bald reynard Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Has anyone else read the interview with Worthington in the Belfast Telegraph this morning (via Newsnow if you, like me, don't live in 'them there parts') ? Nige says, "I don't want to talk about the Leicester City speculation" blah blah blah. That sounds to me like, "I'm in the process of discussing how and when I'll start the City job, with Mandaric". MM's 3/4 day delay in announcing the new manager could well be him tying up the loose ends with Worthington and the Irish FA.
Darkzzz_ Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 If we cant have Davis i would rather have Wortho....

Today's Merc quotes: An Irish FA spokesman told the Leicester Mercury: "Neither the manager or the Irish FA have had any contact with Leicester City and Nigel is fully focused on his job with the national team." That seems quite explicit to me.
Kilworthfox Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 If we cant have Davis i would rather have Wortho.... Steve? Paul? Sean?
bald reynard Posted 18 June 2008 Author Posted 18 June 2008 Today's Merc quotes:That seems quite explicit to me. Yes, but presumably that was quoted yesterday (Tuesday) - hasn't MM said he will make an announcement at the end of the week - possibly discussions with Worthington and the Irish FA, Wednesday and Thursday ?!
Moreton Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Maybe but i wouldn't mind him coming here for a second stint. I'm going to support whoever comes in
bald reynard Posted 18 June 2008 Author Posted 18 June 2008 I'd take Worthington over Gregory any day Too right. I REALLY do hope MM is talking to Worthington - he seems the best of a bad bunch whose names have been linked with City this week. What a pity about Grayson though.
SamL Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 This speculation is beyond a joke now. Frankly, I'm quite fed up of reading who is going to be our next manager because theres so much speculation around, not everybody can be our manager. I wish Milan would just come out with it and leave the manager to begin pre-season preparations.

Asha Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Worthington may have kept us up, but anyone remember the three home games he were in charge of, and how we got beaten in all 3...2-1 to Norwich, 2-1 to Birmingham and 4-1 to Wolves. OK the Preston/Barnsley games saved us that year, but he seems unable to approach a home game.

Yeah but do you not remember the utter garbage he inherited
Asha Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Yeah but do you not remember the utter garbage he inherited Yeah true. Will he have any better next season though?

You have actually just swayed the way I've been approaching Wortho. Also when he took over at N.Ireland he messed it up. I'm not so sure now... FCUK YOU MANDARIC!

To be fair, when we played Wolves they were on a roll and pretty much unbeatable with the squad we had at the time. The way he motivated our players for the second half against Birmingham was the best I've seen from any of our managers over the past few years. We didn't even play too badly against Norwich, just made a few errors. Out of the 3 that are being speculated about, I'd take Worthington.
Number 6 Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 I've never been a huge Wortho fan but would take him over Gregory any day.

Katy Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 I don't care, as long as it's not Gregory. I don't think I made that point clear yet.

Small sample size.
l444ry Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Please stop re-writing history by perpetuating the myth that Nigel Worthington kept Leicester up with his five games as City boss. As the team only accumulated six points during his stint and Leicester avoided relegation by eleven, this is clearly a mathematical impossibility. If he'd lost all five City would still have been safe.

It doesn't matter anyway, i'm sure he felt he did enough to get the job at the first attempt, I doubt he would come back after that!!!
DanTheFox07 Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 Ive already said that we shouldnt go back, Just show`s how desperate we are! if he wasnt good enough before whats changed?

DanTheFox07 Posted 18 June 2008 Posted 18 June 2008 We've been relegated. This Is true, but im reffering to his ability to manage a football team..... Mandaric is effectively saying he is willing to settle for second best when he said that he would get the right man for the job here!
