I guess this could be in the amusing stories thread but I think this is just about right not in the same league as some in here but could have been more serious.

CCTV footage has been released showing a drunk motorist driving for a mile through Lincoln city centre with a wheel missing from his car.

Philip Dickens, 28, lost the front wheel after hitting a wall on his way into the city from his home in Witham St Hughs, eight miles away.

Police stopped the dazed motorist when he got out of the Seat Ibiza and he failed a breathalyser test.

At Lincoln Crown Court, he admitted dangerous driving and received a ban.

The court heard the IT worker was spotted by CCTV operators as he drove down Lincoln High Street with sparks coming from his car at 03:00 GMT on 10 March.

'No memory'

Dickens, who was dressed in pyjamas, had already driven seven miles before losing the wheel and then continuing into the city centre.

He was arrested after he stopped the vehicle, got out and began staggering towards the railway station.

Prosecutor Andrew Scott said the front wheel was found on the car's front passenger seat. It is thought a member of the public stopped the car and handed the wheel back.

The court was told Dickens could not remember anything about the trip.

Mr Scott said: "He came home, had his dinner and drank a bottle of wine. He went to bed at 23:00 and the next thing he remembers he is being taken by the police to hospital in an ambulance."

'Severe consequences'

He admitted dangerous driving and driving with excess alcohol and was given an 18-month driving ban, a 12-month community order with supervision, 180 hours of unpaid work and told to pay £1,000 costs.

Dickens was sentenced on 10 July but the footage has just been released.

Judith Walker, from Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) East Midlands, said: "This erratic trip put himself and others in some significant danger. We can at last be thankful that nobody was hurt.

"Had anyone else crossed his path, the consequences could have been severe."

I would say it is in the right thread, he is a definitely a cvnt and not amusing.

Based on some of the stuff I've seen on the forum getting laughs from people/children crashing, falling, on fire etc some would find it more amusing than c**tish.

I always find it strange that people are prosecuted for what might have happened. If we accept the logic of Ms Walker no-one should ever leave their house or do anything as there could be consequences, severe or otherwise.

Indeed to take the logic of Ms Walker one step further we should all stay indoors and do nothing as there will be criminal consequences for some people leaving their house this morning (do the crime and being a victim thereof) and as such we should all be prosecuted for potentially causing criminality.

You're right, what a crazy bitch, we should all drive recklessly and drunk, as long as we don't hit anyone, there is no harm in it.

Glad you agree. :) If there is no harm then there are no consequences. :D

Thieves have targeted the home of a woman who died when she was buried under a landslip.

Rosemary Snell and Michael Rolfe, from Somerset, were found inside their car near Beaminster Tunnel in Dorset on Monday last week.

Police have revealed that burglars have stolen Ms Snell's antique silver collection from her home near Crewkerne, Somerset.

The theft happened days after the discovery of the couple's bodies.

Ms Snell, 67, and Mr Rolfe, 72, from Fivehead, near Taunton, were killed on 7 July when their Skoda was flattened in a tunnel by hundreds of tonnes of mud and rubble.

They lay dead for 10 days until rescue crews uncovered their car at the entrance to the tunnel.

Merc - Check your gas pipes

A mum has hit out at thieves who stole copper pipes from her house, flooding the property with gas.

The 44-year-old said the thieves had put lives at risk for the sake of scrap metal worth £40.

A number of houses in her neighbourhood – around Narborough Road, Leicester – have been targeted in a similar fashion in recent months.

The price of scrap metal, including copper, is at an all-time high and is driving a crimewave across the county.

The gas pipes were cut from the outside of the property, where the woman, who is deaf, lives with her three-year-old daughter.

The action caused gas to flow into their home.

"The awful smell hit me as soon as I opened the front door," said the woman, who asked not to be named.

"There was a haze in the air which had a blue tinge to it.

"Normally my daughter charges into the house ahead of me and switches on the lights, but fortunately she didn't do that on this occasion.

"I dread to think what could have happened if she had, or if someone had walked past the house smoking a cigarette.

"I was really worried so I went around the house trying to find out where the gas was coming from.

"I checked the fireplace and the cooker, but I couldn't find anything.

"I opened the back door to get some air into the house and went outside because the smell was so strong, and then I noticed that the gas pipes at the side of the house were gone.

"I can't understand why someone would saw through a gas pipe. As well as everyone else, they're putting their own lives at risk, aren't they?"

She said that the repair man said the amount of copper taken was worth about £40 as scrap.

"Why would you put lives at risk for the sake of £40?" she said.

The woman sent a text message to her mother, who then alerted gas engineers who went immediately to disconnect the supply to the house.

She now faces a repair bill of up to £1,250 because she has chosen to have her gas pipes installed inside the house instead of on an exterior wall.

The company with which her house is insured has said that it will not pay to cover the extra work.

The woman's mother, who lives in the south of England, said: "Luckily my daughter does not smoke and didn't switch on the lights because it was in the early evening.

"I can't believe that someone would put people's lives at risk in this way."

Sergeant Simon Barnes, of Hinckley Road police station, said there had been a number of similar incidents in the area over the past few months.

He added that a thief was jailed recently for a series of similar thefts.

"We are going to end up with a house being blown up because the pipe has been cut and there has been a spark," he said.

"We would urge people to call us if they see anything suspicious and we will come and check it out."

Anyone who spots any suspicious activity outside homes is asked to call police on 101 immediately.

All for £40. Peasant cvnts

Absolutely horrific, evil evil scum.

I hope prisons in South Africa are like concentration camps, because these men deserve pain and suffering for the rest of their (hopefully short) lives.

So you hope all their Prisoners have to suffer for the minority ?

Thats pretty average for Africa, but that Kid didnt deserve to be ended like that - RIP :(

Why do you suddenly care about foreigners?

This family got brutally murdered. It does not matter where they are from.

So I'm xenophobic because I care about this family? Makes sense
