Babylon Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 It seems strange to rely on strikers who have failed and I think big time. Almost everyone has failed for us in recent yours. Fryatt, Howard and Campbell SHOULD and HAVE scored in lower leagues. These players shouldn't be written off because of the shambles of a season last year. One more striker would give us Fryatt, Campbell, Howard, Hayles, Chambers + another... i'm sure any team in this league would swap our combined strike force with theirs right now.
Guest Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 34. Interesting and exciting playmaker. Shame he's really too old now.
purpleronnie Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Derby Reject Whhhooooaaaaa Nah, I think he's a good player, at this level I think he may shine. And 34 years old, a bit of experience is what's needed. If true it will be a decent signing.
billyfox1 Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Should be a decent signing. Evey manager last season said it's about getting the right balance between youth and experience. Maybe NP's starting to get it right
Calum McDermott Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 He's a decent player be a good signing at this level. Can only think a midfielder is on his way out. I agree. Also, would be a quality signing.

MC Prussian Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Im sure some teams in the championship would like to have our strikeforce. I hope (Ankle) goes first.
dandannieldanok Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 He doesn't seem to me as the type of player that would relish a trip on a cold Tuesday night to Oldham or Hartlepool. No doubt he has more technical quality than any midfielder we have but I'm not sure he's a grafter, another player on the decline in truth. I haven't changed my view, but signing Idiakez wouldn't disappoint me too much given the dire run of central midfielders ever since Izzet and Lennon. Like with Dickov, Idiakez should only be brought in to replace someone not as an addition. We saw last season that a huge squad was unhelpful, whereas smaller squads where managers were almost forced to play a consistent line-up had more success.
Jonezy Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Nah, we don't need an attacking mid, we already have Oakley, Adams, King and Porter for that.....
Spiritwalker Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Fantastic midfielder every time i've seen him play.Quality set pieces. Would signal the end of one of Oakley/Clemence i guess. It must be Clemence NP seems to like Oakley he has made him captain for both games and by all by all accounts played very well the other night. Idiakez would be a good signing for us.
Tevez Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Dunno if i believe all this. Think he would be very good at our level even though he's now 34!How many ex Derby players do we want! The problem is....?
Mr Happy Posted 18 July 2008 Posted 18 July 2008 Im sure some teams in the championship would like to have our strikeforce. I'm sure some city fans would like to give the opposition our strikeforce after last season With all of the mentioned strikers we now have for this season we should be able to string together a decent artnership between two of them you'd have thought... Yes I'd hazard a guess that if Idiakez signs for us then Clem is on his way out, I'd certainly hope that happens anyway we shouldn't have a big squad again this season the smaller the better IMO
MikeyT Posted 18 July 2008 Posted 18 July 2008 The problem is....? There isnt one! I was just sayimg!
Vo Rogue Posted 18 July 2008 Posted 18 July 2008 Fantastic midfielder every time i've seen him play.Quality set pieces. Would signal the end of one of Oakley/Clemence i guess. Or the younger ones thinking they might be bench players here and putting in transfer/loan requests.
bigneville Posted 18 July 2008 Posted 18 July 2008 Or the younger ones thinking they might be bench players here and putting in transfer/loan requests. Maybe it would, but first team football for the young ones isnt too bad. But i'm fairly confident, if Idiakez signs, one of Oakley/Clemence will be gone.
Alexikokopops Posted 18 July 2008 Posted 18 July 2008 Good, but should be to replace someone. It'll be nice to have someone putting in quality free kicks.
Bert Posted 20 July 2008 Posted 20 July 2008 Some people don't half talk a lot of tripe on here. When Clem signed everyone was loving him, same with Oakley.
Tevez Posted 20 July 2008 Posted 20 July 2008 Some people don't half talk a lot of tripe on here. When Clem signed everyone was loving him, same with Oakley. Calm it Rob. I Still Love Oakley.
FilboFox Posted 20 July 2008 Posted 20 July 2008 Idiakez in... Clemence OUT! I don't care how many of you think he should be given the chance to be decent at this level, based on last year and the utter lack of effort and passion and inept leadership he gave, he SHOULD be out! And good riddance if he does go!
General Smuts Posted 20 July 2008 Posted 20 July 2008 Calm it Rob.I Still Love Oakley. Ditto. Still rate him tbh. I just don't like to shout about it too much
Rich Fox Posted 20 July 2008 Posted 20 July 2008 Some people don't half talk a lot of tripe on here. When Clem signed everyone was loving him, same with Oakley. of course people were pleased clemence and oakley signed they both had excellent records at this level at derby and birmingham, But for whatever reason they failed at leicester mainly through lack of effort.

They failed because they wasnt used in the right way, same with Howard.
