six years as Norwich manager to make a decision. His record with us is just another reason to throw in there. That's completely different to declaring that a footballer no one has heard of is a world beater based on five minutes of You Tube footage. where's that picture of the cat that says something about taking the internet too seriously--- of course, he would take into account more than just his record here... i thought it was understood at foxes talk that refering to kaebi =
Webbo Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 Me me me me me me! I know this one! Is it becuase we got relegated since then? By that argument then Peter Taylor, Dave Basset, Craig Levein, Rob Kelly and Ian Holloway are all good enough too.

He left us because he was dead certain for the NI job. Who said he wasnt good enough for us before? He made it perfectly clear he was good enough by keeping that shower of shite in the championship. i dont understand why everyone keeps saying we told him to go. Wortho would do a jolly good job i think.
Jack Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 Wortho would be a decent appointment, he done a fairly good job at Norwich and im sure he could do a good job in league one. Plus if we are being realistic he's about the best we can hope for. It can't exactly be appealing to managers to come here, can it ?
lookwhaticando Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 By that argument then Peter Taylor, Dave Basset, Craig Levein, Rob Kelly and Ian Holloway are all good enough too. That holds no water. Taylor, Levein, Kelly and Holloway all left us in complete disarray. We were a shambles thanks in no small part to those managers. Worthington did no such thing. He came, oversaw our remaining five games with what little time he had to sure things up. Nowhere along the line did he mess the club up any more than it already was - how could he, he didn't have the time to.
iancognito Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 Worthington - Promotions: 1 (Championship to Premiership). Gregory - Promotions: 0 Worthington has also the reached play-off final before... has Gregory even reached the play-off places in any given division? No. And he never will. Just mentioned in another thread that John Ward might be out of Carlisle in the next couple of days, so he could be a contender too. Contender number 108....

If I remember correctly he originally only took the NI on a temporary basis for a start, keeping his options open for a return to club management. If he was that keen on international management why would he consider coming back here?
Webbo Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 Nowhere along the line did he mess the club up any more than it already was - how could he, he didn't have the time to. He should put that on his CV, that's the best endorsement he'll ever get.

ibbosuk Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 Guru ibbosuk talks to Milan Mandaric .... MILAN! YOU KNOW The best man for the Leicester City job is Billy Davies ...CUT THE BS AND GO GET HIM!! YOU KNOW THE CANDIDATES MENTIONED ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!!!!!! YOUR JOB is to bring in the best possible candidate NOT WASTE 3 WEEKS!! FAKIN AROUND!! OFFER BILLY DAVIES OR PAUL INCE A GOOD TRANSFER KITTY & PAY ENOUGH MONEY AND EITHER WILL MANAGE LCFC FOR US IN DIVISION 1)))...FORGET BEING F*KIN NICE!!!! ((((Milian)))) STOP! trying to do this on the cheap as we have little or no footballing credibility left, mainly because of your bad managerial appointments. TO fail to bring in an unemployed Billy Davies ((When you, and the VAST MAJORITY of supporters at the club knows he is the best candidate out there would be a complete disaster for the club and ultimately YOU!!! BITE THE BULLET MILAN, DIG DEEP AND GO AND GET HIM!!!!......... So Speaks The Foxtalk "GURU IBBOSUK"
lookwhaticando Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 He should put that on his CV, that's the best endorsement he'll ever get. Is that before or after he adds League One champion? Beaglehole to take over Northern Ireland Perhaps this is why we let Beaglehole sign up to the NI team... preparing the groundwork for a sensational swoop for Worthington, whose job at the IFA would be taken by Beaglehole (with him now being an insider and all).
davies Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 Whats funny? On SSN it says McLaren in talks with Blackburn :S I'm worried about who our next manager will be seen him trainin the leicester squad on ssn
Maybes Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 Worthingtons record proves he is a better manager than Gregory. Case closed. Webbo Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 Gregory:Villa 43.15% Gregory's stats at Villa are better than MON at there or here, I don't see what that proves. O'Neil: Leicester City 38.11 % Aston Villa 36.14 %
lookwhaticando Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 Dodgy stats, Maybes. Peter Taylor's "win ratio" is 41%..............clearly showing that statistics can be made to prove anything. Qualifying the numbers would secure his point. Pointing out that Gregory has failed to mount any kind of promotion challenge from any division would suffice, I'd say. Pointing out that Worthington has achieved promotion would boost Worthington's credibility, too. But these points have already been mentioned. Repeatedly. By me, mostly.
James. Posted 16 June 2008 Posted 16 June 2008 Win ratios are only a guide and can't be used on their own. Billy Davies' win ratio in the Premiership isn't going to look to healthy is it? Does that make him a bad manager? No.

It was a 'guide' to back up my point that Worthington is a better candidate than Gregory.
