Webbo Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 BBC News. I bet the officious little bastard who gave him the ticket is really proud of his contribution to society. What's this country coming to when you can't even have a fag in your own property.
Shrenchel Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 Absolutely conkers aint it. Apparently there's a state in America that's bringing in a law wherebouts you can't smoke in your car if it's driving/parked on a public road. No doubt here will be the same in the next 10 years.

Zingari Posted 25 July 2008 Posted 25 July 2008 Yeh because he said what is this country coming to and it isn't this country it is Wales where the laws may be slightly different.. indeed they are an Englishman is still allowed to shoot a Welshman from within the walls of chester ( after dark) with a bow and arrow if he wants ; don't think there is a similar law in wales

filbertway Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 How does someone getting a £30 fine make national news?
lavrentis Posted 26 July 2008 Posted 26 July 2008 OWN van, it was probably his work van which is a work place. I would like smoking laws to be stricter.

What's this country coming to when you can't even have a fag in your own property. not read the link, but the fellow was on radio5 the other day; he half mentioned having a colleague in the van, which, as he was on his way to a job, means he was making the colleague passively smoke. (i used to work with a smoker, and as he was my boss, iand i was new out of school, i couldn't really complain, i hated the smoke though) OWN van, it was probably his work van which is a work place. I would like smoking laws to be stricter. he tried to make out it wasn't really a work van, and said: 'well what if a lawyer had his briefcase in his car on the way to a court, does that make that his place of work?' radio5 got a lawyer on and he said, if someone in that situation was ever stopped, that it could be argued it was his work place. the van man had no comeback.
Webbo Posted 27 July 2008 Author Posted 27 July 2008 OWN van, it was probably his work van which is a work place. I would like smoking laws to be stricter. He's a self employed decorator (like all the best fellows are) so it was his van. not read the link, but the fellow was on radio5 the other day; he half mentioned having a colleague in the van, which, as he was on his way to a job, means he was making the colleague passively smoke. (i used to work with a smoker, and as he was my boss, iand i was new out of school, i couldn't really complain, i hated the smoke though) He was giving a lift to another self employed decorator, who was also smoking at the time. I don't smoke myself and I appreciate that not many people will agree with me. I just have a bee in my bonnet about individual freedom and unnecessary interference from govt.

What's this country coming to when you can't even have a fag in your own property. I'm with you. Absolutely ridiculous! Its HIS van. What the hell!
Daggers Posted 27 July 2008 Posted 27 July 2008 What the hell was he doing smoking? He was driving a white van for God's sake! He should have been leering lecherously at some teenage totty or challenging a car driver to a fight. Another example of how Brown's Britain is crumbling
