If I was a rampantly preachy left, which I'm definitely not, I'd suggest it might be because he's a xenophobic ****.

A teenager is seriously ill in hospital after he was beaten repeatedly by a gang of thugs armed with hammers.

The 19-year-old was targeted while he was eating with four friends in a pizza takeaway in Evington Road, Leicester.

Police said a group of men burst into Kortoba pizzeria and attacked the teenager and his friends shortly after 11.30pm on Thursday.

The injured man was last night being treated in the specialist head injuries unit at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre.

Police said his injuries were serious but not life-threatening. His four friends suffered less-serious injuries.

The takeaway, at the junction with Cromer Street, was cordoned off until yesterday afternoon as forensics experts examined the scene.

Inside, there were clear signs of a disturbance, with tables and chairs turned over.

There were several spots of what appeared to be dried blood on the floor and on the inside of the front window.

Food from the evening before was still visible on the serving counter.

A number of men who said they knew the injured man said the attack had been carried out by a gang armed with hammers.

One said the 19-year-old was struck repeatedly with a hammer as he lay unconscious and bleeding on the floor of the takeaway.

Another said the gang which carried out the attack was up to 30-strong.

A nearby resident, who asked not to be named, said: "There are too many gangs around here at night – young men who think they are gangsters.

"This is a shocking incident and I really hope the young man gets better."

A business owner said: "We've been trying to find out all day what happened there. The police said there had been an assault in the pizza shop.

"I had heard someone was badly hurt and that three or possibly four people were taken away in ambulances.

"This is a good neighbourhood but, unfortunately, at night there are some bad people hanging around."

A police spokeswoman said officers believed weapons were used in the attack but were not sure what they were.

However, she said that none of the injured men had been stabbed.

She said: "Police were called to Evington Road at 11.40pm following reports of an assault.

"A group of men entered a store and assaulted the victim, who sustained head injuries.

"The 19-year-old man is currently being treated at the Queen's Medical Centre.

"His injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

She confirmed no arrests had been made.

Information about Thursday night's incident can be passed to police on 101 or via Crimestoppers, which is anonymous, on 0800 555111.

Here's a candidate:

A man has admitted drugging and raping three schoolchildren after meeting them at a park.

Darren Mackrell, 45, raped two boys aged eight and 10 and a girl, nine, at his flat in Southampton, Hampshire.

At the city's Crown court, he admitted 18 charges of rape, sexual assault, forcing the viewing and engagement in sexual acts and drugging.

Judge Gary Burrell QC warned he would spend a long time in prison for the "abhorrent" acts.

Dread to think what might have happened next if the police hadn't knoocked on his door.

OK, you've got my attention - what would have been next if the police hadn't knoocked on his door?

Sadly we have another contender.

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a baby girl was found badly injured at the bottom of a rubbish chute in Wolverhampton.

West Midlands Police said officers were called to a flat in Boscobel Crescent on Saturday evening after reports a child was missing.

They said a "very young baby" was then found nearby in the "refuse collection area" with serious injuries.

She was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Police said a 24-year-old woman had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 32-year-old man was being questioned on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Both remain in police custody.

Det Insp John Smith said they were not looking for anyone else as part of their inquiries.

He urged anyone with information to contact police.

Apparently (on facebook) an initiation ceremony of gangs these days is to put a babyseat at the side of the country road hoping a woman will stop in concern and then pounce on her from the field, beat and rape her and leave her for dead. Even if this is just scaremongering please be aware just call the police don't stop at the side of the road if you're alone.

Also if an egg hits your windscreen don't use the wiper as egg white will smear then you will pull over to wipe it by hand and be set upon in a similar fashion. Some absolute c*nts around

Same thing happened to me, but it was someone in Sweden. Had to change my password also.
