Daggers Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Alan Maybury plans to hold talks with Jimmy Calderwood over a permanent move to Aberdeen. The defender's loan spell at Pittodrie expired when the season concluded, and he will be out of contract with Leicester at the end of the month. Maybury has admitted that he could sign for another club in England, but wants to speak with Dons boss Calderwood when he returns from holiday. Interest He told Record PM: "There's been some interest down south but there's still nothing definite. "I'll speak to Jimmy when he gets back and see what he's thinking but you can't ever rule anything out. "I enjoyed my spell at Aberdeen but I have to wait until my contract is up at Leicester before I can make any decisions." SourcePlease, someone tell me he's not holding out for a contract extension?
Father Ted Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 SourcePlease, someone tell me he's not holding out for a contract extension? OMG, he may well be. I thought it was finalised that he wasn't going to be handed a new contract
Foxhateram Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 SourcePlease, someone tell me he's not holding out for a contract extension? Wouldnt be a bad player in league 1. he did alright in the championship just never got a real chance.
Webbo Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 With Stearman probably going we'll need cover at RB. We could do a lot worse.
Houdini Logic Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Sounds like an old interview with him. That, or he doesn't read the OS and hasn't realised he's been released
Daggers Posted 20 June 2008 Author Posted 20 June 2008 Wouldnt be a bad player in league 1. he did alright in the championship just never got a real chance. I think 85 appearances is a reasonable chance for someone to have been given.
Daggers Posted 20 June 2008 Author Posted 20 June 2008 With Stearman probably going we'll need cover at RB. We could do a lot worse. We have Chambers as first choice replacement.
SamL Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 If any players are to leave, I hope Maybury will be the first. When we signed him I thought he'd turn out to be one of our better signings but on the whole he was poor.
morris1234 Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 With Stearman probably going we'll need cover at RB. We could do a lot worse. well i never thought would hear that especially when MA brought in 12 right backs what about chambers? would be fantastic in this division, always thought he was good! just not in midfield then we have lee cox the academy lad, meant to be a good talent. i was going to say bruno aswell but id rather he left the club, he must be on an absolute tonne every week! p.s. i just went on to the O.S to see if id missed anybody and realised some of the potential talent we have, sheehan, beswick, gradel, weso, worley! and theres others id forgotten about like little levi who'd be ok in this division and andy king aswell! i think all we need to do this summer is bring in a hard working striker (liam dickinson please ) and a leader/captaining midfielder(maybe 2 )! oh and maybe a back up right mid for when gradel gets tired of scoring 50 goals!
Webbo Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 We have Chambers as first choice replacement. Like I said we need cover, (in case he's injured/suspended).
Daggers Posted 20 June 2008 Author Posted 20 June 2008 Like I said we need cover, (in case he's injured/suspended). Worst case scenario - we can always use the big flag or something, all bunched up near the corner flag, that'll do ten times the job of a Maybury.
Ashley Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 Atleast thats another player off the wage bill. Hurry up and go please.
Jimmy Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 he got released alongside Rab, Clapham and Elvis, we probably just didn't bother paying them off and let the contracts expire

Joe. Posted 20 June 2008 Posted 20 June 2008 No no no. Get rid. We need better than Maybury, I don't care if we're in League One or not. At times he wasn't a bad player but he made far too many mistakes in his time here and I don't particularly want to see him in a Leicester City shirt again. We can do better.

All I can say is out with the old and in with the new bye, bye maybury!

I think he would do a job in that League ginger or not!
CKB Posted 21 June 2008 Posted 21 June 2008 Maybury = right back hmmm ok, handy squad player for THAT position Maybury = the right wing Maybury = left back
Rodders Posted 21 June 2008 Posted 21 June 2008 I think he would do a job in that League ginger or not! Really? I can't see it. At all.
billyfox1 Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 With Stearman probably going we'll need cover at RB. We could do a lot worse. How? My one legged granny would be an improvement
