I haven't yet. It's a toss up between environmental health and his landlord (via my landlord.)

I'm leaning towards option B. To be honest, right now I just want to move out and give up. I'm desperate for a quiet night sleep.

I don't have an exit clause in my contract though, so it'd require my landlord letting us surrender the tenancy. I think we'd have more luck with that if we'd exhausted option B also.

If you can escape relatively easily then that's more attractive, for sure. When I had problems I owned the house which made it a bit tricky. Fingers crossed your landlord is a reasonable human being who can help you sort it

It's a very good flat, they'll easily rent it again. It's my understanding though that relisting it will cost her, so, not sure.

Play some consistant low frequency sound yourself either through speakers or in headphones to drown out the music. It's easier to fall asleep if the sound is steady.

Also try talking to the guy, he might not realise how annoying he is being.

We've knocked on his door a few times and he won't answer, I posted a letter through his door on Thursday that I thought had done the trick but he started again last night.

We've got a fan we use but it's not loud enough when he cranks it up. I've used 35db industrial foam earplugs and even they don't cut him out.

I would gather as much information then if personal reuests with the bloke fails discuss it with your landlord with the info at hand.

They will not want outside authority involved. There is also CJC who will mediate.

Thing is, I have to live in the same block as him, I'd rather it not get to that point. He's just not making it particularly easy.

It's certainly better if things can be resolved amicably, but it's depressing that it should take any effort on your part at all, but such is life.

 

Are there folk in other flats in your block that are likely to be affected?

I don't think the people across the hall will hear him and because he's at the top with nobody either side it's really just us underneath that are getting it.

For he E.O you may have to keep a log and recordings if you have not already started to do it.

You won't want other neighbours thinking it's you. They may hear something but not as bad. Those below won't thinkit is coming from two floors up.
