Population-1 Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 It appears certain County fans feel our away support was a shambles yesterday: http://members3.boardhost.com/marionsboard...1218964889.html Methinks they should be more concerned by their own lack of ability to sell out a 10, 000 capacity stadium given this was their first home game of the season in a higher division. It appears they were looking for us to make up the numbers for them.... Incidentally, I think Morrison is going to become one hell of a defender once he sorts out his distribution.
Austin Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 They can fook off .. I thought we weren't bad .. Ironically, I thought it was noisier at Walkers for MK then yesterday away .. Still a good day, bar the result. Shouldv'e WON.
Corky Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 It's quite amusing reading the replies to find that the posters' have done the same as our fans allegedly did.
Durnerz Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 Harder to make an atmosphere and hold it inside the ground from an open air stand, was the same at Accrington, we could barely hear them and they couldnt hear us.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 We tried our best but we have too many sit-down merchants to make any atmosphere at games like that.
dilko2008 Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 to be fair was not there but could only hear the city fans on the radio!
Tommeh Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 Far too many members of our support gave the stewards too much respect yesterday and instantly sat, combine that with the lack of roof it overall led to a very poor atmsophere. People say that the atmosphere's at Sheff united, Barnsley and Stoke were amazing and they want it every week, I'm 99% certain that the support in those games had something to do with the vast majority of our support standing. so in short yes our support was a shite yesterday, still had a good day out though, Neither the game, result or atmosphere will ever change that
dandannieldanok Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 Why do people on here instantly think that standing up and making a nuisance of themselves to the stewards makes for a good atmosphere, quite frankly it is embarrassing. There were 1700 of us yesterday and just because a lot of us decided to use the seats and not piss off the stewards that were working hard to find seats for those who had them taken by ignorant fans who don't read their tickets, it doesn't make us any less of a fan.

It was unreserved seating... Standing up does make for a better atmopshere, it's factoid.
Unabomber Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 1703. The in-fighting was certainly not cool. Anyone know what happened to the idiot with the bloody nose, who spent the first 10 minutes calling everyone sitting down a scumbag?

First of all, it was unreserved seating, fans were encouraged by the Stockport stewards to sit where they like, as I was on arrival. So I did. I think the opinion is pretty much divided. Why you think that fans wanting to stand up and support the team is embarrasing I don't know. The fact is, standing up doesn't make anyone any less of a fan either. Standing up is still a common part of football no matter how many people would like to say it isn't. It always will be as well and the sooner the authorites accept that the better. Not just for the people that want to stand, but for everyone.
purpleronnie Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 Anyone know what happened to the idiot with the bloody nose, who spent the first 10 minutes calling everyone sitting down a scumbag? Problem is there are fans who wish to sit and the last thing they want is someone standing in front of them. Thats why standing areas should be introduced. That aside, I should point out its not against the law to stand. Its a shame in some respects we dont have fans like man u or west ham or leeds who seem to have every away fan wanting to stand. Its always weird hearing of stewarsds telling people to sit down because now I've been to games here in the states no-one ever bothers you and infact clubs actually encourage standing, imagine that, so I do feel for you lot home and away. It was the main reason I stopped going to leicester matches. We have been mass sitters for a long time now, its a pity because back in the day when I went...blah blah blah.

When it was unreserved seating, yeah? Take the games last season where the majority and in some cases all of our support stood, Forest, chelsea, sheff united, Barnsley, Colchester, Stoke all top notch atmsophere's, yesterday reminded me a lot of cov away last season, big support, majority sitting and no noise. I never said it didn't make you any less of a fan did I? I've got full repect for anyone who makes a 100 miles trip to Stockport but when our support was like it was yesterday, criticism from Stockport fans I think is fully justified.
Father Ted Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 What a turd! I think he needs to take a long hard look at himself and his team, they weren't great and their just jealous. Ignore people like that but I'm afraid we're going to get plenty of 'opponent' fans like that this season.

It's also easier to sing when standing up too. The open-air stadium really didn't help the atmosphere either. Our players heard our chants, and that's enough for me.

Idiot. The game yesterday, as has been pointed out, was unreserved seating and so there were no "ignorant fans who don't read their tickets". You should have been told that when you bought your ticket from the Walkers, so spitting your dummy out and crying into your cornflakes over this matter is pathetic. If anybody yesterday was an "ignorant fan", it was you, and those like you, who had no idea it was unreserved seating and cried upon finding this out. RE: not using seats and pissing off stewards. I got into the ground very early yesterday, and the two stewards behind me (1 bloke, 1 lass; possibly a supervisor) were actually very decent stewards, contrary to reports I'd read previously. They took the banter we gave them in their stride and said they themselves stand at the football. They also said that if it was up to them, they'd allow us to stand as well. It was all good-natured, light-hearted fun with them. I'd hardly say we were "pissing the stewards off". You're a muppet and the sweeping generalisations you make just because somebody was in the seat your ticket was allocated to is pathetic. Oh, and for the record, I don't care if fans want to sit or stand at the football, I just don't like it when people who sit try and label those who stand as terrorists / chavs / hooligans / wind-up merchants because it's ridiculous. P.S. Standing at the football definitely makes for a better atmosphere, no two ways about it.
dandannieldanok Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 I was told on 3 separate occasions to sit in the seat number printed on the ticket and seating was reserved, also the fact that stewards actually bothered to move everyone around even deep into the second half to accomodate those who found there seats occupied tells me that is was reserved but if you were all told differently then fine. And although no-one is actually saying us that sat down yesterday are less of a fan, that is the impression I'm getting from pretty much everyone in this thread. Tbh I was more interested in the game than trying to make an atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind standing if everyone else is but it is quite difficult to do so on Row B when children are sitting behind you. Some of my favorite away games have been when constant singing and standing has occurred, but the now seemingly recurrent theme of almost criticism towards those that sit is just not on. It didn't need 1700 to make an atmosphere so I don't see where the problem was.

How great would that have been we had about 60-100 making an atmopshere in our stand and there was a fair bit of noise coming from the side stand, yet from where i was I thought it was still half decent, the players could hear us too. It would've been a lot ore intimidating for Stockport if we could've created better. Saying this, I know not everybody is going to, or want to stand.
Jimmy Posted 17 August 2008 Posted 17 August 2008 Stockport fans I spoke to praised our support so well done lads and lasses

It would have been and I'd would have liked to, if I had the message that is was unreserved seating I certainly wouldn't have perched myself on row B in front of a family. I know my reaction has been strong on this and I'm sorry if I offended some, but people on here don't know the grief we went through yesterday pretty much all day.

It didn't need 1700 to make an atmosphere so I don't see where the problem was. Its obviously a case of the stewards not being up on the arrangements. I was told by the LCFC ticket office that it was unreserved both when I booked and when I picked up the tickets ( and noticed the two seats booked together were in different parts of the ground). Apparently the tickets are printed with numbers in case they decide to make it reserved. I akso checked with the stewards as I got in who said it was unreserved as I didnt want to piss anyone off by sitting in their seat. I guess they routinely have it unreserved at Stockport as usually there are very few away fans there. Given that it was full it would probably have made more sense to have made it areserved match. I,m sure SC will have learned their lesson and change it in the unlikely event that we are back there next season!!!!!!
